Go to for soft ice cream in Albany County. Overlooked in a couple recent articles on summer ice cream stops upstate to visit. So wrong ! The Kurver slider a must ! Bring the family.

This place reminds me of Sonic or In and Out Burger in California. Something has to do with you end up eating in the car in the parking lot ;-). Anyway, i liked the ice-cream, it was very smooth and creamy also not too sweet! They have lots of flavors so I have to come back and try them all! The meat sauce hot dog was good too. Staff was nice! Cash only if your purchase is less than $ 5.

Kurver Kreme ice cream is delicious and the flavors change weekly so check the Facebook page for the flavors of the week. If I was purely rating on taste, Kurver Kreme would have a 5, but I’m factoring in the fact that they are closed for winter — total bummer! Especially in a winter without snow. Also, the lines can be extensive at night because there are only a few service counters and Kurver Kreme is so popular. Prices are okay. I’ve definitely paid a lot more for smaller servings. We are super excited for another Kurver Kreme season because they just opened last week. I highly recommend Kurver Kreme to anyone new to the area or who hasn’t been. What are you waiting for?!

Apparently I’ve had two very different experiences here and while this review is meant to be 3.5 stars, I had to round up to a 4* because it didn’t leave me disappointed. I’ve been on a «summer diet»(meaning eating all sorts of delicious seasonal things like ice cream) and trying to make the most out of the summer and warm weather. The first notable experience I had at Kurver Kreme consisted of a «No-No» ice cream in a dish: the no fat no sugar added vanilla soft serve with Splenda. I’m not sure what I was thinking at the time, but I can say it was too icy and flavor — less for my tastebuds. I can’t say that it was horrible either, because it wasn’t. So again, I went in for a vanilla soft serve cone(kiddie sized) with chocolate dip. This time it was amazingly dense and tasted like actual vanilla. The soft serve ice cream held up the entire time I was devouring it and not one drop hit the floor. For sure I will be getting soft serve in its regular form and not the sans fat sans sugar version. After all it is the only true way to a «summer diet!»

Great service, lots of parking, picnic tables, gross ice cream. «To each his own», I suppose. There were several people here enjoying their desserts. To me it tasted like it was mixed with Crisco — greasy and bland. Less than a few bites in I wished I could throw it up. Stick with Stewarts.

When looking for ice cream places in the Albany area, Kurver Kreme had the best reviews, so we had to stop in. It’s located on Central, right down the street from Colonie Center and there’s plenty of parking here. They have a variety of soft and hard ice cream and we got a couple of soft serve cones. The ice cream is really, really good and the portions are definitely more than I would have though(small is easily enough for one person). The service was good and this is definitely the go-to ice cream place in Albany!

Bring your jeggings here because the portions are huge! We ordered the regular size with a vanilla/chocolate twist topped with chocolate sprinkles, peanut butter sauce and marshmallow. It was quite heavenly but I thought the toppings distracted from the ice cream itself such that I was having a little buyers remorse. We did get a sampling of the root beer sherbert. Wow, now I am coming back for that! There was a bit of a line out front but it moved really fast and we were up to bat before we knew it. Apparently they used to be cash only, but they’re caught up to the 21st century and now accept credit cards for orders over $ 5.

My boyfriend and I come here almost 4 times a week. Sometimes we go with our friends and we LOVE this place! Their menu changes every week which makes me excited. One thing that annoys me is sometimes, I want to try two different flavors but cannot do anything except for buy 2 cones. The other downside for this place is their sundae has a lot(and I mean A LOT) of whipping cream. The kurver cow is nothing special but soda blended with ice. They use local milk to make ice-cream so it is smooth, creamy and tasty. They accept credit card over $ 5. If you love soft-served ice-cream, go for it!!!

One of the great things about being an adult is the ability to have ice cream for dinner. I’ve taken advantage of that luxury a few too many times at Kurver Kreme, and man, it almost makes the wrinkles of adulthood worth it! Kurver Kreme is the best option I have found for soft serve that is less than 30 minutes from my home(see Martha’s Dandee Crème for those willing to take a longer trek). It’s creamy, smooth, and does not leave a chemical aftertaste on the tongue. The absolute best option at Kurver is its many and frequently rotating flavors of the week, specifically their soft serve sherbert(I think it is spelled as sherbet, but I’ll go with sherbert because that’s the way I say it and this is my review, after all) and that it can frequently be swirled with vanilla. Want a better-tasting version of the school cafeteria, freezer-burned creamsicles of your childhood? Orange sherbert with vanilla swirl is your answer. Plenty of nostalgic deliciousness in that one! Love key lime pie and wish you could have it in ice cream form? Get the lime sherbert swirl! The only time I’ve ever been sad at Kurver is when I have driven to Kurver thinking that it opened at noon, and find myself sitting alone in the empty parking lot because I had forgotten it does not open until 1:00 pm. I think I know what’s on the menu for dinner tonight!

I have been coming to Kurver for the past twenty years, and will continue to come, and bring those I care about. Their kiddie cones are $ 1.60, and the prices and sizes go up from there. You can get everything in cone, dish, and some things in waffle cones. And you can even have your cones dipped. The staff is quite good at what they do, they don’t play the 20 questions game, you tell them what you want, and they give you what you asked for. I tend to be a bit of a traditionalist, and get the chocolate/vanilla twist in a cone. But I’ve tasted the shakes, sundaes, and splits that my companions had ordered, and I’ve been impressed with everything. There’s some very rich about their ice cream, and I find that it reminds me of the ice cream that I enjoyed in Europe. It’s by far my favorite soft serve in the Capital District, and even though it’s out of my way, I stop here, instead of the three other ice cream stands that I pass daily.

This is long, but real and paints a true picture… I have never gone out of my way to write a negative… I travel a lot for work. Kurver Kreme is in front the SpringHill Suites hotel that I stay at when I’m in Albany. Most privately owned businesses believe in Capitalism… Not Kurver Kreme employees though(including the manager). A balance of customer experience and profit is critical to a businesses success… I’m 6 feet tall and 180lbs… Yet I love ice cream. Quarter gallon or more, sign me up… This was my second trip Kurver. Last time… I ordered a Big Daddy Sundae which is huge. Loved it and ate it all. Tonight I wanted a «Flurry»… Their largest” Flurry” is less than half the size of the Big Daddy. I asked the initial employee if he could make me a flurry using the Big Daddy cup and I would pay $ 15 for it(double the price of big daddy sundae). He told me he couldn’t because his manager wouldn’t allow it. I told him I understand his situation and asked kindly if I could talk to his manager… Another(seemingly) young guy came out(seeming bothered) asking in front of all to see… «which guy it is it?» with scowl on his face. I flagged him down with a smile on my face. I told him about my request and explained that Im willing to pay a premium price to get a larger than«normal» flurry. He said that it wasn’t an option and if I wanted more than standard I could buy 2 flurrys(still costs less than my offer) and he would give me the«big daddy dish» so I could put them into one. I politely asked him if he could merge them into the 1 dish for me… His response: nope… Well… 2 flurrys costs a third of what I was willing to pay. I ultimately offered him $ 20 to meet my need and he stood behind«policy». I wish I had been able to discuss the matter with the owner. My ask and offer was easy to meet and more profitable for the business. I guess good help really is hard to find. I broke down some rough numbers to the manager and explained that it was more profitable for them but if he was unwilling, then Id take my money elsewhere. His response: No problem. Have a nice day. What happened to Capitalism in our country? I know the customer isn’t always right but come on… I wasn’t asking for a discount. I was asking for service and willing to pay double what anyone else would have. In closing, I love my ice cream, I love our country but some businesses I just don’t understand.

Great location for kids to kill some time on the long lines and enjoyable crowd with lots of parking. Your kids will LOVE this place. The actual flavor/quality of the ice cream is another affair. Sadly, Haagen Daz from your local grocery store’s freezer section tastes better than this place. And for that reason, unless you’re here for the experience and have kids to please, don’t bother. Some people may just be in love with mediocre soft ice cream with 15 min queue times??? Not me. The selection is reasonable.

This ice cream place has been in business since 1952 so chances are good I’ll be taking my grandkids here one day. Some of my favorite soft serve flavors of the week are toasted coconut and pistachio though a straight vanilla with some chocolate sprinkles is never a bad choice either. Minor gripe, I would like them to open a little earlier than 1 pm on Sunday’s and to have better signage for their menus.

I’m a big fan of Kurver. It’s location is convenient(right around the corner from my house, so it’s actually quite dangerous!). The prices are standard for the area, seems a bit pricey, but the portions are large. There’s usually a large crowd, and navigating the parking lot can be a bit tricky. There’s a minimum to put on a credit card, which I always find annoying as I don’t always carry cash. However, I love the ice cream. I see a lot of people on here saying it’s not that great, and I have to say I’m not really understanding it. It’s very creamy and they have the standard vanilla, chocolate and twist all the time. They also have a flavor of the week, and that can be incorporated into a twist. There are also lots of frozen yogurt flavors. I’ve gotten great joy out of their peanut butter jubilee sundae. It’s HUGE, with large amounts of peanut butter saurce, hot fudge, whipped cream and nuts. I would eat one of these every day if I could. My other go-to at Kurver is a kid’s sized vanilla/chocolate twist with chocolate crunchies. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area.

We were passing through Albany on a hot day in July and got a craving for soft serve. Kurver Kreme was just the stuff — refreshing soft serve cones with several flavors of «dip» topping and sundaes the size of your head. I can see myself making this a regular stop whenever I go through Albany.

The ice cream texture is similar to the ice cream from the Mister Softee trucks in NYC. For a dedicated ice cream shop, it’s alright. The prices are cray. They didn’t have many flavors available on the day we went.(No strawberry?! And this is an ice cream shop? And the time we went was no where near closing time.) The signature sundae’s come in two sizes, short pappy and grand pappy. My friend and I each got a short pappy signature sundae. I got the Fudge Brownie Sundae. $ 6 – 7 She got the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae. $ 6 – 7 The Fudge Brownie Sundae was too sweet. The fudge is extremely sweet and it ruins the whole sundae. There was only a small piece of brownie at the bottom of the sundae. The small pappy is huge for a small. I was grossed out after eating roughly half of it. I wish it came in a smaller size. The Strawberry Shortcake is good. It is much better than the fudge brownie sundae. The strawberry syrup, vanilla ice cream, and the cake blend well together. My friend did not opt for the whip cream. My fudge brownie sundae had whip cream. This place is overrated. I can eat ice cream and lots of it but Kurver Kreme ice cream is too sweet. They didn’t have many flavors available at the time my friend and I went. The sizes are limited for certain items. A small pappy is too big already. If you must get a small pappy, share it with someone. The prices are expensive for soft serve ice cream. I’ll rather spend the money on Haagen Dazs. I can eat that until I go into a coma. After eating half of a Kurver Kreme small pappy, I just wanted to throw up.

Weird weird… teens working the counter, strange demeanor… I’d rather go get an ice cream from McDs before sending someone here.

Agree there’s something odd going on to get this place 4 stars. Nothing special about the ice cream, there’s not nearly enough seating, and there’s no smiles on anyone’s face when they take your money. Cheer the F up! We’ll get $ 1 cones from McD’s instead.

I’ve been here twice in a 5 day span and I’m probably going again today. I got the same thing both times. I’m not a huge ice cream fan, but after having a root canal followed by an infected root canal, I’ve been living on milkshakes because regular ice cream is too cold. Caramel milkshake. «Regular». Huge. delicious and it is actually on the menu. I’ve asked for caramel other places and have received blank stares(vanilla soft serve + caramel syrup… shake it!) They are also close to my office and they take credit cards(I never have cash on me). Thank you for being my go-to«lunch» spot while I was in need. (If you are unnerved by birds, like I am, watch you back. Those little sparrows are assertive jerks)
