I Song Orthodontics

This is my second go around with I Song Orthodontics. I met the I Song team five years ago, when my son was a patient. The entire staff is kind, courteous, flexible, and professional. Initially, I was skeptical getting braces at my age, however when I reflected on the results of my son’s teeth, I knew it was a no brainer, and I could not be happier.

My daughter had one of her metal rings slip off of her tooth just before the holidays. Dr. Song was off that week, and the appointments were all booked the following week, so my daughter was going to have to wait two weeks to get her metal ring replaced back on her tooth. That meant she would have to go two weeks without wearing her neck gear. Dr. Song did not want my daughter to be without it for so long since she had been so diligent in wearing it and she had made such good progress, so Dr. Song came into the office that day to replace it for her, even though Dr. Song was in the middle of her vacation. She is very kind! Her staff is also very kind! We are happy with everything they have done so far.
On the path to straight teeth…

Dr. Song and her staff are awesome! I went in for a consultation only a few days after requesting the appointment, the staff were accommodating and thorough, and when Dr. Song saw me, I felt like I was able to articulate my dental situation to her.
She only saw me for about ten minutes, and very quickly concluded that my dental situation could not be solved by orthodontics and basically walked me right back out of the office.
I really respect a doctor that makes recommendations based on what’s best for the patient, and not what makes them the most money!
This is especially notable because two other orthodontists in the area said that they would do it! Be careful with these guys — if you’re not sure, go to Dr. Song to get a second opinion.

I recently (less than a year ago) went through Dr. Song for invisalign. I was nervous because i didn’t think that i would get the same result that i would with metal braces. I am beyond satisfied for the same price, it is much more comfortable and faster. I had an over bite and a crooked front tooth my dentist didn’t think i would approve for invisalign but Dr. Song made it happen in less than a year. She is professional, friendly and takes pride in her work. You get what you pay for and you will not be disappointed. Invisalign is very hi-​tech nowadays and she specializes in it, its not uncomfortable and you do not have any food restrictions. You have to wear them 22 hours out of the day and change them when needed, but if you maintain a strict schedule with your teeth a two year metal braces experience could turn in to less than a year of clear aligners and its the same price!!!

I took my son Roan to I Song for braces. It was a fantastic experience. He has his self confidence back and a beautiful smile:)

I recently went to I Song because I wanted to replace my two dirty and worn out retainers. I have had these retainers for 5 years and when I told the receptionist about what I wanted to do, she said it would be $ 200 each — a total of $ 400. During the appointment, Dr. Song asked me to show her my retainer. I opened the case, and she looked at the retainer and said she can wash it with the ultrasonic. When it was time to pay, I was expecting a fee for using the ultrasonic, but she did that free of charge. She saved me $ 200, even though she could have just made me replace both retainers for a grand total of $ 400. In the end, I do not think the $ 200 was too hefty of a price because I used the same retainer for 5 years.
All my meetings with Dr. Song were pleasant. She does lay down the law if a patient does not take care of their teeth. The aforementioned sentence should not cause customers to shrink in fear, but should cause customers to be happy that Dr. Song wants the process to be successful so customers do not need to spend more money to do the entire process over again.
My process with braces was relatively fast compared to my friends. Having braces is uncomfortable and inconvenient, but flossing will expedite the process. I really wanted to process to be quick and done before college, so I developed a flossing obsession (floss three to four times a day). I got braces my junior year (spring semester) in high school and got them off in my senior year (fall semester).
Dr. Song is always friendly and will remember things you tell her in appointments. She cares and you can tell because after intermittent breaks between appointments, she will not ask the same questions.

My daughter broke the wire on her braces the morning we were leaving for a weeklong trip. A day that the office was closed. I called Dr. Song’s emergency line, heard back within 30 minutes, and she met me at the office with a smile on her face within the hour. Wire fixed, trip saved. This office is fantastic. They are always pleasant, responsive and professional. Couldn’t be happier.

Love it here! Always look forward to coming for my appointments! Friendly staff and Dr Song is so knowledgeable and helpful. She is very skilled at Invisalign. I would recommend this orthodontist to anyone looking for a friendly and professional place!

My wife and I had a follow up appointment to discuss our son’s future treatment today. Unfortunately my wife got tied up at work, and could not make it. I rushed to get there on time, only to wait for nearly 45 minutes before being seen. AND the consultation lasted all of 6 minutes!
Something is horribly wrong with all this. There was not a single «sorry for making you wait so long» from the doctor. Her assistant did mention earlier to me that the doctor was running a bit behind. However, I guess when you own the dental practice, apologies are not necessary.
The visit itself was memorable to me for one other reason. The doctor comes in and says, «nice to meet you.» Problem is I had been to three previous appointments with my son.
Obviously the place is way overbooked and things are slipping. However, due to previous nice visits, I am hoping this was an exception and will give them another chance.

I have to give Dr. Song and staff a huge shout out! My anxiety-​prone son was really having a hard time especially when his braces were first on – frankly, he was stressing me out! Dr. Song could not have been more wonderful and understanding; not only is she a good orthodontist but she gets kids, including teenage boys, and is willing to talk through and advise parents on issues kids may be conflating with braces! Not all doctors have the ability to see the whole patient – Dr. Song does. If you want someone who is both technically good and has a true desire to understand her patient and help them, I highly reccommend her!

This orthodontics office is the most inviting, aesthetically pleasing, low-​pressure, and kind office I have ever been to by far. Dr. Song is extremely caring and very gentle for those who’s mouths are especially sensitive, like mine. The other members of the staff are so kind and considerate and they greeted me by name upon every single one of my visits. Going to the dentist is one of my least favorite things to do but I looked forward to every visit to Dr. Song and her incredible team! I had braces for the first time and my teeth were all over the place to begin with, but now they’re perfectly straight. I have absolutely no complaints and it was almost sad to get my braces off, as now I don’t get to visit them nearly as often. I recommend this orthodontics 100%!

Dr song is super nice and relatable. She made me feel welcomed and I am so grateful! I went to her because I lost my retainer. I can tell you right now that Isong has the best price for a replacement retainer in the Berkeley area. Not only that, but because the first one didn’t fit perfectly, she made a second one for me free of charge! Only a orthodontist who really cares about her patient would do that. I am truly grateful and it was a wonderful experience.

This review is very much overdue (as I got my braces off in February 2013), but I would really like to thank Dr. Song and her staff for my smile – I still love it!
My experience at iSong shows that Dr. Song and her staff genuinely care about each of their patients. They handle every unique situation differently.
In 2010, I came into Dr. Song’s office expecting that I would have my braces off by 2012. However, due to some issues with my back molars refusing to grow out, this process was extended until 2013. Dr. Song was extremely patient with me and tracked the progress of these two molars every month I came in. She wasn’t in any particular rush to meet a projected deadline, rather to make sure that my smile was perfect. She and her entire staff worked with me for an additional year to straighten out my back teeth – teeth that you can’t even see when you smile – but because Dr. Song felt that these two teeth were important, she helped me through the entire process.
Furthermore, I had a knack of constantly breaking brackets. I think I broke six throughout the course of my treatment (and I even swallowed one … oops!), but Dr. Song and her staff were very understanding about it and always helped accommodate my needs. At first I thought she’d be angry with me, especially when I broke the same bracket three times, but that was never the case. Dr. Song always remained very kind and professional.
When I got my braces off, they gave me a little balloon and goody-​bag filled with items I shouldn’t have been eating while I had braces on (nuts, gum, crunchy granola bars, etc.). They also took a picture of my brace-​less smile. Finally, before I walked out their office, every single one of their staff members congratulated me. They are really such a warm, welcoming group of people.
Another rare aspect to iSong Orthodontics that I really love is that they care about the community and environment as well. During the three years I was with iSong, they moved their office to an environmentally-​friendly location. In their new office, there are little fliers reminding you to turn off faucets and conserve water. You can also tell that Dr. Song has done a variety of charity work by the number of thank-​you certificates she has displayed. They even have a wall of «Braceless Faces» of former patients.
Also, iSong always hosts giveaways, raffles and activities for their patients all year-​round. If you visit their Facebook page, you can see that they do anything from Mother/Father’s day baskets to collecting pictures for their annual patient-​calendar.
Did I make it obvious enough that Dr. Song cares yet?
Overall, I have been extremely satisfied with my experience with iSong Orthodontics. There are no words to describe how thankful I am for their hard work and dedication, and how much I love my smile! If you are in search for an orthodontist, look no further – I highly recommend iSong.

Dr. Song came highly recommended, and after consulting with a number of orthodontists I chose her. Unlike other places, you will always see one Dr. at your appointment, not a rotating crew of unfamiliar faces. It feels less assembly-​line like than other places I visited. I am an adult with intricate issues – I’d been told by several dentists and orthodontists that I needed jaw surgery – but Dr. Song has been able to avoid that – a major accomplishment in my book. Courteous, professional staff who accommodate both my son and myself for many emergencies!

Definitely a great place to go! Dr. Song and all the staff are friendly and they really care about helping you out. Unlike some places that might treat you as «another number» or «just another patient», they genuinely care that you’re taken care of and your concerns are addressed. Additionally, they’ve made accommodations for me on multiple occasions throughout my treatment period. For example, I had a wedding to attend and they removed my braces for a temporary period and gave me a retainer. This helped me be confident in taking those unforgettable wedding photos.
Overall, it was a great experience. If you’re looking for a place beyond just credentials, this is the place for you.

After getting dental xrays for an upcoming wisdom teeth removal, my surgeon noticed something very unusual in the alignment of my teeth. He discovered that my canine and the tooth next to it, not the molar, grew in the others’ place. He claimed to have never seen anything like that, and this is an individual who is well respected and regarded in the field.
I had never noticed this switch and it actually never caused any discomfort or getting in the way of eating. Soon after, I decided to get braces. I visited with about 3 orthodontists in the area, and decided on Dr. Song. I am so glad that I did!
In sharing the news about my teeth, the other 2 orthodontists expressed their concern for not being able to give me the ideal results. They weren’t entirely sure how to approach the situation given my interesting case. However, Dr. Song was confident that she could give me those results. Aside from my rare situation, I also had a significant overbite, my top and bottom teeth were badly flaring out, and of course my teeth were very crooked!
Throughout my treatment (completed it about 2 yrs ago) she and her staff were and continue to be professional, caring, flexible, and approachable. Oh and I absolutely loved the results! The transformation was remarkable and I could not have been happier with the results.
One more thing, after completing my treatment I lost my retainers and both times after calling Dr. Song’s office, I quickly was seen, even if she didn’t have an available appointment – she would squeeze me in between clients! This yet again were reminders of how much she cared and how she was still determined in keeping my teeth beautiful and me happy.

I have had an overbite and gaps in my teeth my entire life.
My parents didin’t have enough money while I was growing up for me to get braces so at 29 I decided to finally get them.
I am so glad I decided on Dr. Song.
She was professional, consistent and she did an amazing job with my teeth and bite.
I went to another orthodontists for a consultation before I went to Dr. Song and they told me I would need jaw surgery to fix my bite. That procedure alone was over 20k!!!
When I had my original consultation with Dr. Song she was very honest and straight up with me. She told me that she could work with me and fix my bite without surgery. She said that I would never have a perfect bite but that she could get it as close to perfect as it can be. I appreciated her honesty and straight forward approach.
My braces have been off for almost two years now and I am so stoked that I had it done.
I would recommend Dr. Song and her awesome team to anyone.

Thank you Dr. Song for the reimbursement for the retainer. It is much appreciated and I feel a lot better about what happened. Perhaps it was all just a misunderstanding. Thanks again.

My fiancé finally scheduled his appointment for his braces. I was very impressed by Dr Song and her office. You definitely feel the love and care for her career and happiness of her patience.
The office and equipments are up to date which is always nice.
Everyone here is nice, if you have any questions they explain it thoroughly. Makes your experience comfortable.

I love, love, love Dr. Song!!! My daughter had a very pronounced over bite and an off set bite due to cerebral palsy. We were recommended for consultation by our family dentist Dr. Marilyn Ballard whom we love. I knew my daughters teeth were not great but in my eyes she looked like any other teenager going through an «awkward» stage. I must admit I was a bit cautious and frightened about the out come. Now, seeing her teeth and how far we have come, I cannot believe this is the same mouth. Dr. Song is incrediable.
At our consultation Dr. Song gave us several options one included resetting the jaw which we decided not to do. My child has has a few major surgeries and I decided to spare her one more. We proceeded with braces with a few extractions making room for the teeth to shift and come together as the spaces closed. I am so happy with this choice. We are almost at the end and I must admit, my daughters teeth are absolutely gorgeous! It means so much to me to see her smile look so healthy and beautiful! It has done so much for her self-​esteem to have her teeth straightened. It is such a blessing. She was so beautiful before… Now she is radiant. ;)
Dr. Song and her entire staff are just a joy! We love every single person there. They accommodate our wheelchair with ease. They are kind and patient. My daughter often tells me what she can and cannot eat and has frequently said «Dr. Song says I can’t have that!» lol. She feels like a partner in the process and says she is sad to be getting her braces off as they are a cool accessory. LOL!!!
I would recommend Dr. Song to any and every one. I trusted her with my treasure, my child. I am so grateful to have found her.
