Genoa Importing

Genoa Imports over everything. I won’t go to Bella Napoli ever again. I usually get turkey, fresh mozz, lettuce, and mayo large sub. It’s huge and I can get two meals out of it. The bread is great and always fresh. I like the cookies and other items they receive from other bakeries. It’s a smaller store and smaller parking lot, but it’s worth it all for a fresh sub that’s the same price as nasty Subway and better ingredients than Bella.

Fantastic specialty subs, awesome fresh baked bread, quick and attentive service. I love old school joints like this. If you are looking for the best sandwich in the Capital District, look no further than Genoa!

Genoa has been here for as long as I can remember. Inside it’s an Italian grocery store as well as deli, and they offer authentic Italian food and goodies. It’s a tiny place, but definitely worth stopping in.
I went in yesterday on my lunch hour as a treat to myself and ordered a Lindsey (an Italian mix). Now, I have eaten authentic Italian, and the submarine sandwiches at Genoa are without a doubt as good as it gets — however, the space is small and it’s difficult to maneuver around, which is really the only reason I gave it 4 stars. However, food-​wise, it’s 5 stars hands down! Plus, sub sandwiches are well-​priced for the food you get — $ 8.99 for a GIGANTIC footlong sub — I ate half for lunch, then the other half for dinner! :)

We went here after work and it was fairly busy. There isn’t great access to the register. The shop has a wide selection of specialty items. There is a wide selection of pasta sauces, olive oil and pasta.
I ordered the meatball sub and my boyfriend went with the Dangerous Dom. Both subs were fantastic. They cost $ 9, but are huge and really make for two meals. I like my meatball sub a little spicy, so next time I’m going to add spicy peppers or go with the sausage and meatball sub.
We bought homemade marinara sauce ($ 6) and 12 sundried tomato ravioli ($ 9) to cook at home. Sauce was chunky and had an excellent flavor. The ravioli were very good, but really rich. We split them across two people, but they might be more enjoyable in a smaller portion size because they were so flavorful. The best part about cooking these is that your kitchen will smell wonderful for a day or two after.

Going to Siena, Genoa is a go to spot if you want a terrific sub or some prepared food (if you are sick of the dining hall). This place is relatively close, definitely walking distance in the nice weather. There is a small parking lot but also a side road that you can park on. Employees are friendly and have quick service.

I’ve been to Genoa a number of times. They make some AMAZING subs. They do subs the way you’d expect to have a sub…
Great tasting bread, and not light handed on the meat and toppings.
They also have a very extensive selection of specialty subs which are incredible.
(My favorite is the «Terrible Todd» but minus the cole slaw)
My only gripe with this place is honestly they could make it crazy better if they redid their entire store… hear me out…
The building is ancient and feels like its slowly falling apart. its so jam packed crowded with shelves and soda coolers you can barely navigate two people next to each other through most of this tiny spot, and it is just flat out a crappy layout.
If they dumped some money into getting rid of all that extra clutter and even made a nice sit down area where people could sit and eat lunch there… I’m sure they could be doing crazy more business.
All in all, they are some great people who get your attention right away while there to take your order and help you out.
You can’t really beat Genoa, they are the best sub place anywhere remotely close by.

Went here with some friends, seven of us. 24 hours later, all of us started getting extremely sick. One kid at 10pm, one at midnight, one at 2am, e.t.c.
Long story short, all of us acquired severe food poisoning from a place I used to love. Paid $ 25 for my girlfriend and I so Genoa could ruin our night as we stayed up vomiting all night and we were not able to sleep. Wasn’t able to leave the bed the next day. Never coming here again.

It has become very difficult to find a truly good sub these days. Even some of my favorite sub shops and delis have been disappointing lately, with inconsistent quality, stale rolls, skimpy fillings, etc… So today when the idea of subs for lunch came up, we did a little research and happened across this place.
I was nervous, I won’t lie. When you want something certain it’s not always the best idea to give a new place a shot. But the reviews looked good, so we threw caution to the wind and went for it. COULDN’T BE HAPPIER! This was hands-​down the best sub I have had in years. Flavorful, fresh ingredients and a delicious chewy roll… and the sub was seriously big enough to split (trust me on this, cause Casey doesn’t share food).
I can’t wait to try this place again very soon! Please give them a try if you haven’t already — you won’t be disappointed!

Terrific NYC Style deli… great subs and rolls… only wish they delivered… I showed some State Workers the menu, but too far to get to for lunch… Please start delivering!!!

Love this place — it’s a hidden gem. When I worked in Menands, we’d order from here all the time. The bread is good, the quality is consistent, and the bread to filling ratio on the sandwiches/​subs is pretty even.
Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. Don’t hesitate to ask questions about anything — can I sub something? Is there another meat/​cheese that would go well with this?
The olive bar is delicious and all the deli meats are to die for — especially the roast beef. If you need a big order, call ahead as it’s a small shop that does high volume.
Pro Tip — the Vicarious Visions is named after a Menands business and it super good, bacon, chicken, and ranch with some other good stuff in there.

Quality foods with great people. Definitely worth going here to buy all your meats and other hot meals. The buffalo chicken tenders are fantastic. I get them in subs and in orders of 24 pieces as well. They are helpful with any order I’ve ever asked for.

Not a lot to review as I stopped in to purchase of cuts but my word of advice is to bring your credit card checkbook and banker. Maybe there’s prices were posted and I didn’t see them but I was shell shocked when was quarter pound each of roast beef and corned beef cane to $ 8.50. They better be good! Also they place is almost impossible to moved through…

How I have lived in Albany almost 3 years without knowing about this place I don’t know, but I am going to spend the next couple of years making up for lost time. This is a small mom and pop deli/​grocery that represents everything I love about local businesses. It has everything you could ever want, frozen ravioli of every flavor, Ben and Jerry’s, every kind of Boar’s head deli meat you could want, canned/​bottled sandwich toppings, Italian pasta dishes, soup, the list goes on. On my first visit here we ordered the turkinator which was heavenly turkey, mayo, bacon, lettuce, tomato and jalapeños (heated up) on a huge sub large enough to feed at least two people. Because it was a cold fall day I also sprung for the chicken noodle soup which might as well been made by my mom because it tasted homemade with chunks of chicken and real pasta. Major WINNER. Come here, order anything, you won’t regret it!

Hands down the best Italian deli this side of the Mason-​Dixon Line. I’ve been going here as long as I can remember.
Thy have an unrivaled signature sub menu along with awesome signature focaccia paninis, homemade pizza and Italian dishes. One of my favorites is the A-​Rod or the spring special.
The pasta fagioli is always on point. But the icing on the cake at Genoa’s is most definitely the homemade crumb cake. No like it’s like 80:20 crumb to cake ratio. It’s ambrosia.

I have been going here for well over a decade, and have tried the majority of the products that they offer. Everything is superb, especially their special subs. They also offer bulk items such as potato salad, fresh mozzarella, meats, cheeses, etc.

This place is one of the best in the area. Their hot subs/​specialty subs are amazing! The subs aren’t cheap but you get A LOT. I think the bread they use is a little heavy for cold subs but perfect for hot subs with sauces. I would rather only take away a half star for that which is purely personal preference but that isn’t possible. Some people in my office think the rolls are the best in the area so YOU BE THE JUDGE! Try The Shilling or the Terrible Todd, YOU’LL BE HOOKED!

I feel stupid. I have lived down the road from Genoa for 8 years. and last week was my first time there. Never knew about the fresh subs, sandwiches and hot Italian meals they can prepare. My sub (Doctor Otto) was a dinner AND lunch! Soo delicious and primo ingredients. Wife got the manicotti dinner with marinara sauce substitute for meat sauce. She devoured the whole thing and told me it was the best she’s had!
I just placed another order for tonight. This is my new neighborhood place to go.
Website is excellent. Food incredible. Atmosphere is charming. Employees are just all good people. Give them a try. You will love it.

Genoa is a very solid deli. Boars Head products shine here with cleverly put together subs and sandwiches. Subs here are huge, but I like that they have some other options like Ciabatta. They have food made to order as well, but I can’t ever stop myself from getting a sub. The staff is friendly and quick, but I like to call ahead so it’s ready to go when I get there.
They do have some packaged foods imported, but the selection consists of mostly essentials to throw something together for dinner that night.

Best wings in town — I won’t even bother ordering them elsewhere. The subs are great, too — we especially like the Siena Fat Guy sub. Also great if you need to pick up a few things for dinner — Italian market type stuff.
Service is friendly and efficient, even when it’s busy. We often call in our orders and they have been perfectly filled every single time.

This place is amazing. There subs are ENORMOUS, delicious, and reasonably priced. You really can’t go wrong. I recommend the Norm Subastian, the John Allen and the Little Piggy. I’ve also had their eggplant parm and their lasagna — both delish. You can’t go wrong with Genoa.
