I gotta say they are redoing the whole place. Construction everywhere. They offer Chinese, Cantonese, Taiwanese, and Mongolian grill. Was never a fan of the old place but I just recently went for lunch because I’ve been hearing good things about them. I gotta say I love the sushi! Really good. Been here about 6 times for lunch over a 4 month period and haven’t hit it on a bad day yet. Really very good. They are putting a lot of money redesigning the place. Looking forward to seeing the finished project!

Food was good /ok. Wait staff unfriendly. I told the male wait staff the snow chicken was cold. He stirred it, walked off and didn’t even acknowledge. It was like he could have cared less.

This place is my favorite Chinese buffet in the Capital region — right off of Central Ave in Albany NY. They usually have really fresh food and many many varieties. They also have a great make-your-own-soup bar and a mongoloian bbq that can’t be beat. If you go in too late in the day, however, say after 8pm, it is a bit of a crap shoot. They have to keep the food fresh and refilled, however, there may not be as many people as customers. It is understandable that there could be a lot of waste at this point, so there is a bit less refilling going on. My recommendation to you is to make sure you get there a good hour or so before closing for the absolute best experience.

For 17 bucks including tips, it’s a bargain. Buffet serves Japanese rolls, Chinese food, cut fruit, ice creams and some one-bite pastries. None of it looked appetizing to me, but others were flocking to the buffet twice & thrice & returning to their tables to gobble it up.

Clean and friendly. Don’t be fool by the outside. Very nice inside and good food too. What you would expect from a Chinese buffet.

Large selection of tasty Chinese and American foods for 8 $ at lunch time. The many varieties of chicken are the best, and they even have sushi, duck, stuffed mushrooms, dumplings, meat pie, potatoes, pizza, great egg drop soup. One thing that is greatly appreciated is that buffet items have signs letting you know if it is gluten free– I’m not but my friends are. And yeah, the service isn’t stellar, but don’t expect to be treated like a king at a Chinese American $ 8 buffet outside of Albany N.Y. At least you won’t have to leave a big tip!

This place has changed so many times including the owners. The only good thing I love from here is the noodle bar, which I either get the roasted duck noodle soup or beef brisket and tendon noodle soup or maybe sometimes both! The food is never the same as it used to be. It is a buffett after all. It is a typical Chinese buffett from beef and broccoli to General tso and also crab legs. They even serve pizza and mac n cheese. They have a sushi section which in my opinion doesn’t taste very fresh. There is an ice cream machine towards the back. Prices are very cheap about $ 16 per person and kids under 10 years old eat half off.

I just don’t get the appeal of places like this. I came for lunch with a couple of friends and we arrived just after noon. It was packed. It’s just 8 bucks for lunch, and the buffet is huge. Dozens upon dozens of choices. All of the standard takeout Chinese dishes are represented, as well as things like sushi, pizza, chicken nuggets, and other American buffet staples. Plus various desserts, fruit, and salad. I don’t think anything I ate was ‘bad’. But all of it is just so incredibly mediocre, and I left full, but unsatisfied. The only thing I had that I thought was really good was the kimchi. In my opinion there are so many other better ways to spend $ 8 for lunch, and you’ll be just as full too.

this is our favorite buffet in the Latham/Schenectady area. we have been there at least 10 times, always after 6pm for the dinner buffet. their mac and cheese is so good, super cheesy. they do the chinese dishes well, coconut chicken, general tsos, lo mein, etc. the sushi selection they put out isn’t huge, but everthing is really tasty. if you ask them, they’ll make you custom rolls, they have for me both times i’ve asked. the only item i’ve disliked is the egg roll, i got it once and didn’t care for it but haven’t given it a second try. try this place expecting a fine dining experience and you’ll probably be disappointed, but expect average buffet food and you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

I have been to Dragon Buffet two times and feel that I have a true opinion of this restaurant. There is a large selection of food. That is a positive thing. However, the food is not warm, and is mostly at room temperature. The sushi and most of the trays look like they have been left overs from the previous day. I have arrived at 11:45 and 12:15. At these times the trays should be full and at a good temperature. Also, the staff at most of these buffets always seem to want to be elsewhere. They never offer a refill on sodas of try to act pleasant. No tipping needed here. But I will not be back so tipping is not an issue.

I like this place a lot, especially duck. Good place to fill up. However, the food prob has a lot of MSG because my boyfriend and I always get really thirsty afterwards.

my mom and i used to come here for over four years and the service and food has steadily declined. I think there was a change of ownership from what i understand. I know it’s not fine dining. A buffet should not only have a wide variety, which it does although the food selection hasn’t changed much, but at least some hot and somewhat fresh cooked food that doesn’t look like yesterday’s leftovers. In the last 3 visits, I have gotten food poisoning each time. I was so upset because I really like filling up at this place with my mom and friends but i would rather not suffer no longer. Unless there is another change of ownership, i refuse to come back again.

Servers look like they hate working here. They talk with a lot of attitude despite the fact that it was not very packed at the buffet. Food is dry and ice cream is bad as well.

I don’t know where everyone is eating at that is so much better that make this place sound like a dive bar. For the price you get a great selection better than any where in the region that I know. The only other place that I know is better is in niskayuna. But I would like to save a good few dollars. Its a Chinese buffet not a fine dining establishment.

As much as you care to eat for about $ 10!!! Is some of the food gross? Yes. Good spot for a date, out of town guests? No. This is a great place to fill up. With care u can find nice items on buffet. They even have ice cream cones for dessert) Go with a big appetite and low expectations — you will be pleasantly surprised.

Been going here for years & the quality has declined. Every time I come the food is the same, BELOWAVERAGE. This was last time I’ll visit Dragon Buffet. There are so many better places to eat in Albany!

So strange… I know. We were in Albany for business and decided to stop in. Buffet and motel? Why not? Typical buffet fare with nothing of note. Good replenishing and average flavors, clean too. Service was good. Go if you like this sort of thing.
