We are one of more than 600 lay Diamond Way Buddhist Centers and Groups of the Karma Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism around the world.
Our centers function under the spiritual authority of H.H. the 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje, and under the direction of Lama Olé Nydahl.
Diamond Way Buddhist Group of Albany, NY offers public meditation every Tuesday at 7:30pm at two alternating locations (see our website for more info). Walk ins are welcome. For newcomers we offer introduction to the Buddhist view, lineage, and meditation practice found by Buddha 2500 years ago relevant and directly applicable to the lives of lay practitioners today.
Lama Olé with his wife Hannah have been integral forces in adapting the timeless wisdom of Diamond Way Buddhism to the Western society via request of their teacher 16h Karmapa, His Holiness Rangjung Rigpei Dorje. The first consciously reincarnating yogi of Tibet.
History
Established in 2008.
Diamond Way Centers started being developed in the West for over 40 years. DWBC of Albany started public practice and meditation in 2008. Main goals are individual potential development, efficiency, and altruism towards others developed on intrinsic balance of wisdom and compassion. The Karma Kagyu lineage methods are as useful and relevant to today’s modern lifestyle as they were 2500 years ago.
