We use fresh ingredients that are primarily local, organic, natural and sustainable. Also we use halal meat and will be happy to tend to your dietary needs. History

Established in 2013.

The Delhi Diner is a culmination of the hard work and effort put forth by a husband & wife team– Krishna & Subhash and their beautiful daughter, Aakanksha, a 2005 Albany High School alumni.

Food & hospitality for us has been an adventure for the past 33 years. We take great pleasure in inviting you to discover our rich culinary heritage that has developed throughout many centuries in India.

I have been in the food and hospitality business from 1980 .I ran a thriving Indian restaurant in New Delhi, India for over 10 years and then came to United States. This is my first forey into this field on this land of opportunity. I hope to satisfy the cravings for a great meal in a wonderful ambiance with famous Indian hospitality.

Pleasant ambiance, service staff and tasty food. It’s a good option for a sit down dinner, large or small groups. Liked the goat kadai, and the seekh kababs and the parantha was done very well.

Thanks to Eat24, I’ve eaten here so many times from my bed. Yes, I eat in bed.
I’ve ordered through the Unilocal!/Eat24 app numerous times. Highly, highly recommend.
Here’s why:
Food quality: superb. Phenomenally delicious. Favs are chicken tikka masala and the vegetarian masala with cheese cubes. I order it hot, and its the perfect level of spiciness. Love the garlic, cilantro naan, and cheese stuffed naan. A side of the mint chutney adds a perfect complimentary flavor.
Timeliness: the Eat24 app confirms the restaurant received my order and gives an estimated delivery time. The guys always show up within that time frame and call as they’re pulling up so I can come to the door.
Ease of payment: I order through PayPal and it’s done with just a click. So easy.
I would order for here for just me! I would order from here for a date night or a movie night with friends. The food is delicious and ridiculously convenient to order.

My favorite Indian place in the bay area.
I’ve not yet tried the all menu but nothing yet has disappointed me, the butter chicken is fabulous and is by far my favorite dish there.
It might seems like a an $$$ place a first but look again it is tips included .
If you order to go there is takes about 15 minutes to get your food.

Superb and yet terribly simple chicken tikka masala was the star of our meal the other night. Ordered medium in spice level, it had just enough undercurrent heat to keep things tasty and creamy too. The chicken pieces were hearty and thick, also moist. Along with the moist basmati rice and the phenomenal garlic and cilantro naan, Delhi Diner was exactly the nice and flavorful quick dinner before a movie along what is a very busy street with many other options.

Best spot in the area for quality, tasty and reasonably priced Indian food. Lovely staff who make you feel like guests over for dinner. They are very knowable and proud of their food and it shows.

Unilocal’s rating failed me this time!
I have no idea where does this place get their 4.5 stars? We walked in at 6:40pm the restaurant was almost empty (there is a reason), but Unilocal says it has 4.5 stars, so we still sat down bravely. My husband asked the waitress for recommendation of a starter (wrong move), she recommended the most expensive one on the menu and the food was not only tasted terrible but tremendously over priced, all I could tasted was flour, you can’t even find the cauliflower crumbs. I ended up asked the waitress send the dish back to the kitchen, all she said was «sorry». It’s a small amount of deep fried flour nuggets coat $ 13-​. We paid for nothing! First time here and last!

Food: good! Delivery: not good!
I’m sorry, but delivery is not getting a phone call and insisting you come out to the street to pick up your order from some dude in a car. On top of that, coping attitude towards your customers for not immediately coming out is not customer service.
This is the only «delivery» joint that does this. I have never experienced that before. And of course, I had to shuffle out in the cold while I was fighting a terrible cold and fever.
Unacceptable, I will not be ordering again.

Food was delicious! This is hands down my favorite Indian place to go, we drive here all the way from Emeryville to get our fix. Aakanksha was super friendly and great with our kid, she had all the best recommendations.

Ordered Saag Paneer, Lamb Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan, Sev Puri, and a Mango Lassi.
All very good. The portions are a bit small considering they don’t come with rice or naan.
They have music every Friday and Saturday night. It was kind of cool watching a guy kneeling on top of a table playing a sitar during dinner. Our son definitely liked it.

Review is for lunch catering for about 20 work colleagues. Why go to a buffet when you can make your own selections! Food was supposed to arrive at 11:15 am but showed up at around 11:30 am — not bad since folks were still coming in.
We ordered vegetarian and chicken samosas (each with distinctive shapes), butter chicken, naan, pappadam, lamb kabobs, and saag. I liked everything except the naan was thicker and more doughy than I’m used to. The lamb kabobs were tender and well seasoned, but had an interesting, red coloring like they have in Tandoori chicken. Pappadam bread was among the best I’ve had — crispy and actually seasoned well.
Will definitely keep them in mind for catering next time. I’d even be interested in visiting their restaurant if I’m in the Albany/​El Cerrito area.

I was a bit hesitant to come in for an appetizer, because I was alone and dressed in sweats and the place had a formal look. (But that is my benchmark test, as I’m almost always in sweats and I dine alone… A lot… Don’t feel sorry for me, I love to dine in peace! You can really taste the food!)
I was warmly welcomed (internal awkwardness abated) and placed at a table I requested. (Where I could hide!) The owner, I presume, told me about the special and highly recommended it. It was a gluten-​free, vegetarian meal. When I mentioned I was there only for an appetizer, but would take the special to go, he was accommodating, but advised the meal would be best consumed at Delhi.
It was my fifteen minutes for self-​preservation, after a day of giving, giving, giving as a mom, daughter, friend and employee. These 15 minutes did not disappoint. Nor did the take-​home meal I put together around 11pm!
Water was served in an antiquated-​looking cup (didn’t benefit the water, but was pretty). I ordered their tomato tomato soup and was asked if I wanted it mild, medium or spicy. I opted for medium, but would go for mild next time. It was delicious, but too spicy. Mainly because I had a cough already and some laryngitis, it was a bit much for my throat — though I REALLY wanted to finish it! The owner’s son (family member) came to check on me. How embarrassing!
The take home crêpe with vegetables and chutney was awesome. (I forget the name of the dish, but it was a Monday night special.)
All in all, an excellent place with superb food. Very romantic for two. I was just missing one!
I’d only ask that the fake flowers be replaced with real ones or something more authentic. In my opinion, fake = tacky. But this was not a tacky place.
Last thing. To my delight, I learned they have delivery service and you can order on-​line.
. A plus for a busy mom. I hope this place makes it on Solano Ave. They deserve to. Love reviewing local restaurants!

This restaurant is one of my favorite comfort food spots in the Solano area. The owner is passionate about the business, and the ingredients are of a noticeably high quality. (The owner ran a restaurant in India 20 years and now shops for ingredients for dinners every day).
The service has been excellent every time I’ve visited, where the staff comes over and sincerely checks throughout meals, and they take pride in providing not just good, but excellent food.

When my friend told me there was a new Indian restaurant on Solano, I knew where I wanted to have dinner: Delhi Diner.
There was a huge group of people exiting as we walked in. I could see the carnage they left behind: food on the floor, dirty dishes, among other things. The staff cleaned the mess up and placed the tables back in their original positions.
I was all set to start with some samosas when my friend talked me into the fish tikka. I’m glad he did. It was outstanding. I ate one piece, and then another. I had to restrain myself because I knew the main courses were arriving soon and I did not want to fill up on fish no matter how good it was.
The almond chicken korma caught our eye on the list of specials at the center of the table, so we ordered that. It was excellent. The chicken was tender and tasty. The sauce went well with the naan. Needless to say, the dish was wiped clean by naan when we were done with the chicken.
We also ordered the lamb boti kabob. That may have been the highlight of the meal. It was simply prepared without any sauce, very tender, and nicely presented on the serving plate. We loved every big hunk of lamb! We wished for more.
Our dinner was pricey, but worth it.

A lovely, spacious room, warm and friendly service, reasonable prices and sensible serving sizes at lunch. And the food is excellent, cooked to order. I had the lamb rogan josh lunch set, which comes with naan, rice, mixed pickle and a really delicious lentil soup. I also tried the jaljeera to drink, made of mint, cilantro, salt and I think lime. My server helpfully suggested I try it before ordering a full glass. I ended up ordering one, possibly because I didn’t want to be unadventurous. Let’s just say I’m glad I tried it.
Around $ 20 including tip, and well worth it.

I’ve been here three times for lunch/​dinner and have always ordered the same thing every time! If it taste absolutely delicious, why bother getting anything else.
Service is nice and attentive. I always order the special Goat Biryani. It taste absolutely fantastic and is full of so many great flavors. The mixture of spices is incredible. I wish I knew about this place sooner! They do a great job of making the goat meat very tender and I think keeping the bone as part of the biryani adds to that level of a deeper flavor. And them my favorite part is sucking any of the meat out of the bones!
For the time being, my new go to Indian place.

The best yet the food is amazing! I’m pretty picky, but this food is so fresh and good! You have to make your way down here soon! So worth it! Yum! I can’t wait to go back!

This place delivers on everything except what matters: the food. The live music was great, the cutlery was really nice, the staff was polite, and the décor was nice as well. The food was like a blind date gone terribly wrong.
I had the Chicken Mahkni (similar to butter chicken) and it was just super bland and had zero spice to it. That wasn’t even the bad part… they used the absolute cheapest parts of the chicken. The entire time we kept biting into bones and cartilage and knuckles and who knows what else. At the end, I had a tiny mountain of grossness on my plate from what my teeth weren’t strong enough to chew through. It was honestly a rather disgusting version of what you would expect from a place with this many good reviews. We still don’t understand it. The waitress asked us twice, just to be sure, if we wanted to take the leftovers home as if it was an insult to leave any of this slop behind.
I can’t even blame it on it being Americanized since we’ve had plenty of great Indian food across the states. Now I’m just spending the rest of the night trying not to burp so I don’t have to taste it again a second time.
