Peter Bogdan was not only incompetent but worse of all, he was unethical. It took him 3 long months to complete a simple wiring project for a back cottage. I couldn’t reach him for weeks at a time. He insisted on being prepaid. ANd he insisted on being reimbursed for parts when he really should have included parts in his estimate as most reputable contracters and electricians do. When a light switched didn’t work, we asked him to come back and fix it. He said it would cost another $ 250. We discovered many months after he left, that he left the crawl space a complete wreck. Another contracter said he left wires dangling, he created what could have been fire hazard, he left his trash behind. He was simply awful!

We would strongly advise against using Peter Bogdan for any kind of electrical job, and especially larger jobs. We hired Peter to upgrade our electrical service to 125 amps from 60 amps, as well as replace our fuse box with circuit breakers. Shortly after he began his work on this job, we also had him install a bathroom fan. We could write at length on our extremely negative experience with him, but that is probably beyond the scope of this message board. We have a web page with details of our experience( ). Some of the highlights were: + a one week job ended up taking almost six months to complete + Peter’s unfamiliarity with PG&E rules and regulations caused us to have to pay PG&E $ 2300 + Peter demanded payment in full, months before completing the job + Despite making a firm quote, he subsequently requested more money despite never informing us of the dollar amount of the increase. For the bathroom job, it went from $ 600, all parts included except the the fan itself to $ 1400 + *all* parts. No written contract was supplied until the job was complete. And many other smaller issues, such as leaving a mess, destroying a section of our kitchen ceiling(which it took months for him to repair), leaving many sockets in out house nonoperational for up to a week(including our clothes dryer and stove). Notes added: 1) As of fairly recently, Peter has requested to not be reviewed by the Berkeley Parents Network. You should know that although there was reasonably good feedback for smaller jobs(replacement of GFCI outlets, etc), there was one other case of a very dissatisfied customer with a bathroom fan installation gone awry. Although all reviews have been removed from the BPN website at his request(why did the BPN oblige him?), the original can be found on the Internet Archive, and is reproduced below: «April 2007 Do not use Peter Bodgan(Bodgan Electric) for electrical services. I got his name from BPN. I needed a simple ceiling fan installation. After calling several of the BPN recommendations, he was the only one available right away. He came at 10am and left at 6pm, without having finished the job. He claimed the house was old(1938) and he needed to break open the walls to complete the job. He needed to call someone else to do this part. He did however ask for a check for $ 500 which we paid him(thinking this was more than a job like this should cost). He said he would try to make it back on Thurs. at 11am but would call to confirm. My husband and I both work full time. He didn’t call to confirm. He called me at work at 10:50am from my house asking me if we would be there by 11am. I had to leave work to let him in(along with 3 other guys). After another couple of hours he called me at work to tell me that he got everything hooked up but the fan didn’t work(it worked for a few seconds when he first put the wires together then stopped). He still had to come back to patch the wall and paint. When the job was finally done(although I didn’t have a working fan) he told us the final bill was $ 1200. We got ripped off. I bought a new fan and had someone else install it, who told us the wiring had been done incorrectly and the fan got burnt out when it was turned on. Peter Bogdan claims he is a licensed contractor but his license is not on his card(a state requirement). He took advantage of us and I recommend you do not use him.»
