An Albany staple for a long time. You can’t go wrong when you go here. I usually get the Italian mixed sub and I usually have ½ left for the following day.

I like it You even get a pickle lol The sandwiches are good and fresh. I’m from the city and everyone knows you can’t go to just any store to buy a sandwich. Now that I’m in Albany I’m happy to know that there is a store 4 mins away that actually makes better sandwiches. I just wish they were open on Sunday’s.

We get a sub or two here every week. While we’re there we stock up on dried pasta, fresh mozzarella, olives, and other Italian specialties. The subs are always top notch and the fresh mozzarella is the best I’ve found in the area. The soups are also terrific. A real gem in downtown Albany.

Best deli in Albany, no doubt about it. Growing up in northern NJ I know a solid deli and sandwich shop when I see one, and Andys fits the bill. Everything is delicious, from take home dinners to specialty subs. Italian mix is best I’ve had in a long time. Quantity, quality and the deli experience gives Andy’s 5 stars!

If you like delicious sandwiches, pufftacular pastries, Italian cured meats and old Italian men then this place is perfect for you. First of all I don’t understand why Italian people say«pra-shoot» but I always make sure to say it like that in Italian delis because fitting in and being cool are the most important things in life. You have to respect the culture, you can’t walk into a chinese restaurant and eat with a fork like some kind of disposable camera toting, socks and sandals wearing weirdo foreigner. You have to walk in confidently and say«Crepi il lupo.» The cannolis are incredible. Like, I can’t even. Let me start by saying that I literally cannot when it comes to how incredible these cannolis are. They look great, taste great and they are great. I can’t even. I can though, they’re great. I wrote this poem about eating the subs at the establishment. Sometimes I get hungry and want Italian grub. And you know ya boy is always gonna get a sub. Don’t talk to me when I’m eating because I’m using my lips If you go to pick up my order don’t forget to get chips I like cheese, pasta and pepperoni I bet they have at least one worker named Tony Go down to Andys if you want a treat Especially if you like assorted Italian meat Normally I get the Super Tuscan Ciabatta or the House Special sub which are both dope but today I got one of the subs with chicken cutlets and I was not disappointed.

Best cannoli I’ve ever had in my life. New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey can’t even compare. Amazing music and upbeat atmosphere with Sinatra playing and the people behind the counter speaking Italian. Oh yeah they do sell food there and their cold cuts and homemade products are AMAZING. Especially the pizza. Everything really. Only my Italian grandmother makes better pizza. Their subs are gigantic and fresh. This place has been around for years and I hope they stay around forever. I will miss this place when I leave Albany because I have been going here for over 25 years. And I’m 31. And guess what. Not one bit of change in a negative way has happened here. No. I don’t know the owners and I couldn’t even tell you the names of the brother’s who own? run? work? their. I just know great Italian food. Think I’m lying? Try it for yourself and then visit the other places I reviewed and tell me that this isn’t the truth all around. Then go back and try it again along with their Parma Prosciutto. *The Unilocal Questions are irrelevant and for ones that are marked, there is no way I see to unmark which is a shame. No seating inside but it doesn’t affect this review one bit. It’s a deli. Not a restaurant. If you don’t like it then fahgetaboutit*

I like this place a lot better than another Italian deli down the street, mostly because I find it more authentic and quaint but also because it was less busy when I visited. I was quite overwhelmed(in the best way possible) with all the offerings for sandwiches, so I just told them what I was craving and they made it! They also sliced a huge chunk of Gorgonzola cheese for me and offer these massive cubes of tiramisu. The shop itself is quite small and is take-out only, but they have many prepared dishes and sodas for convenience.

Homemade soppressata, and abruzzese are the finest cured meats in upstate New York, not to mention the selection of imported cheeses to go along with them. I prefer the fontinella, or aged provolone. Andy’s subs are the best in Albany hands down, only competition even close in the capital region is Genoa imports in Loudonville, and Pellegrino’s in North Greenbush, but still no Andy’s. Try a side of antipasto, or the seafood salad loaded with shrimp with a hint of vinegar. Andy’s is a must try in my book.

Andy’s has always been my favorite sub shop in Albany — and the excellence of my opinions were just confirmed when Andy’s won the Italian Deli shootout in Daniel B’s «fussy little blog» last week. My favorite is the house special sub which is Mortadella, Sopressata, Provolone, Roasted Peppers, & Eggplant Slices. Those eggplant slices are something else. I think they are pickled? maybe raw? They are amazing. I always want to buy everything else in the shop while I am there, it is just such a cool place. The guys behind the counter are always busting each other’s chops and it is a fun place to be.

The best! Piece of old Mulberry Street in Albany. 58 years of experience translates to great sandwiches, pasta done right and abundant salads. While you can have the traditional ham and cheese, live a little and go for the Super Tuscan Ciabatta. Tiramisu and cannoli are homemade and delight. Need a sopresata fix? Here’s your go to!

This is the best Italian-American deli that Albany has to offer. If you consider my review a fallacy, just try their House Special, with garlic oil topped off with hot peppers. On another note, also try their spicy calabrese sub. These subs are made from scratch, fresh and generously priced. The subs are $ 7.99 for such generously portioned sized sandwiches, trust me you won’t be disappointed.

As always big and delicious Italian subs. I tried the Super Tuscan Ciabatta Prosciutto, Sicillian Salami, Fresh Mozzarella, Grilled Eggplant, Leaf Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, House Dressing. My friend had the meatball parm which he said was very good and I got an eggplant parm to bring home which is huge and looks delish but since I had that before I sure know it is. The best Italian subs in the area hands down and a delicious wonderful mess, yum.

Best subs in Albany. Hands down. Fresh cold cuts sliced in front of you, genuine recommendations for dinner and great customer service. I’ll let you decide what sub to get because they are all great. Look at other pictures from Unilocalers to prove my point, though I recommend any of the Italian mixes or a caprese sandwich with freshly sliced mozzarella and homemade pesto. However, the market is bar none the best traditional Italian products you can find in Albany all which allow you pretty easily to create perfect meals at home. If you’re feeling lazy, you can purchase ready made take and bake options like spaghetti, meatballs, eggplant and various pasta dishes. The main reason I frequent here besides the sandwiches is to source the correct, most premium ingredients to create my own dishes at home. Whether it’s oils, sauces, cheeses or(edit: and pastas duh) meat you can find it here. The pizza in the photo provided is all sourced from Andy’s themselves. I particularly recommend the in housed cured pepperoni. Above all else the family behind the counter is polite and courteous and most definitely encouraging that you create the best meal you can at home. The younger fellow behind the counter is not shy to help you with tips and recommendations with your meals. I trust him. Thankfully they cater, hopefully they are still around when I finally decide to tie the knot.

Another great Italian sandwich shop in the Capitol Region. The Chicken Pronto was a delicious cold sub that was delicious thanks to the chipotle mayo. The pork philly sub was fantastic as well. The meat was flavorful. The peppers and onions could have used an extra little kick. This place doesn’t have seating which is a bummer, but the service was great. We were treated as if we had been coming here for year. The Italian wedding soup was also delicious. This place caters and they also make their own sauces and ravioli if you’re looking for a shortcut! The subs were huge, unless you’re a 300lb sumo wrestler 2 people can definitely share 1 sub.

Well they did it again. Our party held on the day after Thanksgiving was a huge hit because of the family and friends who attended and the extraordinary food provided by Andy’s. The former couldn’t stop talking about the latter. The three cheese lasagna, sausage and peppers along with cheeses, roasted peppers, prosciutto, and their homemade super sod made for a delicious feast. I really don’t know which is more pleasant, to I react with the family at Andy’s or to eat their food. We are very lucky to have such a high quality establishment in our area. It’s one of the things I was thankful for this year.

Love this place! Super friendly crew working there. I just got a foot long sub with roast beef, mozzarella, and mayo. HUGE! They piled on the roast beef and the mozzarella was so fresh and delicious(and real). I was so stuffed, and so happy. Way better than Cardonas.

Happy Italian guys making great food out of a house(I love houses that are converted into commercial establishments) near the north end of Delaware. When I’m trying a new deli I usually get an Italian mix sub, but at Andy’s decided to try their house special with mortadella, sopressata, provolone(definitely ask for the sharp) and roasted red peppers, all on a puffy roll with sesame seeds. By the time I got to the train to eat it it was dripping out of the wrapping, a very good sign. Only thing that keeps it from five stars is the fact that they use Boars Head meats, which to me have a somewhat generic flavor; the sopressata lacked the characteristic gaminess. But make no mistake, the sandwich was very, very good. I will be back to try the Classic, the Hot Italian and one other whose name I forget. There are treasures waiting on the shelves as well. Altimo 00 flour from Italy, so you can make authentic Neapolitan pizza at home! A little tub of white anchovies for $ 5.95! and lots of house made sauces and condiments.

Great signature subs and sandwiches. I’m bias towards anything but Genoa import in Loudonville because I grew up on it. However these guys are a close second. Staff is always very welcoming and friendly. They have some great signature sandwiches but could definitely use some more.(Main reason why I prefer genoa, they have at least double the amount of sig sandwiches. I’d take these guys over Cardona’s down the street.

Gigantic subs, friendly staff, real Italian accents — this, my friends, is a true deli shop. Don’t be surprised to find authentic imported oils, cheese, and homemade marinara sAWces lining up this deli — you’ve got yourself the real deal. I ordered the chicken Milano, after some advice from the guy behind the counter(Andy’s sons? Who knows) who walked me through what to put on the sub. Ask them what they have bc they’ve def. got more than what the menu offers. Mayo pesto sauce??? How good is that? When I got my sub, it was literally 12 whoppin’ inches long. They generously added a ¼ slice of pickles on the side — which was a nice gesture but sogged up the wrapping paper. The good– sandwich was yummy, ESP with the mayo pesto dressing and the amount of food is enough for two people. There is free parking a door down. The bad– the bread comes soggy if you have tomato in there… What I wish they had was garlic toasted heros or toasted heros. The sandwich was good, but nothing so original that I haven’t had before. I’ve certainly had better back in Long Island, but this place is a good alternative for the Albany peeps. There are no seating available.

«Che La Luna», the old Italian classic by Paolo Citarella, most notably heard sung at the beginning wedding scene in The Godfather, is being played on the music player in back. Prosciutto and Cappicola are hung from the ceiling. The workers all have NYC Italian American accents and make small talk with the customers. Either this is really cliché or it is the real thing my friends. Given that Andy & Sons has been here since 1957, I will go with the latter. The biggest problem I have with Andy & Sons Importing Co is that every time I am in there I want to buy and eat everything. This is not possible; I have tried, and ran out of money — quickly, oh so quickly. Andy & Sons is a classic Italian import and local market and gourmet deli. They have a great selection of quality Italian items that include but are not limited to: homemade pastas, sausages, sauces, soups and salads. Using only the finest cold cuts, predominately the expensive but always quality Boar’s Head, I usually come for the big, hearty hot or cold subs(6.99−8.99) served on delicious sesame seed bread. They are thick, oily, messy, and delicious. Somehow, I come for a sub but leave with some imported olive oil, aged pecorina, dried sopressata, some stuffed peppers, a bottle of puttanesca sauce, and a bowl of Italian Wedding soup. My wallet is very light leaving Andy & Sons. Although I will eat well, there is always some regret when I get home at forking over 9 bucks for some incredible pasta sauce.
