My favorite bus stop in Alamo Heights!
I know that’s not saying much, but this is a really cool bus stop.
It was built in 1929, and has been serving Alamo Heights ever since. When Dionicio Rodriguez completed his masterpiece, it was donated to the city of Alamo Heights by Alamo Cement, who used to be located in the Quarry.
It used to serve trollies, and will hopefully one day serve them again.
The tracks were removed in 1931. Back then, it was called River Street, instead of Broadway.
It really is a great place to take a break from the Texas sun and sit a spell and watch the traffic roll by.

Never in my Unilocaliest of dreams did I ever think I would be writing a review for a bus stop. But here I am doing just that. But then how often are bus stops also works of art? This is so cool and a great thing to show out of town visitors when showing off our beautiful city.

A work of art that is in the National Register of Historic Places that you can drive by any time!
The Alamo Heights Trolley Stop was build by Dionicio Rodríguez and is part of his extensive work in the area, including the Japanese Tea Gardens. This instillation is pretty cool in that you can sit on it, climb on it, get up close and see the detail without all the hubbub of some of the other works.
Spend as much or as little time as you like appreciating it!
