Best place EVER to get Mexican food. Love everything on the menu. The servers are a bit brief and rude, sometimes, however. Or they speak really quickly and have accents and are not at all understanding when you ask them what they said… Overall great food though, has been around since I can remember and hope it stays forever.

I absolutely love this place! Best burritos in town. Staff is so awesome too! Love that they have kids sizes that aren’t just bean burritos. Love their street tacos

I’m a huge Gordo’s fan so that should be the first spoiler :) I love the simple chicken w cheese burrito — its as close to Gordo’s and I can find in Alameda and a fav now for a quick burrito. Have not tried much else on the menu — guac is ok, but hey, whole pinto, boiled chicken and cheese w rice you cannot go wrong for the price — Its cash only so bring some dollares or you will need to pay the $ 2 fee on the ransom ATM that they have in the dining area: D Parking is difficult(so park N on Encinal and walk over or MC it)

Solid spot in Alameda I’ve been going to for a while. Quick and easy with no frills. They don’t do anything out of the ordinary to make it standout from other Taquerias but the food is solid and the prices are on point. I do like they steam the cheese onto the burritos though it’s not always even throughout. They could use some spicier salsa. Staff is always friendly and attentive. If you’re looking for some quick Mexican and don’t want to feed the Chipotle Beast give it a shot.

What a sorry excuse for a taqueria. People in Alameda really seem to have no idea what a real burrito is supposed to taste like. I asked for carne asada, what I received was basically just roasted beef. Carne asada is supposed to be grilled steak, not roasted beef. Furthermore, they don’t toast their tortillas on the grill like a real taqueria, so the tortilla is really soft and lacks the desirable crispiness. There was way too much sour cream, and the beans and guacamole tasted pretty weird. Add to this mix the fact that they are cash only(they have an ATM but you have to pay a $ 1.50 fee), and the result is a very unsatisfying, overpriced 1300 calories.

Solid burrito and fast service. The two biggest issues are cash only and lack of parking.

Great Burritos, and I always get a bag of chips and guacamole. One of the best taquerias in the Bay Area bar none.

If you want an affordable taqueria with great food and friendly, fast service, then look no further. My husband and I used to live near Park St, and this was our go-to place for Mexican food. The burritos are pretty much two meals in one. I loved getting their nachos or tacos. I hope to find a comparable taqueria in my new area. You guys are great!

Alright, alright, alright. This spot is alright. I was expecting legendary and it didn’t quite get there. :Sigh: no homemade tortillas here either. * I’d suggest the enchiladas over the burrito, but even those enchiladas could use some work and help in the flavor department. It wasn’t that they didn’t taste good, they just sided on the less flavorful side of the spectrum. The burrito was large, but again, nothing really stood out. The chicken was that of a rotisserie style, but not seasoned. A healthier option, but gimme some spice, gimme something. I can even echo this sentiment with the guac. Womp womp. Prices were solid — you’re looking at about $ 6-$ 10 for pretty much any menu item minus the tacos which are obviously cheaper. They do have child size burrito priced at $ 5 which is perfect for yes, a child, or for an adult not looking to gorge on a crap load of food. Friendly service and conveniently next to a parking lot making for an easy lunch. * I am on the quest to find the best Mexican food in the Bay Area and for sure it will be due to those soft, buttery homemade tortillas.

This is literally RIGHT behind Calafia on my Alameda taquerias, it’s a near photo finish people. The burritos here are slightly ahead of Calafia’s while their tacos are slightly behind, so it depends on your mood. It’s smaller and parking is a tad bit harder but if you’re coming to Alameda you shouldn’t be expecting to find easy parking anyways. I got the Chile Verde burrito and some extra hot sauce(I like some heat in my life, just look at my nickname folks). I will say this emphatically: YOUMUSTASKFORYOURBURRITOFRIED! This isn’t even an option folks, just get the thing fried, no more questions. Cash only by the way. So be prepared to walk some distance for the nearest ATM, it’s about 2 steps from the register. Yikes.

I do a take out at least once a week and always order a Child’s burrito because they are so big. I know someone posted that they are dry. All you have to do is ask them for more juice from the beans or the meat. Voila, it’s done. The people that work there have been there for years, hardly any turnover so these employees really get to know exactly what their customers order and know many of them by name. They speak English and Spanish. They have been at the same location for over 20 years maybe more, not sure. The meats are carnitas, chicken, steak, chile verde(green chili) and carne asada. There refried beans are the best that I’ve eaten at any Mexican restaurant. The food is so fresh that you can see them even sorting the beans out so everything is cooked from«scratch» I’ll be going back until I die. I am addicted. Maria

Steak Nachos are deeelicious! They make it so simple and you think nothing of it, when you get down on its all goood. I recommend you eat it asap before the chips get soggy, not a problem for me I dig in asap. Beast mode. Yeah I’mma regular and so as everyone that lives in Alameda no doubt.

Every time I get up the courage to try this place(again), I find myself disappointed(again). Burritos are dry, salsas are mediocre, and the overall the ingredients lack seasoning. Seems like one of those«institutions» that gets by based on location convenience and nostalgia. Sorry lifelong Alamedans. I’d rather take myself over Park St bridge to Sinaloa!

This place has made me fat. Straight up. I really need to stop coming here. The super burrito is just too good. Heads up, cash only.

Taqueria Ramiro & Sons is a decent place but it’s $ 8+ for a burrito which was definitely pricier than other places around the area. I was taken aback by how they could charge you extra for black beans… who does that? The shop itself isn’t a very appealing place to sit and eat either so overall my decision is I’m going to Island Taqueria down the street on Park.

Gross. First and last time here. They use non marinated chicken on their nachos. It’s literally boiled chicken chopped up on a bed of chips. No flavor at all. Additionally, they microwave the nachos for the cheese to melt which makes the chips soggy. Won’t be back.

Not happy with their cash-only business practice. Here’s why: Take credit/check cards? NO «Cash-Only» sign posted anywhere to let prospective customers know BEFORE ordering? NO Friendly staff? no I do not appreciate having to pay an ATM fee to eat food. They really REALLY should have a «Cash-Only» sign posted, like at the front door, just to be fair to customers. I do not like their«Sorry, we only take cash.» tactic. It is really tacky. And the parking sucks, too.

This is 1 of the most solid Taqaria in the east bay. This fine family are carrying the torch for long lost Taqaria Morelia /Jessie’s Talk of the Town in east Oakland 1 of the 1st in Oakland in the late 70’s. I grew up on them and ate there multiple times a week. When they closed in the early 90’s it seemed that no other Taqaria measured up them, until I lucked upon Ramos & Son’s a few years ago, every thing was I remembered AWESOME! There Carna Asda is totally kick ass, and they do the lost art of the fried Quesadella, with just cheese & pico de gallo, once you have this no other will seem as good. The green sauce is outstanding and complex, without being overtly hot, not that there is any thing wrong with hot. I love the fact that when I walk in they already know to get my Torta & Quesadella rolling!
