Absolutely the worst divorce attorney you can use if you actually want to get through it. Steve was completely unprofessional in his dealings with me and my attorney and failed to provide any level of guidance to my ex-​wife around what would and would not hold up in court or what needed to be done to move the process along. His method is simply to threaten to go to court — likely to get to court so he could collect more in fees. Only once my ex-​wife got rid of him and got a real attorney, did we actually start making progress — the new attorney’s first order of business was to get a valuation on the real estate which we had been requesting for more than a year. A complete waste of time and money.
Take a look at his linkedIn profile before you hire him as well — he spends more time trying to build businesses around underwater photography, etc. than actually providing quality legal services.

We hired Steven Rosenberg to write our family trust. A family friend of ours referred us to Steven and could not have enough nice things to say. Naturally we were excited to meet him in person, so we called and made an appointment to go for a consultation. I made sure to ask if there was a charge for the consultation, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that a 30 min consult was free. The free consult was a big plus for me. I felt that this said a lot about Steven and his practice. After the consultation, we knew we wanted to use Steven and set a date to start working on the trust.
He was such a professional and knowledgeable person to work with and we were very pleased to have him work on our family trust. His staff was very nice and the office was tidy and neat.

If I can give zero star, Mr. Rosenberg would get zero star!!!
I wanted a divorce in 2005 but the husband does not want to and he told me he won’t sign any paper, so I thought I’d go to a lawyer because they would know what to do. I found Mr. Rosenberg online in 2008 and I contacted him about his service. I had to pay like $ 3000 upfront, which includes the petition filing fee. I was told by the law firm that they will deduct the money each time I receive any service or advice by the lawyer, which I agreed.
To make long story short, the husband did not response to the petition we filed, and he told me he will not sign any paper. Instead of telling me I can file for a default, Mr. Rosenberg kept on telling me the husband MUST sign the paper in order for the case to move forward (remember, you don’t know what you don’t know, and that was the whole reason I paid him for his service). He even billed me 2 hours of work to draft 2 sets of paper so we can each sign a set.
I was laid off in the beginning of 2010, so I can’t afford Mr. Rosenberg’s service anymore. I then did some research online with all my free time and talked to a few friends that filed divorce cases on their own. I learned that I can indeed file for a default if the husband does not response. All I have to do is to file a different set of papers with the court. It took me less than 2 hours to download and filled out all the necessary papers on my own. Now, for someone who does the same thing everyday, does it really take him 2 hours to file 2 sets of paper for me??? Seriously!
Also, when I used to call Mr. Rosenberg about questions I have, I called from my work phone since I didn’t have good cell phone reception at work. Last time I called him while I was unemployed, I called from home and I used my cell phone. My cell phone statement shows I was on that call for 6 minutes. However, he billed me 0.4 hours, which is 24 minutes. He bills at $ 275/​hour. That 6 minutes call was supposed to be $ 27.50. He dares to send me a bill for $ 110.00. Since I had no record of all my previous calls to him, who knows if he has been overbilling me in the past???
At the end, I paid Mr. Rosenberg over $ 3000 to help me file for divorce. But I ended up filing all the paperwork at the Oakland court house all by myself, and was able to finalized my divorce in less than 3 months. What did Mr. Rosenberg do for me? Pretty much nothing that helps me with my case.
If you want an honest lawyer that can really help you, please go somewhere else. I honestly feel that all he cares about are his big millionaire clients. For average people like me, all he wants is every penny he can get from me.

Steve Rosenberg is a exceptional divorce attorney. He helped me through one of the hardest times in my life. The divorce process can be confusing and you really need someone on your side, he is the person.
Mr. Rosenberg is someone who truly cares about you, listens to your problems/​issues and makes sure you are taken care of.
When you’re going through a divorce you need a strong player on your team and Mr. Rosenberg is what you need.

For the money I paid this attorney — $ 1650 — in a matter of 15 days in the month of April of 2008:
~Conference with client to prepare responsive doc and I&E letter to court clerk 1.40hrs
~Review file for court hearing .40
~Appear at court hearing 3.0
~Prepare order after hearing letter to opposing counsel .60
~Review letter from attorney telephone call to opposing counsel telephone call to client .20
~Revise order after hearing letter to opposing counsel .40
Six hours of mostly BS work for $ 1650 and I still got screwed by the end of my court hearing for child custody! How about talking to your client rather than opposing counsel for two plus hours? It would have been helpful to be consulted with during your conversation with the other attorney, rather than just saying «I think it’s in your best interest that you just give into their demands,» yet not be clear in what those demands were. I’m now stuck in Alameda County until written permission to leave from the other party (child’s Father) because of the lack of communication from Rosenberg and the other attorney to me. If I knew beforehand that attorneys work like this I would have said no from the beginning. I would not refer him to anybody!!!
My court case a few months later went much better; and since I represented myself instead of this money sucking piranha (He asked me irrelevant questions to the case yet charged me for that time? wtf??) representing me, I got almost all the things I wanted except for the lift on leaving Alameda Co.
Honestly, I really doubt he did much of anything since I’m good friends with a few paralegals and usually they end up doing a bulk of the paperwork for not nearly as much as what the attorneys get. UNCOOL, very uncool Rosenberg! You’re one of the attorneys that give the trade a bad name and rep! For the few good lawyers I know in LA, I hope you never have him in your firm.
