The cashiers at this store are awful. If they don’t know where something is they just say they don’t have it. On multiple occasions I found it myself. Today I got cash back and the cashier didn’t have enough in her drawer. Her attitude in terms of completing my transaction sucked. She just moved on to the next customer. No sorry. No offer to let me cancel the transaction. Nothing. Grrrr. I had to track someone down myself. Do yourself a favor and drive over the bridge.

This isn’t a supermarket it’s a community center. It’s the best store in the East Bay. It’s small but it has everything. The produce is excellent, the meat first class and there is a lot more. I love the checkers. Phillip, Dorothy, Ruth, and many more. What a great crew! Elvis in the parking lot! You can go to the big Safeway or Nob Hill and be treated like a number, have old ladies hit you with their carts … Or go here and be treated like a friend.

I’d give zero stars if I could. This Safeway is pulling expiration labels off food and repackaging them for sale. Disgusting. Shame on Safeway.

The staff is friendly and the location is convenient if you live on Bay Farm Island. However, on more than one occasion I have found molded meat and cheese in the pre-made sandwiches, rotting fruit in the bagged fruit and brown lettuce in the salad bags. They also do not automatically honor their scan policy. When an item is scanned in with the wrong price, policy says it should be free. You always have to remind them. They need to improve the freshness of their food to earn more stars.
