Rainbow Academy Child Care

My nearly 10 month old son started going to Rainbow Childcare when he was a little more than 3 months old. I was so nervous about him going to daycare that I avoided looking for one for as long as possible, and then the whole process was incredibly stressful, even though we lucked out and found spots for him in a lot of great facilities. We chose Rainbow Childcare above all the rest for a lot of different reasons. First of all, in all the interviews I went on (and I went on a lot!) Suzhen was the only caretaker who actually asked to hold my son! That’s hard to believe even now when I write it, but it’s true. I also really liked that my son would not be put on a sleeping schedule at only 3 months. While I’m sure it would be great for that to happen down the road, I was not comfortable with the idea that my son should «fall in line» at such a young age, and this is the impression I got from a lot of the other places I visited. My husband and I also loved how clean and happy Suzhen’s home is — it is set up like a preschool, and we really liked that. They celebrate Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick’s Day, made Mother’s Day crafts, and even had a theme week where all the kids dressed up according to the schedule. The toys and playthings are all clean and tidy, and the children were all happy when we arrived. For many of the appointments at other daycares, we had to schedule a specific time to come, but Suzhen let us know that we could stop by whenever we wanted. I really liked this, because it was clear that she was confident things would be going well whenever we arrived. My husband is a professor and I am a nurse, so our hours are all over the place and different on different days. Sometimes we need to drop my son off at 7 am and can pick him up at 2, and sometimes we don’t drop him off until 9:30, or can’t pick him up until 6:00. Suzhen is incredibly accommodating and that has been an enormous help. She has three lovely daughters who know all the kids there and are very sweet and helpful. Every day we get a paper that tells us everything our son did that day, diapers and food are provided (and breast milk very well cared for if you are still breast-​feeding!), and they play outside every time the weather allows for it. But easily the very very best part is just how happy my son is! He gets so excited when he sees Suzhen at the start of every day, and he’s always in a great mood and filled with energy when we pick him up. In fact, I think on the weekends he actually misses going! It’s clear that all the children there are happy — I actually get excited about picking him up and dropping him off because it means I get to chat with all the other kids who are always excited to tell me about their day :). I think I would have gone crazy putting my son in childcare if it wasn’t such a perfect situation — my husband I feel so, so, so lucky to have found Suzhen and Rainbow Childcare. I can’t say enough good things about it: we lucked out.
