O’Reilly Auto Parts

Very helpful guy at the cashier Tuesday night. Good customer service. Was just coming here to replace my brake lights and guy knew where it was.
Only down side was he grabbed an already opened package for me to purchase. I went back to get a new one so I knew it would not give me any problems. Was not pushy as previous customer has stated. Been here before and service was average but today wanted to report the positive trend in service as in succeeding Unilocal review.

I was going to give this place three stars but I just had a great experience. I went in to grab some oil for my Colony Park and my Volvo after work.
I’ve experienced hit or miss service here in the past, but tonight John was on duty. He seemed like he might be new, but he was super helpful when I asked a couple questions. He was happy and provided great service.
Further, when I asked about what to do about some old brake rotors he mentioned that he was going to start the process to learn how to turn the rotors. That’s a service nearly impossible to find these days in most auto parts stores, but it used to be the norm.
Young guys like John, taking an interest in going above and beyond and actually learning something about what customers want is rare these days. I hope John keeps it up and the store encourages him.

If I don’t want to buy the already opened boxed product, I don’t have too. And… You just opening the box and telling me the probably already used battery charger works just fine, by just looking at it, you’re an ass!
I was buying a gift for someone sorry I didn’t want to present them with an opened, already used, battery charger. I would’ve purchased it off of craigslist if that was the case. You condescending asshole!

I work at KQED in the membership department and there is nothing that makes me happier than EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. And that is exactly what I got at O’Reilly’s on Sunday.
I have a 2001 Honda and my right headlight went out. I JUST replaced this a year ago, so I must have touched the bulb or SOMETHING… anyway, I had a heck of time last time getting it in since it is behind the battery.
So I have been putting this off, but Sunday I went to O’Reilly’s in Alameda on Central to get a bulb. The minute I walked in the door I was greeted by John in a very friendly, helpful manner. He asked me with a smile if he could help me. I told him what I needed… he looked it up, found that he didn’t have the one i wanted out on the floor so he went back in the back to get it. He showed me my 4 different options (The cheapest, the pretty blue halogen, the yellow one and the factory standard. He suggested the factory standard) I took the factory standard.
it was only $ 13.
THEN, to my shock. he said — «would you like me to put this in for you?»
I stood there with my best stupid look on my face…
«Really, it won’t take me but a minute»
Again — stupid face… «um, yea, that would be awesome!»
«Okay if I clear the line first? I want to get these customers taken care of…»
«oh absolutely!»
I just want the manager and other Alamedans to know that John and O’reilly’s are absolutely Fabulous!

I had wonderful experience. Henry and his staff real pro’s.

Had another no-​nonsense, good experience here again tonight. Called ahead to see if they had a part since a competitor, AutoZone, would have to order the part and I was far from home there. O’Reilly had it, and one at that, so I sped over without delay. Arrived and got the air filter stuffed into the proper compartment under my hood. Done, and quickly. How do the service departments at car dealerships feel about part stores imparting such important how-​to advice? NOICE!

Henry, you’re a horrible store manager. I have no idea how you can just talk down at customers all the damn time. You are also very rude to adolescents. Never going back here. If anyone sees an old bald guy with the name tag HENRY, shy away from the item you’re looking for and go to the other oreilly on the east end.

Great store! Professionally run. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Excellent inventory. Fair prices. It will be my first stop for my automotive needs from now on.

I went into their store last evening, and was so very impressed. I had to wait in line for another person to complete his transaction. He was being helped by Jhonnatan. I was so impressed with the way Jhonnatan handled the customer. He then helped me find a bulb for one of my rear turning signals. I asked him, because I am old and know nothing about cards) if he could please help me… He very graciously did help me change the light bulb… this is just the kind of service I seek out… very helpful, very friendly and a nice young man, to boot!

The two times I went in I received the most friendly and comprehensive service I could want. Today I was helped by Henry. I bought a battery for my Toyota and with a perfectly courteous and gentlemanly attitude he efficiently went out to my car, took out my old corroded one and installed the new one. He saw I was interested and explained the steps as he did them and the extra precautions he took to prevent battery acid build up. Henry made my day.

WORST shop EVER. Bought a new battery that got depleted because our alternator was bad. Took new battery in for charging, they said it was bad and offered to sell me another. Seemed fishy. Went to NAPA on park st. who charged it completely in a few hours no pproblem. These guys are NOT to be TRUSTED!
Also, bought a battery power pack for remote jumping as I have many vehicles, lasted 8 months before frying. LAME. Cheap-​ass Chinese crap is all they sell.

The store is clean, and some level of stocked items keep customers coming back and back again..

I never write any comment on Unilocal,but this time i really want to.
My car battery was just bad and just wanted to exchange.
When I called there, they said they can help me to replace the battery with the labor.
So, I went there in 10 mins. However,
The manager was talking to me very rude way. I haven’t talk to anybody more rude than this guy in my life. He asked me to take that battery out and bring it in front of him. He talked to me like a shit. I am a 20 years old woman, and I really needed help for the replacing the battery. There were two guys working, and all of them have back pain including the manager. The manager in this store has very unprofessional manner. I cannot believe that the Unilocal has better rating than what they really deserve.

It never crossed my mind to review an auto parts store but we had such a great experience here that it only seems appropriate.
Went here to pick up a cabin filter for my car. The staff was so friendly that we began talking to one of the staff members about Hawaii for like 5 – 10 minutes. When we went to look for the filter for my car, one of the employees came up to us and asked us what we were looking for and found the model number for us in the computer. He then came back to tell us where it should be. When they were out of that one, he went to look for a different model that would work.
I would definitely go back to this store just because the employees are so nice and helpful!

Went here this morning to get a steering wheel lock for my car. The store looked neat and organized and the latina-​looking girl behind the counter asked me at once if she could help me with something. They had the same exact product that I saw on their website when I checked last night and a couple other similar products to compare it with. So I went to the counter with two steering wheel locks on hand, a pricey one and a cheaper one, and was caught in a little bit of a dilemma. The latina girl who had helped me earlier was helping another customer at the other end of the counter, so another lady who also works there helped me instead. I forgot to ask for her name but she was very nice. I hate to describe people but she was a little bit dark-​skinned. She helped me decide which steering wheel lock to get and gave me some advice too on how I could save on car insurance by informing them of my newly-​purchased steering wheel lock. After the transaction, she even opened the package for me so I could try it on my car and return it at once if I didn’t like it. (She was really very nice. I really shoulda asked for her name!) Good thing, the product worked perfectly well and I didn’t have to return it. Going here this morning was a great experience for me, and they have a great parking area too!

On August 22, 2012 I called the Central Ave location and spoke to Ray about a Chilton Manual for my 2004 Nissan Maxima. Ray asked me which engine size to which I replied 3.5 liter. He put me on hold and came back to say he had the repair manual I needed. I walked to the store and Julie told me I just missed Ray but she would look up the manual. She couldn’t find it and asked me what I wanted to do. I called Matt the regional manager but he never called me back. My impression is incompetence on Ray’s part, stress on Julie’s part and doesn’t give a crap on Matt’s part. Better ask twice about what parts they have that you need cuz your fighting an uphill battle there.

My car recently started leaking oil and I haven’t had a chance to get it to the mechanic… which means until then I need to keep adding oil (sorry environment). I know nothing about cars so when I went into O’Reilly Auto Parts I just stared blankly at the multitudes of oil on the shelves. When I’ve been in auto supply stores in the past, employees seem very put out to have to answer my very basic questions and make me feel like a moron for asking. Apparently they must feel that only professionals should shop there. However Isaac, the manager, saw the perplexed look on my face and offered me a lesson on oil. He was very patient, helpful and encouraging of me to learn more about my car. Thanks Isaac!!!

Came in here early one morning to replace a broken headlight. Maria was the only person working but did an excellent job of multitasking — rang up sales for one customer while helping me look for my light (it wasn’t on the racks, wasn’t in the bins…) even called another store to see if they had it in stock (while helping another customer)…all with a very pleasant and unfrazzled manner. Even though I didn’t get my headlight I was impressed.
