Established in 2010.

In 2010, attorney George Derieg became a father. and while on paternity leave as a deputy public defender, Mr. Derieg walked into his boss’s office with his two week old daughter and gave his notice. Mr. Derieg did not want to be too far from his children, so he decided to quit criminal defense and start his own trusts and estates practice. After months and months of training, and seminars, and hands on experience from other attorneys, Mr. Derieg opened up his practice and has been off and running since.

The Law Office of George Derieg completes on average 2 – 3 estate plans per week, and opens up roughly 2 probate cases per month for the past 4 years. By his last count, mr. Derieg has created over 300 estate plans, and has handled a multitude of trust administrations.

Having a complete estate plan is essential, and Mr. Derieg knows how important family is. In the past 4 years he and his wife have had 4 children.

George Derieg was born and raised in the east bay. He grew up in San Lorenzo, Ca. Mr. Derieg met his wife in high school, and they started dating in 1996 and married in 2004, while they were both in grad school.

After law school, George Derieg took and passed the California bar exam and was immediately hired as a public defender. Mr. Derieg worked as a public defender until his first child was born and he decided there was more to life then commuting to a distant job, only to see your family a fraction of the time. So, Mr. Derieg quit his job, to start a practice in his home of residence, Alameda, Ca.

Mr. Derieg and his wife, Dr. Bonnie Merritt, have lived in Alameda since they got married and will hopefully never leave. Over the past 4 years, his wife Bonnie has had 3 children, with the hopes of having one more.
