Fong & Fong A Professional Corp

In 2015, the board members of my condo association hired this man to update our CC&Rs for the first time. The old bylaws were from the the early 1990’s and totally out of date.
The majority (57%) of owners signed a petition in advance of the CC&R re-​write to approve making our building 100% non-​smoking. This is entirely legal, as we learned that smoking is not a constitutional right, given the many Bay Area cities that have recently made all multi-​unit housing 100% smoke-free…something they would not do if it were unconstitutional. Marc Fong even advised the petition organizers that 51% of the owners was the minimum number needed to take this forward. A small number of us here worked hard to obtain the signatures from residents, many of whom rent their units and thus required a lot more effort to contact.
As the organizers of the petition, we specifically requested that there be no «grandfathering» in of the smokers, who number less than 10−15% of the residents. Marc Fong (we were informed in an email from one of the board members) later advised the board members – who have proven to be despicable neighbors – to include grandfathering for existing smokers – as long as their 2^nd hand smoke does not escape their units. Marc Fong’s rationale: fairness to the smokers because they «should not be forced to either quit smoking or to move out.» The end result: an overly-​political packet of 20-​plus years of overdue revisions covering over a dozen matters totally unrelated to us going smoke-​free. The owners have to now «vote» on this entire slate of issues in an all-​or-​nothing fashion.
This is very unsettling considering that Fong considers real property law as his area of expertise, on this 50^th anniversary of the Surgeon General’s Report on the dangers of smoking. He has proven that he is totally out of touch with current condominium law.

Fong and Fong has done a lot of work for me and for our family Tenancy in Common and LLC. The work is efficient, detailed, accurate, and timely. Ric Fong Jr. went above and beyond to provide customized service for us, both in the office and outside the office. I brought my curmudgeonly family to this firm and they very much approved of the work that Fong and Fong has done for us. We have worked with several firms, and we are quite happy with Fong and Fong.
I don’t know what the one-​star reviewer is talking about. It sounds like a personal problem. Why would a law firm give you the wrong address? Start with that, and the reviewer’s credibility goes straight downhill.

Keep away from this firm! It was a nightmare for me to deal with this firm! I would give them 10 negative stars if I could. They give me wrong and conflicting information through the phone and they have very very bad customer service! I think what they only care about is money and they don’t care about you at all! After I called them many times, they still unable to find a person who can make a simple decision!
For your own sake, save your time and find some real good firms.
They even give you wrong address!
