Established in 1984.

Detect All Security & Fire is a family owned and operated company that was founded in 1984. We bring the highest caliber security and fire alarm systems, monitoring and video surveillance services to the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and Oregon.

As members of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Electronic Security Administration (ESA), we stay current on the latest technologies and regulations affecting our industries. We are also active members in our community working with the local Chambers of Commerce, business improvement districts, and community groups to improve the safety and well-​being of the areas we live and work in. Since writing my review, Detect all has gone above and beyond to make things right. It’s not often you see companies take responsibility of offering great customer service and who take it to heart when, you, as a customer feel you didn’t get what was sold to you.
This team went out of their way to make sure moving forward we don’t have these issues.

I was hopeful things would go smoothly. Initial meeting with Rick was great, knowledgable and responsive.
However, once the install was confirmed, it was clear no-​one over there communicates with each other. the guy arrived and had no clue what he was supposed to be doing (i’m no expert so how am i supposed to tell him).
Completed the job finally — but needed to retest some stuff that didn’t work. I emailed them the info they requested, i texted, emailed to find out when they would finish the tests etc. It is now 2 weeks later after speaking with Rick and i have ZERO communication from anyone there that the job was completed and everything tested correctly.
Beware — initial contact can be deceiving. The last vendor we had i thought was bad, but now i’m second guessing this one too based on their SEVERE lack of responsiveness.

Our condo had an alarm system put in by Bay Alarm a few years ago and we had it deactivated, so it wasn’t supposed to make any noise. One day, it started beeping every time we opened a door. We called Bay Alarm to ask what was going on since we were no longer paying for the alarm system and it had been deactivated. They said they couldn’t help us as we were no longer customers! We found Rick through Unilocal and over the phone, he walked us through how to deactivate the alarm. He helped us out of the kindness of his heart and was extremely patient explaining everything to us. Talk about customer service (for someone who wasn’t even his customer). Thank you Rick! We really appreciate all that you did to help us!

Radu set up our security cameras on our Mac Router and came and helped us when we were unable to see them on our iPhones. His expertise saves our days as we can continue to monitor our home while away on vacation. Rick is friendly and offers neutral professional suggestions on new technology. Recently some a’holes broke my friends garage and then tried to get in the house while she and her daughter lay sleeping in bed. This was a great reminder of why I’m so grateful to have my home secured by Detect All. Detect All hooked me up with all the latest modern security features, and they’re super cool. Be careful, my video system is watching everybody that comes near my home, and I’m watching you live on my phone :-). I understand many companies can provide many of these modern security features, but the customer service I received from Detect All exceeded my expectations. I’m thankful to have a well experienced, service focused team of professionals securing my home and I’d recommend Detect All to anybody looking for a little more peace of mind.

I was looking to update my intercom system when I ran across Detect All through Unilocal.Radu, the technician came to give me an estimate. I was very impressed with his knowledge of my old system & the new updated system that was comparable. He was very professional & when I wanted to move where the old system was, he did so. willingly. Radu & his assistant Steve came to install the new system on time, finished within the scheduled time, cleaned up after the job, then proceeded to show me how to work the new system. Now, today, the day after, its as if the new system has been here always. I am very pleased.

I am a new customer of Detect All Security. I have 2 of my business and my home alarm with them. From the beginning my experience was stellar. Rick came and did a thorough inspection, making good recommendations. Then Radu came and installed all three systems. Excellent customer relations has been my experience so far. If I’ve had any questions or problems I can call Rick or Radu and they get back to me within mins. Radu has an extremely honorable work ethic and I have felt taken care of. My best experience in 15 years with different alarm companies. I also appreciate that they are local. All in all a true 5 star rating !

FYI — Detectall is also really good at HD Video/​Security cameras (it is so cool to see my cameras on my smart phone.)

I signed up with Detect All 19 years ago when I bought my house. I have never had a break-​in. I feel the system they set up has served me well and it covered the basics without costing a fortune. I know my Neighborhood Watch is also a key preventative for crime.
When I came home from the Berkeley Farmer/​s Market with a friend and found my front door open, the fire department at and in my house and my neighbors gathered around, I discovered that Detect All had saved my house from burning down. I had left a pot on the stove and the beans in it burned intotiny charcoal briquets. The walls by the stove would have gone up in flames next except for Detect All’s call when the smoke alarm went off.
With today’s more sophisticated criminals, I turn to Detect All for my security updates.

I have been working with Detect All for almost ten years now. They have done security systems in two of my homes as well as an advanced security system in my auto body shop. We are in the process of moving into a new shop and when I reached out to Detect All to help I had no idea how much I would need their help!
My new shop is a state of the art high end auto body shop, Selecta Auto Body. I needed a bullet proof security system and Detect All was able to handle that with no problem. On top of that I needed a company to handle my Fire Monitoring System from design to installation as well as dealing with the wonderful city planning department and fire inspectors. Detect All handled everything! They were able to meet my schedule, deal with the city which is an absolute nightmare, and get everything running so I can worry about my business.
I would have been lost without Rick and the guys!

DetectAll Security took over my alarm system over 20 years ago when Kask/​Honeywell went out of business. Over the years I’ve had them update my security system to include added zones, updated pads, monitored heat and smoke detectors, motion detectors, glass breakage and wireless devices.
With the increase of home invasions in Oakland, I recently had them review/​improve all of my security systems and install a camera system. This company is actually headquartered in Oakland and owned/​managed by the same family for many years. I have come to know the owner, Rick Quintero, and many of the employees well over the years and they have been responsive as well as respectful of me, my feelings of safety, my budget and my home (their installations are very neat). They will also spend quality time educating you on your systems and, as in the case of my camera system, return multiple times until it was perfectly adjusted and me educated!
You can rely on them for quality products and installation, monitoring, maintenance and response time as well as know you are choosing a company with long-​time employees who can be trusted.
