Daimon Construction

Daimon has done several small jobs in our commercial office building. He has shown up and finished each job well. I have not worked with another contractor who has been more reliable.

Absolutely solid 5 star recommendation.
Daimon was recommended by the designer I was working with to do my kitchen remodel. We had done another fairly large-​scale remodel in another city and had a pretty negative experience, so we really were nervous about selecting a contractor. I knew I was going to hire Daimon as soon as I met him. Sometimes you can just tell that a person is going to be honest and straightforward with you, and I felt very comfortable with him. Not so with some of the other people we talked to.
We took a strange 1970s or 1980s homeowner remodel kitchen down to the studs and baseboards and turned it into a kitchen worthy of a magazine spread. I don’t say that to toot my horn– Daimon and his crew built this, down to every meticulous detail (and man, it doesn’t get more meticulous than Daimon’s foreman), with the guiding vision of an equally brilliant and easy-​natured interior designer (Ingrid Ballmann, whom I will be giving a 5-​star review as well).
To sum up the things I was most impressed by: Daimon is an excellent communicator. When issues came up, because there are always issues in 100 year old houses, Daimon called and talked to me and provided all the options that made sense. I knew I could count on him to give me the score and I never felt like I was being led by the nose. Daimon’s crew was here when they said they were going to be here, and given the circumstances, he kept his work on time. The job went over, but not by an unreasonable amount of time. Again, there were delays that had nothing to do with his crew but affected their ability to work, and he handled all those changes very professionally. Unlike our previous experience, Daimon was also here just about every day checking on things, making suggestions, supporting his crew, and checking in with me when needed. The work was directed and focused. Finally (and obviously, hence the 5 stars), the details were covered. His crew held themselves and all the subcontractors to the highest expectations and made them come back and get it right when things were off.
The end result is gorgeous, and I’m so glad we did this project together.

I know it sounds like I’m gushing, but I’m just so enthusiastic about this man’s work ethic and professionalism.
Not just your run-​of-​the-​mill general contractor, Daimon is also an artist (his wife is a talented artiste too). So he brings a unique creativity and ability to «dream up» a remodel that you’ll be hard-​pressed to find.
He is one of the most RELIABLE, RESPECTFUL, FUN and SMART people I’ve come across as both a homeowner and a realtor. I feel so fortunate to have him in our corner and will rely on his expertise as long as he’s in business.
He works in San Francisco and the east bay and knows building codes, makes drawings for smaller jobs, and has a well-​versed and trusting crew.
I know of plenty of other people not on Unilocal (non-​social media peeps) who rave about Daimon as well. Good luck!

Daimon and his crew do great work. They show up on time, he comes in on deadline and he always answers his phone. So refreshing. He did a few projects for my husband and I when we bought our apartment. We didn’t have a lot of money to spend — so I was worried about getting in over my head with a contractor. No need to worry.
I also found Daimon really easy to work and communicate with. Daimon wasn’t the first contractor I interviewed. But he was so respectful and considerate I had to go with him and his team. I’m glad I did. I watch a lot of HGTV — so of course I’m constantly daydreaming about renovations — someday. I plan on hiring Daimon Construction again.

Hhmm… Daimon Marchand… where should I even begin?
Well, first and foremost, I have to say what an honest man this guy is — and honesty is one of the most, if not THE most, important quality I look for when hiring a contractor. I’ve read/​heard about what a pain it is to find a good contractor, be it for the quality of work or budget issue i.e. final cost being WAY over what was initially estimated. But you can put your mind at ease with Daimon.
From the very first time he came in to give me an estimate, I could tell that he was very passionate about his job. He has great ideas about what to do with the place to make it that much more functional. Throughout the entire project, he also demonstrated great problem solving skills. He’s always on top of things, keeps me constantly updated, and oh, his attention to details is marvelous! He doesn’t miss out on the teeniest little things. His helpers — Juan & Tomas — are great quality workers too!
My overall experience with Daimon has been really positive. I like how he guarantees the quality of his craftsmanship! I am welcome to contact him in the future if anything that he worked on became less than satisfactory. But looking at my newly renovated place — I don’t think there’s anything I need to worry about!

We hired Daimon of Daimon Construction to do our granite Kitchen counters and he did such a great job that we hired him the next week to remodel our master bathroom.
We actually found Daimon on Unilocal as we dont know very many people in the Bay Area to give us referals (moved here from Chicago not long ago).
His prices are very competitive and the quality to superb. Our jobs we not easy ones and Daimon (& Thomas) successfully completed them on-​time & on-​budget.

Daimon to the Rescue!
Before I go further, I must say that I know Daimon personally. This personal relationship could be construed as conflict of interest. I consider it a stroke of extreme good fortune that I was able to call on a friend when I was desperate for help, but I will be scrupulously honest in all details of this review. Daimon does not know I am doing this review; has never talked to me about doing a review; nor has he asked me to be a reference. I definitely do not expect any kind of compensation or special deals because of it…
So, about that rescue… Last month hubby and I decided to refinance our mortgage, without a clue of what was about to happen. Thus my slightly panicked call to Daimon — «An appraiser is coming to my house in less than 48 hours and we cannot have any unfinished projects in our house!»
The details are irrelevant, and I went though way more than necessary in the original version of this review. (Takes me a while to pare things down. Still can’t really do it) Suffice it to say, that Daimon did me a personal favor and did an emergency fix on a quirky little thing in my 120 year old Victorian.
He squeezed us in by dropping by promptly at 7:30 in the morning, before heading off to his previously scheduled job. The «Two seconds!» job was, of course, more complicated than expected, but Daimon worked efficiently and creatively, helping us meet an outrageous deadline a whole day in advance. So, I say with all confidence, whether it is a small job like mine, or a bigger job as you will read about in other reviews, Daimon Marchand earns every single one of his 5 stars.
November Update: Needed some more work done, this time on our rental apartment… Once again, Daimon accommodated a tight timeline. He sent one of his crew to do the work. Tomas was efficient, professional, friendly, CLEAN! Daimon stood behind his work 100%. He followed up on all my questions and made sure that I was satisfied with everything… once again, Daimon *and* his crew earn all five stars!

Daimon Construction, and it’s owner, Daimon Marchand, is absolutely a gem. Though we met with about 3 other contractors, we chose Daimon because he seemed the most honest and capable.
The end result of Daimon’s work was amazing. Daimon and his assistant, Tomas, were always on time, worked efficiently, and most of all, did a fabulous job. Daimon is a true perfectionist and does not skimp a single detail, a trait valued by two persnickety people like my fiancé and me.
I would highly recommend Daimon for any general contract work. He will be our go-​to guy for any new needs that will arise in our future.
