I had a gift certificate from my husband and decided to get a prenatal massage today. I had Mary — she was awesome! She wasn’t afraid to apply firm pressure on a me at 36 weeks. She worked on my problematic areas and consistently checked in with me to make sure everything was ok. She really listened and addressed everything I talked about. Hoping to see her one more time before I deliver. Highly recommend her. Thanks, Mary!

So I found a groupon with an hour massage and an hour facial for 80 dollars and thought why not? The location is not near anything, but oh man do they deck this place out in tranquility. There are massage chairs in the waiting room with tea and water. My massage therapist was Michael and my esthetician was Kate. Both were incredible and I highly recommend this place! Who knew groupon would lead me to such a hidden gem in alameda?! I will for sure be continuing business here

To start off Teliah is awesome!
It was my first professional massage and I will be coming back! Teliah is very nice and considerate of your needs. She provided me with tips after to help me relieve some of my stress and loosen up my muscles. She’s also very knowledgeable and passionate into what she does. She’s also very funny and knows how get your mind off of the pressure (breathe through it). I would definitely recommend her to someone else!
The outside isn’t what you’d think it would be. Their office is located in the office spaces near the Oakland airport, and theres not really any signs directing you where to go or what part of the building it is in until you get in and look at a map. But I can get passed that for the great service I received.

Had a facial with Monique today!!! One word. AMAZZZZZINNNGGG!!! Will definitely return. Went back to work (down the street) to spread the word… If I could give 10 stars I would

Tracy is *MAGIC*!!! So much so I’m tempted to delete this review because she’s already so busy– I don’t want other people to be privy to her skill! If her talent (and awesome personality!) weren’t enough of an attraction to frequent this place, the front desk gal is incredibly nice & accommodating, and the atmosphere has the gentle ambiance of a fancy day-​spa. I even had the pleasure of working with the owner when I booked my appointment. (Unbeknownst to me at the time). He was patient and oh-​so accommodating. Really refreshing considering I was a groupon client at first!
I’ll be back FOR SURE and you should give it a try too!

Jonathan was amazing. I booked a deep tissue massage and he was able to accommodate my specific bodywork needs. He was wonderful.

This review is for Mike-​H. I absolutely loved her and thoroughly enjoyed my massage. She provided me with my second prenatal massage, and it completely blew the first one I had (with another therapist elsewhere) out of the water.
Mike-​H knows massage, and she has a great personality. I like a firm touch, and told her as much, as well as
areas I wanted her to focus on, and she was very attentive to that. She has strong and skilled hands, and is really just amazing at what she does — and I am very picky about my massages.
If you like a lackluster massage, Mike-​H is not your gal. If you like a great, relaxing, skilled one, she’s the one for you.
I plan on continuing to see her throughout my pregnancy and afterwards. She’s completely won me over.

I had an appointment today for a couples massage. I was searching Unilocal for a place that accommodated couples (aka had at least two masseurs on hand). I had Micheal A and he had Lerissa. We both had amazing experiences, they were courteous and professional, listened when we talked about our «problem areas», weren’t overly chatty and were sure to check that they were applying the correct amount of pressure. Neither of us got that «too oily» experience where we felt we had to shower immediately (although I noted there are showers in the building). Both of our jobs put enormous pressure on our bodies and we were achey when we arrived but left feeling light as feathers. I’m writing this now because my boyfriend is sleeping he was that relaxed. Michael even realigned my spine and showed me stretches I could do to help with the tension I had in my shoulders.
I agree it was tricky to find at first, it’s in a business park and our appointment was on a Sunday evening when there were not any other cars in the lot but Waze GPS app led us right to it and it was fine. We will definitely be back.

Ezra, Ezra, Ezra is all I can say to start! He is amazing and his technique is so great! My regular therapist was not available so I was reluctant to try someone knew but I did not know I would end up with Ezra and his amazing hands! I love deep tissue and I informed him of my issues and he went to work.
I get massages at LEAST once a week and he rates as one of the top3 masseurs I’ve experienced. He is excellent! Thank you very much!

I’ve been looking for a place to get a good massage in Alameda for a while now (because I don’t want to go too far, it’s supposed to be relaxing and I don’t want to drive a long way home after) and I haven’t been able to make a decision. Because some places have conflicting reviews and that makes me even more uncertain. But I saw that Body Techniques had a deal on Groupon and since they have great reviews I thought, why not?
I ended up buying one for myself, one for a friend, and one for my mom. Booking was super easy and I’m not sure who it was that helped me over the phone, probably Violet because she answered my emails later, but she was very nice. She was able to get all three of us in on the same day at the same time. She wasn’t pushy or rude at all. I read a review about them being rude to Groupon and discount holders, which made me a little nervous, because if they’re going to have deals they should honor them. BUT the booking was very pleasant! She took my info and voucher number and it was all settled. I had to email her after booking to specify the type of massage we would like to receive just to get it out of the way and she was very accommodating.
We arrived about 10 minutes before our scheduled appointment. Mostly because it was a bit difficult to find the place. It’s in a huge building; near the parking lot entrance there’s a little sign that says «Body Techniques» and I missed it, so I had to go up and make a U-​turn.
Checking in was easy enough, we filled out a first time client information sheet and waited for our massage therapist. There’s tea and massage chairs in the waiting room. Bathroom is out in the hall. A few minutes after our appointment time, our therapists arrived and took us through a door, into a hallway with rooms on both sides. The place was surprisingly spacious, you wouldn’t have known from looking at the lobby area.
My massage therapist was Jonathan, we went into a small dimly lit room… sounds sketchy, but really, it was a very calm environment with generic soothing music playing. It was nice and clean, and organized. Yes, I had to undress as it was a Swedish massage. I would have liked somewhere to hang my clothes, maybe there were hooks on the wall or something but I didn’t see them so I used the chair.
We spoke briefly about my needs/​problem areas but clearly, I was just there to relax and enjoy myself. The massage was good, but also a bit painful. Lots of pulling, stretching, and rubbing…(and I was going to go for the deep tissue massage. Ha! Probably would hurt less if I wasn’t so bony). One hour is definitely a short period of time when you’re relaxing. I didn’t fall asleep because of the occasional pain, especially when he bent my legs… which is expected, because I haven’t stretched or worked out in a long time. But overall it was a good massage and a good kind of pain. I definitely feel more relax and the tension in my back and neck definitely improved. I would have also liked a head massage, but I guess that’s not a part of the Swedish massage?
Next time, I would probably book a longer time for the massage. Overall it’s a nice place, and I would definitely come back. One of the important aspects in making this decision is the cleanliness of this place. Also, very nice people.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Just a little confusing how to get there if you’re not familiar with the area. I got the 90 minute massage and my masseuse was pretty good; only gripe was that she spent like the last ½ hour massaging only my temples. Dont know if it was laziness or if she thought I was asleep (which I kind of was lol). Either way, I hoped for a little more variation. All in all, good spot.

I purchased a Travelzoo voucher for a facial at Body Techniques so drove all the way from the North Bay to this gem in Alameda, tucked away in an office building. The waiting room was relaxing, with green tea and a small fountain. The massage chairs helped me chill (using the «rolling» setting) before my treatment.
Kate, the esthetician (also a massage therapist), was friendly and experienced. I’d noticed how BT’s massages recently won «best of Alameda,» and the mini-​massage included in my facial made me wish I’d booked a massage for my husband with Kate. This was the best facial I’ve had, and the tight muscles of my neck, shoulders and arms melted thanks to her intuitive and expert touch. Highly recommend.

I finally made it in for a facial with Monique. In addition to manual techniques, she used a number of instruments as part of my treatment, some of which I’ve experienced before (ultrasonic treatment), and some that were new to me (oxygen dome, ultrasonic peel, etc.). As far as results are concerned, this may be one of the best facials I’ve ever received. Fine lines on my face and neck were visibly super smoothed, and my skin came out super hydrated. I was very pleased with the results and will definitely be back. :)

I am recovering from surgery and needed a lot of help. My body was taking way too long in the healing processes. I had seen Body Techniques in the past to help with bulging disks in my neck and didn’t hesitate to call them again.
I was set up with Lauren and SHE WAS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING! In a one-​hour period she helped the body blow off a great deal of pain and shock from the surgery and really got the body moving quickly forward in the healing process. After a good night’s sleep, I awoke the next morning to the feeling of a complete change for the better. IT WAS LIKE NIGHT AND DAY. Before I felt like I would never be well again, the next morning life and living were mine to command again.
Lauren was AWESOME! I can’t say enough glowing things about her.

I woke up with a crick in my neck, so hopped on Groupon to see if I could find a massage deal. Luckily, one popped up for Body Techniques, which included a facial (score!). I found the BT online system very easy to use, and scheduled my appointment for both the massage and facial back to back. I had to cancel/​reschedule and did so quite easily by phone (I’d add a sixth star just for having responsive and professional front office staff!).
4 weeks later when I had time in my schedule again, I finally got my one hour massage with Liz. She really was AWESOME. My old massage therapist had to retire due to arthritis, and I’ve been on a mission to find someone new that met my standards. I have a «friend» (knot) in my shoulder that’s been there for decades. Liz’s «search and destroy» method of finding the knots and working them out was seriously the most anyone therapist has ever dedicated to helping me with «friend.» Liz spent time on the spots where I needed them most, and the tingling in my toes and cleared up sinuses were just some of the immediate results. I was a little sort the day after (in a good way), and the second day after I felt 10x looser and flexible in my shoulders and neck. I’m definitely a fan, and will be going back to Liz as soon as I can!
After my one hour massage, I had a facial scheduled with Kate who called in sick, so Monique filled in for her. Monique was so attentive — really listening to my skin concerns. She was very thorough, but kept the facial comfortable and relaxing at the same time. My skin looked refreshed and clearer. Two days later my normally un-​observant husband actually commented on how great my skin looked =) I give Body Techniques an absolute 5 stars, and can’t wait for my next visit!

Here’s a story about a Groupon that worked. I’m notoriously bad about buying those and never redeeming them. Not this time! (And this might also be the only Groupon I’ve ever remembered to use).
This place is located roughly a block away from my office. A colleague found the massage Groupon deal and emailed just about everyone she could fathom about it. I think about a dozen of us bought it. Then, after a record quarter, our VP got us gift certificates for there. And then I’ve actually paid full price a few times too.
Folks, a macramé hanging plant holder has fewer knots than my shoulders. I’ve been known to ask the massage therapists for a solid hour of shoulders. They don’t disappoint. If you need a real deep tissue massage, they know what they’re doing. I’ve had three different therapists and they’ve all been a little different, but still very effective. Teliah, Mary, and Kate have all taken good care of me.
They also have membership rates, night and weekend hours, and a birthday discount. Membership includes a free yoga class a month.
I’ve not done their acupuncture yet, but it’s on the list.
They’re a bit hidden off Harbor Bay, so look for Raiders HQ and turn there.

I bought a $ 39 Groupon for a 1 hour massage at Body Techniques and it was THE BEST MASSAGE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I love massages and can be really picky but I am already planning my next massage with Body Techniques because Lauren P has fantastic, magical, amazing hands.
BOOKING: Getting a booking was incredibly stress-​free — I called a week before my Groupon was due to expire and immediately scheduled a Saturday morning deep tissue massage. The receptionist was really helpful which is awesome because trying to get a booking through Groupon can be a huge pain.
FACILITIES: Super clean and nice and there’s a ton of free parking! I also loved my massage room — it was really zen and had these cute little beads hanging off the wall AND a heated bed, what more could you want?
MASSAGE: The massage was incredible. So, so good. I could not stop talking about it all weekend to anyone who would listen.
I dance 3 – 5 times a week, and have a lot of tension built up in my shoulders and lower back. So you could say I have a love-​hate relationship with deep tissue. Why? Because it’s painful and uncomfortable and the entire time you’re forcing yourself not to tense up but you go anyway because the payoff is so worth it. Right?
WRONG.
Lauren P has enlightened me. Deep tissues are fun, and awesome, and feel really really good, even if your masseuse is working out a particularly stubborn knot in your shoulder. Lauren took her time warming up all my muscles, shaking and rubbing them down before she started the massage. And when she did, it was AWESOME.
Her hands are so strong and her technique is so precise. I felt a lot of pressure as she worked on the knots on my back, but it never hurt (except in a good way) or felt uncomfortable. She absolutely one hundred percent knows what she is doing. With deep tissue, some masseuses can accidentally move your ligaments around because they are using so much pressure. Okay fine, it doesn’t really hurt you but is incredibly uncomfortable.
Despite all the pressure Lauren was exerting on my muscles, her hands/​elbows were super steady and she never «slipped». AMAZINGGGGG. The next day, I seriously felt like a whole new woman. All the pain in my body was just gone.
So yes! I will definitely be back! And if you have been looking for a deep tissue masseuse who will make all your pain go away, and make you enjoy every second of the process, you absolutely have to give Body Techniques a shot. It was the best $ 39 I have ever spent!
