Fairfield Inn & Suites Akron South

Definitely the nicest Fairfield I’ve ever stayed in! The front desk staff was pleasant, the room was newly remodeled and modern. I was very impressed! If I’m in the area again I’ll make it a point to stay here.

Recently update hotel although it was nice before. I’ve stayed at this hotel on several occasions. Great location. clean and comfy rooms. great customer. I was granted an extended check out time which was greatly appreciated

We stayed at this hotel this past weekend while attending a softball tournament nearby.
The pros:
Rooms were good sized for families
Suites had 2 flat screen TVs and a DVD player
Hot coffee was available in the dining area pretty much any time I went looking for it
The dark roast was some of the best hotel coffee I’ve ever had
We forgot a sheet for our toddler’s pack-​and-​play and the front desk was able to provide an appropriate sized PNP sheet.
Front desk staff was pleasant.
There were cookies at the front desk on check-​in (though not on later days)
Indoor pool and hot tub.
The cons:
The breakfast was not up to the hype — paper thin processed egg patties, sausage patties, an assortment of cold (and stale) cereal, and some breads (that kept running out). On the first day there was a waffle station, but only employees could operate the waffle maker and they were never available to do so. The second day, there was simply no waffles and nothing «extra» added to the breakfast to fill in for the missing waffles. On the upside, not having to make waffles (or avoid making waffles) freed the breakfast staff to sit around the breakfast area, chatting with each other, which they did for most of the time I spent having breakfast.
One of our travel companions attempted to use the in-​room Kuerig machine, but it didn’t work.
Ants. All over the bathroom and the adjacent coffee/​refrigerator area. I informed the front desk about them, but they weren’t terribly concerned.
Wifi? Not really.

Definitely the 2^nd best in the area overall. I stay in this area often and you have two hotels that top the list. This is 2^nd to the Courtyard Marriott in Canton.
Staff is on it all the time. Rooms are typical for the level and clean. The breakfast buffet is average to subpar though. Pool and exercise areas are adequate and clean.

Friendly and courteous staff. Looks like they have fun at work and enjoy helping the guests. Great knowledge of the area and willing to assist you in finding what you need. I had an emergency of sorts and needed to get to a store… no problems, they had directions waiting for me. Recommend staying here. Rooms are clean, some noise from the highway.

Very Clean and staff were nice!

Very average hotel. Staff was extremely friendly but for the price the accommodations were only average. Most significant issue is the noise from the highway, my room was on the end, 3 rd floor, towards highway and I heard traffic all night. The walls are also thin, could easily hear my neighbor watching tv and talking. Minor irritations: bathroom door would not close, remote for one tv did not work, woodwork and walls marked up, bed uncomfortable. For the same price there is a Hilton a few miles away that I switched my second night too, hopefully it will be better. Would stay here again if it was my only option.

I usually stay at Courtyard properties, but when I am in Akron, I prefer this Fairfield hotel. Its new, clean, and very conveniently located. There is a Friday’s in the same parking lot and a movie theater next door.
BOTTOM LINE: One of the better all around Fairfield Inn experiences.

A previous reviewer was upset there were no bellmen or guest umbrellas. Let’s get our expectations straight: Marriott’s Fairfield lines are not your full-​service, luxury hotels. I stay at this Fairfield for business and I could hardly ask for more for what it is. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and the price is right.

First impression… rude front desk. The rest of the stay was much better.

Not much to say about service, as this is very much self service hotel. You get a key and you won’t see front desk person again. If you are hungry, walk across the street and get a dinner at TGIF (by the way, hotel offers coupon… score!)
Room was super cold, maybe colder than outdoor. Thanks to maid service, they left AC on. Nice.
Room was clean and spacious, highly recommended for family.
This is bare born minimal Marriott group hotel. Don’t expect a lot, and your stay will be golden.

Stayed here recently for one evening. Unlike the review from Zedar B., I had a very nice stay. Not sure what he was expecting — Fairfield Inns and such typically don’t have a Bellman. If you want a Bellman, go stay at a regular Marriott. Fairfield Inns don’t typically sport a mini bar either.
I had a nice room on the third floor. Got a free room upgrade due to my Marriott points status. Room was comfortable, with the bed in a separate area from the desk/​living room area. Although it was a small area, it was comfy for watching TV and getting some work done sitting at the desk. The hotel has free Wifi — although it was a tad slow at times.
Bed was comfy — not to mushy, pillows were substantial — meaning they did not flatten down to the size of a pizza box. AC worked well in the room.
Bathroom and room in general were clean. Used the iron and ironing board. Room also had a mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave.
The lady at the front desk was very friendly, helpful, and sweet. I needed a couple of toiletries (toothpaste and mouthwash) that I had just run out of. She gave me some complimentary supplies.
They don’t have a pantry or convenience store to buy things from. I also got a bottle of water from her while at the front desk.
I’d stay here again!

I am a little disappointed in this Marriott hotel. It is no Courtyard Marriott, that’s for sure. I expected it to be average, on the level of, say, a Holiday Inn, but it was more like a Motel 6.
First, there was no bellman to help with my bags. Also, even though the hotel is not full, I was assigned a room near the elevator, next to another guest, in a construction area. There were not enough blankets and no water (or refidgerator or mini bar) in my room and the walls were thin. Everything was polyester and there are no umbrellas available for guests to borrow in the room or at the front desk.
Last, but not least, when I needed to check out early in the morning — at 5AM — there was nobody at the front desk. I called the hotel on my cel phone and the phone just rang and rang and rang. I waited for over 20 minutes. When the desk clerk came in from outside, he was rude and didn’t apologize for the inconvenience of my wait. He said I didn’t need to check out at all and he refused to credit my stay to my Marriott rewards account number. I was late arriving to the airport, but luckily I didn’t miss my flight. If I had paid full price for this hotel ($ 100/​night), I would feel ripped off, but since I paid closer to $ 60/​night by naming my own price on Priceline, it is acceptable.
On the plus side, there are guest laundry facilities, a pool, free continental breakfast, free Internet access and a business «library» (?). The shampoo and conditioner in the room was Pantene brand.
Note that there is a TGI Fridays next door, but no restaurant in the hotel.
