Akron Digital Academy’s mission is to provide a quality, online education grades K-12 that promotes achievement for all students and prepares them for success in completing quality work at the next level.
History
Established in 2003.
The ADA program was set up to be student oriented. At the ADA, the typical high school student entered two years behind his/her class, with academic skills 4 years behind students his/her own age. Elementary students had struggled in school, at times for academic reasons, but often for personal or situational reasons as well. Close to 90% of students were in economic need, almost 25% were in need of special education services, and 35% showed
disaffection on the state mental health scales. The Akron Digital Academy was established to overcome these
issues.
Today, staffing covers both academic and non-academic issues. Social workers, therapeutic counselors, intervention
specialists, and highly qualified teachers work with the target population of the ADA to optimize each student’s
success. The teaching staff includes both a mixture of newer teachers (30%) and 30 year veterans with at least a Master’s Degree. The program allows students to either graduate from the Akron Digita
