Oahu APA Pool League

Playing pool’s sort of like nature. you gotta have sunshine and rain to make a rainbow! when you first start with the league, you don’t know anyone on your own team. you win some games against other teams but you lose a way lot more… lol! the mind set at the beginning is way a lot different too… «ho! I’m way better than my opponent. I better buss um up! Garrens I going go to play at las vegas nationals!»
By the 3^rd season, you should congratulate yourself. you haven’t quit apa league! you should be a season veteran… even though you still be losing a way lot more than you’re winning, at least you know the names of your team mates and the names of everyone else on the other teams! lol! now you know that you beaten your opponent he/​she has a lower skill level than you. now, he/​she can beat you because of the great equilizer handicap system! lol! most of all, now you know that you and your team has two ways to go las vegas nationals for free: your team wins ltc (local team championships) or win the finals at the Singles Local 9Ball Qualifier in your skill level. you can do it!
so! go out on saturday (hawaiian brians), sunday (hawaiian brians), monday (all over oahu), tuesday (waikiki), wednesday (all over oahu), and thursday (kapolei) and meet new peeps and play some pool! :D

They have leagues all over the island. I play in one that is at Hawaiian Brians on Sundays. The other one’s have you roam between bars with pool tables. You don’t have to be good at pool to play in this league and the handicap system actually forces teams to have low ranked players. You’ll meet a lot of people that are friendly and willing to help you with your game.

the Oahu APA league has many different teams/​leagues running out of several places all over the island. Hawaiian Brian’s, TJ’s sports bar, and many other bars all over have leagues running RIGHT NOW!
no matter what area you live in, there is probably a league right near-​by… that being said, ANYONE CAN JOIN :)
no matter your skill level… if you’re a shark, or have never played pool in your life, there is no excuse! you can still join this fun and growing league!
i’ve only been in the league now for 2 seasons, but i’m having fun, meeting people, and learning new things every time i’m there.
there are open leagues (men and women, 9 and 8 ball), women’s league (8-​ball, women only), and several other categories… and its SUPER FUN!
Dante, the head guy in charge, is a nice guy and will give you any info you need.
everyone is so nice and really helpful. if you can get over the initial jitters, you’ll do just fine.
there are league fees, and if you play in any «out side» tournaments, there will be fee’s for those, but they aren’t too bad, and its all good times.

I’m a newbie to the league, but I’ve had fun so far.
If you like pool and have an open schedule, you might want to try the league out. The leagues run at many different venues around the island (actually all over the U.S.) and you can pick which location you’d like to play at. It’s all in good fun, but I think the competitive juices eventually start flowing when it’s crunch time.
The scoring system can be a little confusing, but I think it gets easier as you play along. Because they do a handicap ranking system, it balances some of the players out a little. Winners fly to Vegas.
The rating will get another star if we win. LOL
