Deriek and crew are simply awesome. Courteous, respectful, and professional, with me (the client) and knowledgable about his craft. Easily and readily accessible for questions about the project, as well as care for your property after the project is completed. Cleans up thoroughly after the job is done. Trustworthy when leaving him and the crew to their work while away from the home. They even make sure to lock up the gates before leaving. Affordable prices especially when compared to other estimates we reviewed. No can go wrong cause there’s nobody better.

Quick to reply, I was in a bit of a bind because I forgot about a showing I was going to do for my house and needed four very large hedges trimmed down. Contacted the owner and he set up everything with his son in law. The son in law came by with his wife, we negotiated to a fair price and he started work right then and there! Trimmed and shaped them exactly how I wanted and warned me about how it would look before the regrowth so I wasn’t alarmed or anything. (I basically had them chop it in half it was so owner grown) It looks so much better now and my yard looks huge now! The owner followed up with me to make sure that it was well done. Excellent customer service.

Derek is the man. Reasonable and knowledgeable. He cut my mango tree such that the fruit would be easily accessible next season, fertilized and gave me advice on tree care going forward.
He also is doing the environment a lot of good promoting more natural biodynamic practices and he also replaces a plant for each one he takes out of a customers property. Also great that he donates compost and wood to UH for agriculture and Hawaiian studies programs.

Deriek’s customer service was awesome! I’m very happy with how easy it was to work with him, getting a quote quickly and on the phone through pictures and texts. He and his team were at our house just two days later to do the job and it was accomplished quickly. They removed a bunch of tall palm trees and shrubbery. I’m just so happy with them and how efficient and fast Deriek and his team are. We would definitely use them again.

Deriek and team are just awesome. I had them come to remove a hibiscus bush hedge and they took it out, roots and all, very clean. While they were here the touched up some tree trimming that was previously done and made it look great. Gave me lots of great tips, very knowledgeable man. Really happy with their service, timeliness, and cost. Highly recommend.

WOW! What a great service! Derek and his guys did an amazing job. Not only did they do what they were for hired for (trimming way over grown trees and stump removal) they were on time and did the work efficiently. They were super courteous, went above and beyond to make sure the work they did was done right. Very clean throughout the whole process. Derek noticed we had an area that had an ant problem, he offered some advice and helped me get rid of the ants. Highly suggest this company!!!

My neighbors mango tree lost a big branch that fell partially into my yard. Luckily he called Derek and his crew. They were knowledgable, friendly and immediately available to help us both out. They cleared the immediate safety issues and then cleared the whole tree safely and quickly. They even offered to take care of some of the minor damage to the fence and a shed. Great experience with these guys I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends.

In two days Monkey Men, tree care specialists, transformed our very overgrown yard. What was once a small ficus plant grew over the years to become a weeping banyan tree that covered most of our gate. At any moment, the roots had the potential to cause a crack in the sidewalk. The centerpiece of our yard was a very old jubon tree that gave us much shade and cooled us down during the hot days. Our tiny hao tree had grown so much that it almost touched the jubon tree. The rest of our yard had thick foliage left unattended for quite a while.
Deriek Quismorio is so knowledgeable about trees. You can see how passionate and creative he is as he sculpts a tree. He steps back to see different perspectives the whole time he is working on it. Trim a branch here and there and step away to see what adjustments are needed. He then discussed with us if it was to our liking. At the same time, he would be teaching and instructing his crew and the homeowner as to what he was doing. You can see how much pride he takes in his work.
Our yard was transformed to a lovely garden with sculpted trees shaped like umbrellas in the front portion that can be admired by everyone. He and his crew removed invasive plants that could cause problems in the future. Wild growth was lopped off and the result was almost a new yard. He used Neem to help keep the leaves and grass organically healthy.
We are so happy with the results. Deriek’s suggestions truly improved our garden. We would highly recommend him to any residential homeowner who wants to change the look of your yard and make it into your private sanctuary.

We had MonkeyMan Tree Care (Derek and his crew) trim an overgrown Mango tree and a panax hedge. The price was reasonable and the work was excellent. In fact Derek far exceeded our expectations. His work ethic and determination to do the job right is amazing. Not only did he trim the tree far better than the three previous times, but he left our entire property looking far better than he found it. His clean up was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a better, more professional job. He even fertilized after finishing. We strongly recommend MonkeyMan Tree Care.

When I asked my contractor for a tree removal service referral, he didn’t have one, so he referred me to Monkeyman Tree Care through the referral of one of his vendors. Deriek called me that same day and came out to remove an overgrown African tulip tree which was growing up against and above our roof. Not only did they take care of the tree, but cut down all of the overgrown vegetation and weeds as well. The yard is landlocked, meaning there is no driveway or other nearby vehicle access, so it is quite amazing that they were able to clean the yard and haul away all of the debris in 2 days. Aces, Deriek. Mahalo!

Derek trimmed about 8, very over grown, trees in my yard. He was prompt, professional, courteous and did an excellent job! He not only completed all the work he originally agreed to, but also cleaned the gutters on my house and trimmed the rest of my yard. I can’t recommend him highly enough. If I ever need service performed on my yard in the future, Derek will be the only person I will consider.

Deriek from Monkey Man Tree Care is friendly, professional and knowledgable about tree/​plant care and maintenance in local Hawaiian gardens. The work was well-​coordinated and our property was clean when the crew left.
Heavy winds had broken our bougainvillea hedge. It had to be drastically pruned. There were lots of thorns… not an easy job. We also needed pruning of a few large trees and removal of areca palms and a lime tree.
We were so pleased with everything Deriek and his crew accomplished. They got up into the trees with ropes and pulleys, without damaging the trunk and branches, and they even cleaned out our roof gutters while they were up there!
Deriek planted a new lime tree to replace the one he removed. And recently, he gave us mulch for our yard (and applied it!) that he had chipped from a tree he had cut down. All at no cost to us! WOW! What a nice guy!

We had a very positive experience with Derek and his crew. They cut down 2 trees for us, including taking out the root base and chipping it. The owner (Derek) offered to include any additional trimming etc we might want in his quote and asked us to make a list for him. Well our list included trimming several trees and removing some large plants– all of this was done. The crew we had was courteous and did a great job of cutting and clean up. In fact, Derek even brought over and planted a new tree for us to replace the trees we had to take down! Highly recommend this crew.

The best Tree Crew and Service ever! The guys and the Owner was awesome and my yard was as clean as it was before they started trimming my trees (sure to recent wind and storm). Friendly, professional, caring and know exactly what they are doing. Would recommend this company to anyone who needs their services without hesitation. The Bomb!

This review is about the interactions with the owner, Deriek, and a few workers of this company.

A young college student was parked in a area that was coned off by the company. At the time the particular spot wasn’t coned off but the company insists it was and with no witness of the student moving the cones, simply assumed he did and took further unprofessional action.
Upon returning to his car, the car was surrounded with cones and pieces of wood that would prevent him from moving unless he ran it all over.
The student was approached by one of the workers with a hostile demeanor and foul language. The workers would not accept the student’s side of the story. The same worker even threatened to fight the student when the student calmly said he didn’t want to fight about this.
To make this review worse, the owner of the company was there as well. He threatened damage to property of the student by saying they were going to smash his windows and put wood chips in it and put it in YouTube.
I spoke with the owner of the company on the phone about this situation and he laughed it off saying it was all a joke. He denied the threats and the foul language. He was even shouting at me over the phone. His justification for his company’s unprofessionalism is that the state hired the company to get rid of the trees of a condemned house. (I didn’t realize that gave the right to do and say what you want to people.)
This is the most unprofessional company I have ever had the misfortune to come across. I suppose it’s not surprising the way the situation was handled based on my conversation with the owner. He just kept trying to tell me how the car was parked in their work site and ignoring the point of my phone call which was to discuss HOW the situation was handled. There was no sign of remorse or an apology. Apparently everyday citizens and people around do not matter to this company; only paying customers.

This guy is on it! Derek knows his trees and the care he gives in trimming is great. He will inform you why he trims it a certain way, so that the tree will grow properly. He doesn’t just cut the tree and leave, but gives extra care to make sure the job is done right before he is finished. Worth it!
