Takeout orders. They don’t give you utensils and napkins. Always check before you leave … Workers are rude. They pretend that they don’t hear you…

They cook your food right in front of you. So you know it wasn’t sitting in the back for a while. You get to pick five different vegetables. Love coming here when we go to Pearlridge.

I like to order here since it’s the last ‘affordable’ Japanese food spot left in Pearlridge. Located in the uptown(Macy’s) side food court. If I’m not too hungry, I’ll grab one of their hot and fresh spam musubis($ 2) or if I’m hungry, I’ll order their beef and egg rice bowls($ 8). Once in a while I will order the fried udon. Everything is made fresh on the spot, except for the musubis. If you order the fried noodles, you get to pick five veggies to go along with it. You can choose the noodles to be made with beef, chicken, or shrimp. The veggies are NOT covered and I have seen customers actually stick their hand in the veggie containers to point out what they wanted. I like the beef(gyu don) or chicken(oyakudon) rice bowls. They do come out hot and fresh so it takes a few minutes to cool down. The beef and chicken are both cooked in a special sauce which is pretty tasty with the eggs and rice. Customer service is so so here and a little slow. I have yet to be greeted by someone who seems to like their job, but my orders have always been made correctly. This is my favorite place to grab spam musubis, I don’t care for the one sold at Aloha Sushi. Credit cards accepted.

I’ve been here a few times whenever I’m at Pearlridge’s food court to have lunch. The food court is busy regardless what day or time you go as far as I’ve experienced. I usually get the chicken and egg bowl but I tried their fried udon noodles with chicken. It was good! I asked for spicy but it didn’t come spicy. They just gave me spicy sauce for it. I figured it was going to be cooked within the noodles and vegetables. Nonetheless, it was still tasty and filling that I ate it in two sittings. I was able to choose 5 choices of vegetables as they cook it tappanyaki style in front of you on their grill. I also had their spring rolls, not the greatest as it was oily and a bit burnt for my taste. Prices are reasonable but the wait takes a while.

Located at Pearlridge food court. The food is hit or miss. The beef & shrimp is what I normally prefer and you get to choose five veggies to be stir fried with it. Sometimes the sauce is way too sweet, which ruins it for me. But if it’s cooked just right, it’s a great meal! I have to say, I ordered a plate about 30 minutes before closing the other day and got the burnt, bottom of the pot type of rice the other day… but the entrée was fine. Their thinly sliced beef is always very tender and tasty and their stir fried shrimp is pretty good as well.

The food was horrible! Ordered shrimp & beef and there was more onions than beef & shrimp, the other plate we got was there version of Kahuku garlic shrimp. Total fail! The shrimp was over cooked and was just nasty! I threw my whole plate away! Didn’t want to deal with people who can’t speak English and play dumb when there is a a complaint. I should of hit my $ 20.00 bucks back! But NO, I just donated it to horrible food #DOHshouldshutitdown.

Christmas shopping can be crazy. Gotta eat. Phase I(uptown?) food court in Pearlridge Shopping Center is a good start. I usually eat at Kyoto. Food is tasty and prices are fair for what you get. I ate the stir fry fried noodles(udon) with shrimp. My wife got me hooked on this. Since udon is a thicker noodle, its chewy. Reminds us of mochi. Must try if you like mochi. Besides choosing the meat(protein), you get to choose 5 veggies to add to the stir fry. Choices are cabbage, broccoli, onions, bean sprouts, mushrooms, shin take mushrooms, and carrots. check it out. Pros: tasty udon fried noodles Cons: veggies bar exposed; should be covered

Kyoto’s new spicy garlic shrimp plate is as good as it gets! This is always my go to place when I head over to Pearlridge. Their fresh ingredients and speedy personalized service can’t be beat! I usually get the beef yakisoba, and pick out whichever 5? or so veggies that I want that day, but their new garlic and spicy garlic shrimp plates are so amazing, I know I’ll definitely get it again!

Always go here whenever I go to Pearl Ridge. Right next to Pearl’s Kitchen and Church Chicken. Very friendly staff and it isn’t busy compare to the other food places at the food court. You also get to watch the cooks make your food. Beef with mushrooms is my fav! Never get tired of it. I hope this place stays there forever.

Service: quick it’s in a mall food court can’t really say much about the workers cause they don’t really say much but never rude so no problems Food: I always get the beef Yakiudon and my choice of veggies I think you get to pick 5… the flavor is good I usually get spicy(which isn’t really spicy but still extra spice and flavor then then the regular) the veggies look and taste fresh the noodles are good and a nice alt. to rice cause sometimes you want something different the beef is thin & tender and soaks up the flavor so I enjoy that. Always nice and hot never cold. Overall: check it out if you’re in the mall would give it a ½ extra point if i could for the simple but yummy food

I either get the beef with veg plate or the chicken with egg bowl. Both are delicious. Food cooked right in front of you is a plus. Very consistent and reasonably priced. Excellent food court dining experience!

Hidden in the food court of Uptown mall. Its a Japanese style food, kinda like teppanyaki style. It was pretty good. We got the shrimp tempura. The shrimp isn’t like the other Japanese restaurant. They fried it differently, using different panko flakes or something? My friend is an expert on shrimp because he can tell. Hahaha. It was a decent portion with the decent price. Not bad. I would love to come back to try the other plates.

Did take-out of chicken and chicken/shrimp plates with veggies. Consistently tasty. Love being able to choose the vegetables(5 choices) that go into my meal and watch them cook. Add a little Sriracha and you’re good to go!

I agree with previous posts about changing the name of this restaurant. They barely serve sushi or bento. I chose a meat(chicken) and a few vegetables to be stir fried together and served over rice. There is a trend starting on the island that I hope this place adopts soon: the starch option. Hawaii tends to have a problem with eating WAY too much rice and mac salad. Many places now offer white AND brown rice. I was disappointed when I found out Kyoto has not invested yet in that second rice maker. I did love the vegetable choice. You barely see shiitake mushrooms as an option because of the price, but boy they really added to the taste. All in all, very filling and very tasty. I just wish they had a few more options.

The reason why I come here is for their spam musubi. It reminds me how I make mines.

If like me, you expect a food court meal to consist of mediocre food served to you by a lackluster disinterested crew, you will not be disappointed by Kyoto. At least you can be assured their food is fresh since you watch them cook it. Otherwise, Kyoto delivers a typical food court dining experience.

Located in the Pearlridge uptown food court. They really need to change the signage here to better explain what it is the do/serve here. Most people have no idea. Most people think it’s just another japanese restaurant. It’s kind of like mongolian bbq. You choose your meat(s), choose your vegetables(up to 5) and they stir fry it right in front of you and serve it to you plate lunch style. There are also other japanese entrees available. The place is clean, the service is good, the food is fresh and you get quite a bit for the money. I usually get the beef plate.

My bro and I got the beef and chicken plate that included 5 choices of stir-fry veggies each. It looked scrumptious. Unfortunately it was way too salty. :(We couldn’t finish our plates.

Having lunch here today brought back so many memories of my high school days when I used to order the Teriyaki Chicken with Rice plate. Today I decided to order something different since I’ve never tried anything else. I ordered the Yakisoba with Chicken. It’s great how you get to choose five different vegetables! All of the vegetables are placed nicely in front for us to choose from(Sometimes it’s scary when it’s hidden in the kitchen: P). The amount of food they give is pretty generous for $ 6.25 :) It’s not as delicious as Sugoi’s yakisoba but definitely good if you’re in Pearlridge Mall shopping and craving a light/healthy meal. It’s also kind of fun to see the chef prepare your food right in front of your eyes. it’s similar to Tanaka of Tokyo… only difference is that it’s in a food court: P
