Very friendly and prompt service. When I moved to Hawaii from overseas, they were able to walk me through the safety check/​registration process and got me a same day appointment. I was done within 15 minutes. Definitely recommend this business.

VERY RUDE RECEPTIONIST. Asked if they had time for a quick tire patch today. She said «there’s no such think as a quick patch» then just paused until I asked if they would have time. Very bad attitude. I’ll be buying brand new tires next month for my Lexus, but NOT from here.

Came in for an estimate since Toyota really wanted me to change my 4 tires. So here I am on a Tuesday, 2 days before New Year’s eve thinking I will get a quote and get them changed next year. Boy was I wrong. Was able to get an appointment on New Year’s eve. And it was done by lunch. Awesome!

I have a 78 Vette and wanted old school Cragar SS wheels and tires mounted. I went to three shops, all said no. The fourth said they would do it; offered to sell me tires, but would not mount them… go figure.
Luckily one shop recommended Hawaii Tire and Auto Center. Spoke with Peni and Virginia, they told me where (very few shops sell 15″ tires) to look and I was able to find a set. Got it installed and now the Vette looks great! Highly recommend them if you want honest and great prices.

My review is based on the amazing service I received at Hawaiian Tire and Auto Center. The owner Peni Tailo is someone who truly cares about his customers! He personally checked us in, called us promptly a couple hours in to let us know what he found needed to be done, said he would work on the vehicle and then was also the same person who called to tell us the car was done. I had my rear rotors and brakes replaced. It came out to much less than I expected. I definitely will be going back when I need more repairs done! Thank you for your wonderful service!!!

I needed to find a new service center for my car after moving to the Aiea area, so of course I checked Unilocal and was impressed with all the great reviews for Hawaiian Tire. I’m glad to say I was not disappointed. It was time for a regular oil change and tire rotation, and I was also concerned about the car idling very low while the A/​C was running at an intersection. This used car was a new purchase for me, so I wasn’t sure if there was an issue or not. My appointment was in order upon arrival, and the receptionist even had the mechanic come up front and get the details of the idling issue so nothing would get lost when she tried to explain it later. A few hours after leaving my car, the mechanic called to let me know that my car was ready and that the low idle was normal for this size engine. He went on to say he found no diagnostic error codes regarding the engine, and the car performed well during his test drive. However, there were a couple of codes relating to the tire pressure system, and he got that resolved. The final bill was what I expected for the service performed, so no unpleasant surprises at checkout. Hawaiian Tire is my new go-​to place for all my auto service needs.

If you’re looking for a reliable, reasonable mechanic in the Aiea area, look no further than Peni at Hawaiian Tire and Auto Service. I recently bought a ’07 Subaru all-​wheel drive with about 65,000 miles and was looking for a good mechanic. I needed 60,000 mile maintenance and rear brakes. I dropped off the car in the morning, got a call about an hour later from Peni explaining that he’d completed the 60,000 mile maintenance checklist and oil change, and checking to make sure I wanted to go ahead with the brake job, which I did. A couple hours later, he was done. 60,000 maintenance labor & oil change for $ 200, and brake job for $ 260, total = $ 460. Quicker, cheaper, and a whole lot more straightforward than the dealer. Looks like I found my mechanic, thank you Peni at Hawaiian Tire and Auto Service.

This place rocks if you want to have your new or used tires and rims mounted and balanced from your old rims and tires… Super courteous and friendly office manager who will let you know all that needs to be done and a fair estimate. The mechanics are very helpful as well and take the time to insure installation is done properly and in a timely manner… They don’t rush… Will come back for all my automotive needs as well as safety!!!

Excellent place for recon alignment, just got my 4Runner done and the lady in the front is a sweetheart.

SUMMARY: I just came back from an amazing experience with Hawaiian Tire and Auto Service for a last-​minute alignment for my car! BEN, the service tech, was super friendly, knowledgeable, and did an absolute FANTASTIC job to align to my specs. Also the front desk ladies are absolute gems! Just because they don’t have «alignment» in their name you should definitely go see them! I know I will from here on out!
The Situation: My visit here was for a 4-​wheel «thrust» alignment for my 2005 Subaru STi. I just installed coilovers the day before and needed not just a «normal» alignment, but an «aggressive» alignment that can be made to my specifications. I called at 8:15am on a Friday and they had an appointment at 9:30am. (Other places were already overbooked) I arrived early at 9:15am to a wonderful and friendly lady (her name escapes me right now) who asked me the right questions to be sure they’re doing the absolute best and accurate job for my needs. She also informed me straight-​up that there would be extra costs for my specific request (extra $ 20-​$ 25 per tire) and possibly extra time involved. I totally understood and greatly appreciated her honesty and straightforwardness! They took my car in promptly and went right on the rack.
**Note: Although the front desk ladies are super-​friendly, please don’t call them and ask «dumb» questions expecting them to be tire, alignment, mechanic expert technicians! I felt sorry for them while there, as they’re trying to help and sort current customers, orders, etc. COME/​CALL knowing what you want!
The total time was a little less than two hours, again, which was expected for my needs. During that time, Ben, the tech working on the car, visited me a couple times to keep me updated on what he was doing. He was super friendly and seemed very knowledgeable. When it was all said and done, my car came off the rack and Ben took it for a test drive to be sure.
The Price: When I went to pay, Ben informed me that he had to do a little more physical labor to get the rear in alignment. (which i witnessed) My cost was a little under $ 200, to which was an EXTREMELY reasonable price considering! Normal «lowered» alignment plus «rack fees» is usually around $ 160-​$ 180. They also had to take off all four wheels to get to my specs, so not bad at all! I’m guessing a «normal» alignment would be half this price!
The Bonus: Ige’s Kitchen is right next door if you get hungry during the lunch hour. Yum!

Highly recommended for those with run flat tires. One of my tires was leaking around the valve stem and I called in the morning, dropped off car around noon and had it back a couple of hours later. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional.

Came to replace my tires and have my suspension checked. Got a quick estimate to change two tires, mount & balance for about $ 220. To have the suspension checked they said it would be another $ 50 to get the car up on the rack to just take a look. Suggested we just go ahead and change the tires first and if they could take a look at the suspension for free while they have it up on the rack to change the tires. Agreed so made appointment. Dropped off car and when I returned they said tires mounted but that one of their equipment was broke and that I should come back so they could finish what they needed to do properly. Ended paying $ 260 for $ 180 Ohtsu tires — eh not so bad.
Anyway made another appointment & dropped the car back a week later assuming it would be pretty quick since they’re just checking this out at this point but they’re backed up cause other customers came in late. Anyway I don’t want to make another appointment so decide just to let them finish their work & wait. When I come to pick up the car though they charge me another $ 90 for an alignment that I did not ever ask for! and no word about the suspension. I came back because they asked me to come back so they could finish the original work that was already paid for. There was nothing ever mentioned that an additional charge would be made. As I was in a rush didn’t argue much about it but did let them know they blindsided me.
Service is adequate, I guess just make sure you get something written. Either just a bad communication mistake or… Anyway I wouldn’t go back again– just go costco for no hassle and lower prices. Better tires there would of cost me no more than $ 250. Seen better, seen worse — nothing special here.

Called the day before because I needed some last minute front brake pad replacement. This was the only place that wasn’t booked, they said sure come in and leave it, we’ll get it done. Not only did they, they called and gave me a quote and recommended my rotors were close to gone front and back, which I had a feeling. Instead of taking it in 6 months later, which was an option of theirs, I decided to do it all. They didn’t push and even suggested various parts from generic to high end with pricing.
Awesome place, friendly, pricing was competitive and above average, but if you want it done right, you have to pay for it. I was happy an satisfied. Would definitely recommend!

This is the best mechanic shop on the island. They provide super fast service super affordable prices and great customer service. Virginia and Penny are the best! They know how to fix cars better than anybody, their extensive knowledge on auto mechanic work and their ability to receive parts from the manufacture efficiently and fast allows them to provide fast customer service and ability to give the clients their cars back in a quick and timely manner. I will recommend this business to anyone of my friends.
