The worst service I’ve ever received from ANY restaurant in my life ! The server was rude and seemed like he didn’t want to serve our table(we didn’t know why) our server got into a fight with another server in front of everyone and then was yelled at by the manager also in front of us. We had to walk up to get our own condiments, walk up to ask for refills. We felt completely and utterly disrespected from the server who slammed down our food and rolled his eyes every chance he got. NEVERAGAIN !!!

Ordered the $ 12.99 shrimp and lobster special. It was ok. The severs was friendly. But didn’t expect this. Check your final charge. They overcharged me. They added extra $ 3 tip to the bill. Will not repeat this place again. Contacted credit card company and disputed the charge and filed a complaint.

For those Cali peeps, this place is like Boiling Crab but with a dull & sad atmosphere. But as they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. You order shrimp by the pound, pick the seasoning(Cajun, garlic butter, Cajun garlic butter, lemon garlic butter, plain & simple, or black bean sauce) & spice levels(none, mild, medium, or volcanic), with the option to add on sides. We ordered the medium… And it was FIRE! The fried chicken & Cajun fries were also delicious. The inside of this place could use an upgrade, but the food is good & affordable. I prefer this place is better over Crab Bucket!

This is my go to place for shrimp and crawfish boil in Honolulu. Seasoning was on point, and you get a decent amount for the price. Mix that seasoning with some rice! Ive been here 3 – 4 times, and service was always good. Never tried anything else though, but a friend of mine said the fries are really good.

So, I love seafood, and my family decided to come here for a birthday celebration. It was worth it! I ordered the Combo #1 which included a whole lobster, mussels, crawfish, clams, and whatever else with a Cajun and Garlic Butter seasoning, with a medium heat level. The seasoning was on point, the seafood was fresh, and let’s just say I wasn’t afraid to get my hands dirty. Hahaha. Anyway, definitely coming back when I can. PROS: — Casual and laid back atmosphere. — The seafood is flavorful and fresh. — The sauce is also a plus! I enjoyed mixing the sauce and rice together like a true Filipino :) — The workers were very nice and attentive. The one server we had even cracked jokes with my family and I, and personally packed my leftovers since he saw me having«problems» LOL. CONS: N/A

Our first time coming here. We got the shrimp, lobster, clams, prawn combo with garlic butter sauce. It was tasty and was enough for the two of us. We ordered the black bean clams which I normally order at Chinese restaurants, but it was extremely salty and we probably wouldn’t order again. The staff was friendly; gentleman welcomed us and explained the dishes; a female server came by to check on us periodically.

This was my 7 year old daughter’s birthday dinner. She LOVES shrimp! If I could, I’d give it zero stars. When we sat down, our party of 2 adults 3 kids was one of three tables seated. When we ordered our drinks, the waiter had no idea which drinks to recommend. My daughter put her weight on her side of the table and it was so wobbly all my kids drinks went flying. This was the worst part. My 3 kids and I immediately started cleaning up. The FIVE servers watched us and not a single person offered us help. I had to fold up our paper and get new paper for our table. I had to get on my hands and knees and wipe up the floor. I had to wipe down my kids chairs. I’ll repeat! NOT A SINGLEEMPLOYEEOFFEREDHELP!!! They also never offered to refill my daughter’s sprite. We ordered popcorn chicken, catfish, and a pound of shrimp with sausage, corn, and potatoes. The chicken came, 10 min. later the catfish came. Then we waited. And waited. And waited for 40 minutes. 5 tables were seated and served before I asked the first time about our shrimp. I asked again 10 minutes later. No one ever got back to me. We sat there for almost an hour. We watched the restaurant fill. We had a good view, because we were in the exact center of the restaurant. We watched people start, finish, and pay for their dinners and my 7 year old continued to ask when she’d be getting her birthday dinner. We were never given bibs, gloves, or utensils. We had to get those ourselves. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks. I hate to post this, because the lemon garlic sauce really is good. But there are other restaurants in this niche, and we will be frequenting there. Right now, I’m off to soothe my birthday girl who is extremely disappointed in her special birthday dinner.

I want to keep this review short & to the point, so here goes… Sad that I live not 5 minutes away &JUSTDISCOVEREDTHEM! I could kick myself in the a**! But my first experience was an amazing one & I hope every visit hereafter can live up to it. No wait time & they did’t have much foot traffic so I was greeted & seated almost instantly. I’ve been to other places before so I was familiar with how to order

The wait on a weekend night was about 40 mins. The place looked nice inside. My husband and I had a pound of shrimp, a pound of crawfish, fried chicken, and fries. The price was great for the amount of food you can get. It was a messy dinner, but it was tons of fun playing around with the crawfish and shrimp. At first I got mad at the server he gave me a coke instead of a sprite and he was hard to get ahold when he just slam our stuff on the table and walked quickly away. He also took another tables order who were sat after us.

Love their Cajun Garlic Butter shrimp and mussels! We order ours in Medium heat and it’s just right for us. The wait staff aren’t the most attentive which is why I gave it 4 stars. Also wish we had a bucket in the middle of the table to throw our shells and such.

This is honestly my favorite Cajun/Creole place. When I go, I always get 1 pound of shrimp, add some corn, and if I’m really hungry, I’d get the Cajun style chicken wings with Cajun-seasoned fries(it comes with either rice or fries — but you must try the Cajun fries!). Love their Cajun Garlic Butter sauce! The mild hotness for their sauce is good enough for me! Medium is a little too spicy! This place is also a little cheaper than other Cajun/creole places. Their 1-pound of shrimp is only $ 11! Love it! Cons: One night, I called Cajun King around 9:20pm(they close at 10pm) to do a take-out order, but apparently, their last call is at 9:15pm, so anytime after that, you can’t do take-out or order any food. Why do you even open till 10 then? At least do last call 30 mins before closing? 45 mins is a bit long. To sum it up: Best Cajun garlic butter sauce I’ve had on the island. Cheaper than most places! Ample parking, but roads are not paved, so prepare for a bumpy ride! Call before 9:15pm if you want a late night dinner.

They have CRAWFISH! I’m from Texas and love me some crawfish. This place was pretty darn good. Loved their Cajun garlic butter sauce that everything was slathered in and we got it spicy. Ours came with King crab, crawfish, muscles, clams, potatoes, corn, and served with rice on the side. Get ready to get down and dirty just like and other crawfish boil. We’ll be back!

My grandparents wanted to check this place out because their son loves seafood and he loves this place. I was living in Kaneohe until January and had never bothered to check out the Windward location since bf grew up in the Bay Area(so he’s picky on seafood, especially shellfish). We went on a Tuesday night around 5:30. Parking at Waimalu Shopping Center is always crazy around meal time. There were only 2 other families when we entered. We were seated promptly and Travis, our server, met us soon after we were seated. They were out of Snowshoe crab when we went. Not a problem since none of us are snowshoe fans. My grandpa loves seafood, especially shrimp. He’s hard of hearing. He also has high standards because he and Grandma went to New Orleans and believes that the seafood he ate there is the standard of cajun. Grandma’s eyesight is poor and the bottom back of the menus were faded so she kept complaining about their faded state. Travis was a whole lotta patient with us and throughout the time, helped to lighten the antagonizing things. Thank you, Travis, seriously. They’ve got popular beers, coke products, and unsweetened teas. I had a bud light. I needed it. The seafood is a good deal. For how much you get, the choices of sauces, the choices of spice level, etc. Grandparents felt like they were back in Kahuku in their good olé days. Its also hella messy, which got really fun for me as I’m wrecking my lobster(womanly manners? whats that?). I don’t know if the seafood was from sustainable farming but their sizes were quite a sight(Grandpa thought the shrimps were going to be small.). I got a side of rice just in case the Grandparents wanted, and I ended up pouring my Cajun Style mild sauce over it after I was done with my lobster. The crowd picked up around 7pm. It was very noticeable. They were loud, rude, demanding, all the type that would not make me want to come back. They yelled at the server for not immediately seating them after they entered. Another pair escalated when they found out they couldn’t substitute a shellfish in the bucket. It felt so West Side ratchet that made me want to face palm. Great to try out for the first time and a great place that adds variety in Hawaii dining. Not for those that want a dinner with manners, a quiet atmosphere, or are allergic to seafood. I havent had a lot of Cajun but from what I have eaten before, this is good flavor for a good price.

My coworker one day was talking about seafood and how she loved this place! She kept telling me I had to go try and get the garlic butter! My reaction was… I gotta drive to AIEA!!! Her: I live in Hawaii Kai! me: ok you’re farther but STILLAIEA?! This place better blow my mind. I went on a weekday, I got the combo with the dungeous crab which is what I always get at all Cajun places. The combo like most places comes with shrimp, clams, mussels, crawfish, sausage, corn on cob and potatoes and bowl of rice. I’m not a fan of crawfish but this place doesn’t let you substitute. I didn’t like that, I always sub for more shrimp at other places. Got what she said to get Garlic butter and I thought it was Mehh. I also got fried oyster with fries. That wasn’t bad. Just a reminder the crab comes whole, you have to start cracking and ripping it apart yourself. Bring a guy :) Price wise: Average. Was it worth my drive? Ehh no. I prefer to go to crab bucket in town.

Buckets of Seafood. worth it? Looking for a decent place for Cajun Seafood? Have a hankering for seafood bake? Maybe something similar to Boiling Crab? I’d highly recommend this place solely based on those cravings alone! I’ve been here a few times recently, of those times I had tried their Combo A, Cajun fries, fried chicken, and raw oysters. There’s not that much ‘Cajun Seafood’ on Oahu, and I believe Cajun King would be the only one located on the West/Central side of Oahu. Located in the Waimalu Shopping center, you wont miss its White and Red Sign! There is ample parking, however the road is a bit bumpy so be sure to drive safely! :) Great insight from a waiter! — Do order seafood by pound, because you get what you pay for — Do order the sides on the side(inexpensive and you get a lot more than the combo) — When you get a combo, the only one worth the price is Combo B — Order cajun fries with chicken,($ 7 just for the cajun fries, $ 9 for both chicken and fries) not a bad deal and the chicken is amazing! — Get the Volcanic, if you can handle spice, if you can’t order medium so you can enjoy your meal! :) The wait staff here aren’t that alert, however they have a great charisma when serving customers. Of those times I’ve come here, they have forgotten rice, sauces, coming back to refill water, and we would always have to flag down our waiters. a little bit much right? This place can accommodate huge parties, but they have a service charge with it. Would I come back, maybe once in a while!

If we’re too lazy to drive to town for some seafood, this is me and my bf’s go-to place for Cajun seafood! So damn good. This place never fails to satisfy our tummies and our cravings! We ALWAYS get the combos, usually combo #4. It comes with snow crab legs, crawfish, shrimp, mussels, clams, Portuguese sausage, potatoes, and corn. Other than the seafood, we also get the Cajun chicken and fries. We usually do finish a whole bag of what we order but we don’t seem to finish the chicken and fries… lol. The service here is pretty slow though so that explains why I had to knock off one star. One day, we went in during lunch when it wasn’t that busy and I felt like we were ignored a lot even though we were sitting in the front :(The workers were on their laptops and talking stories… But whatever. Our food also took quite a while and my cup wasn’t refilled until we were almost leaving. Pretty sad that I do have to take off a star due to their service but the food makes up for it. Cajun King is located in the Waimalu Shopping Center, where Kapiolani Coffee Shop is also located. It is never a hassle to find parking here, so I don’t know why people complain about looking for parking here when there are so many parking stalls. The only downside about the parking area in this shopping center is that their are too many pot holes.

My boyfriend I love our seafood and this place always hits the spot good! The wait time might be long but it’s always worth it. Probably especially longer wait time if you have a big party. My mom made a reservation for us and some school buddies(maybe 10) during rush hour traffic time and there was no problem getting a table then. Being a local that has lived on the island all my life, I have no clue what authentic crab shack food is so don’t judge. All I know is if I want seafood this is where I go. Normal order goes: butter garlic dungeonous crab, no spice, with a side order of fries. I dip the fries in the butter garlic sauce and that is heaven. Then with my gloves and silly apron I carefully dig into a huge crab of buttery, garlicky goodness! Every now and then the bf will want some raw oysters which are served with ponzu and onions, yum! On crazy busy nights you can expect a slip up on orders from either kitchen or wait staff but nothing ever major so all is forgiven. Parking can get scarce because of all the other businesses in the area but we make do.

4⁄5 stars to reflect the taste and quality of the food, and for the atmosphere. 1⁄5 stars for the wait time. My family and I waited 35 minutes to be seated on a busy Friday night. We didn’t mind it since we were occupied with other things, however we waited another 30+ minute to get our food. Apparently they were having«boiling» issues. After sitting around for an hour, we finally got our food. For the 3 of us, we ordered Combo#2(Dungeness Crab Mix) & Combo#4(Snow Crab Mix). I preferred the Cajun Style & Garlic over the Butter & Garlic. So glad that the food was good. It made the wait time worth it. Do they usually have«boiling» issues? The staff here were nice and apologetic too. I would like to come back, but I hope I won’t have to wait an entire hour again.

BLUF: Teleportation is a fact! Or at least you will believe it is when you set foot into the Cajun King and catch the aroma of Cajon style cooking and the ambiance of a «down south» family restaurant. Overall, 4 stars for the delicious down home cooked crab, lobster and steak as well as the attentive service to include Chaz! It would have been — 5 star rated experience, but Chaz was getting off duty, and there was a disconnect handing off our table to the next server; causing us to wait about 10 minutes before we got an drink refills and orders taken. To amplify my ambiance comment, when you walk in, you hear country music playing in the background, and see rows of almost picnic style tables covered with butcher paper and a paper towel dispenser for each table. With all of he pounding and cracking of seafood shells, the paper towels are a must. I would say this is a great place for groups or if you just need A Cajun seasoned seafood fix, but not so good for a date or just to have a romantic dinner. You come here if you are planning to engage in the serious business of grinding!

I had high hopes for this place. To start off, I’m vacationing Hawaii from New Orleans. I was craving some crawfish and snow crab. I ordered a pound of volcanic(the spiciest) Cajun style crawfish and a pound of lemon garlic butter snow crab legs. The girl who took my order was really friendly. The parking lot was really crowded. It took a while to find parking. The restaurant was fairly busy and I waited 20 – 25 minutes for my food, which I did not mind. My total came up to roughly 28 $, which is a really good price. When I got my seafood, it smelled great. I couldn’t wait to go home and dig in. But, when I finally started eating, I was thoroughly disappointed. Both the crawfish and snow crab were really, really salty. The snow crab had good flavor to it, but the salt killed it. The snow crab was cook well, not perfect, but close enough. The crawfish was a bit of disaster. First off, it had garlic in it, which confused me. I’m from New Orleans. We created Cajun crawfish. We don’t put garlic in it. It was salty and not Cajun at all. I could tell that the crawfish were frozen, and a lot of them were dead before they were frozen. I should have known when the server told me that they used Thai Chili. They were not as spicy as they should be. Real Cajun crawfish will have your nose running by the 5⁄6th crawfish. These were mildly spicy if even that. I was unable to finish the bags of seafood because it was just way too salty. I was also slightly annoyed that I was charged $ 3 for a 24 ounce drink. This place may be good for locals. For me it’s just too salty. If you really want snow crabs, just get it plain and dip in butter.

Decided to try this place out on a whim! Knee the places in town were really good personally like Raging Crab but seeing as we didn’t need to make the drive to town, why not? First of all the location is right near all the well known Waimalu spots like Kapiolani Coffee Shop, Shiros and Kabukis to name a few. Parking here can be a tad bit irritable but most of the time because of the business you’ll find a car pulling out quite steadily. We did make reservations ahead of time which is nice, we were a party of 8 I believe. The interior is very clean and inviting, they have pretty large tables for all the space you’ll need to open up the bags an chow down. When we sat i noticed right away they had a bar! Score! Beers and crab boil always a plus together. The server came over and immediately asked if we were ready, seeing as it was our first time we took time to overlook the menu. Kind of pricy but expected. Me and the hubby split a bag that included crab legs, clams, mussels, shrimp, craw fish, sausage, corn & potatoes. There were multiple flavors to choose from. Garlic butter, cajun, extra spicy amd some others i cant remember. The price was around $ 55 then with the add-ons and kids meal, etc, we paid close to a hundred bucks. Our server was super lazy, he didn’t give us any utensils to use to open the crab up with, we had to ask. Rice came and we had no forks to eat with. I guess he assumed seeing as we’re already using our hands that we would eat rice with that also. We asked for refills twice during our seating. As a server your suppose to service your tables and he didn’t do that. I was super dissatisfied the bag we ordered wasn’t as great as the price and the service sucked so even more so, and then on top of that the server got an added gratuity from each of our checks. 3 total he made about 50 – 60. I almost told manager to remove gratuity but didnt. As long as I get good service I don’t mind giving a good tip for what I received, however if its the opposite then you don’t get crap. Hoping to give this place a chance not revive it’s self, we will see. Good luck to you!

Please bear with me as I still have garlic breath and stinky hands(yes I had the gloves they provided on). I was in need of the mintiest gum and strong sanitizer. Let’s rewind to the moment we got there, shall we? We were able to be seated after waiting a few minutes and the server came shortly after that. We were super ecstatic. This was the first time ever trying out a «you need a bib because it gets everywhere» type of place. Let the feast BEGIN! We ordered 1 lb of shrimp and 1 lb of crab legs with garlic/mild seasoning. We also had the Cajun fries, corn and our little one the popcorn chicken. It sounds like a lot of food, but it really isn’t. You spend your time peeling and by the time you get to your next bite, your previous bite is already digested. Food(3.5 stars) — the crab legs were easy to crack and they were tasty in that sauce. The shrimp was pretty good, but honestly if they could’ve at least removed the head, it would’ve been a lot easier to peel. Every time I was about to peel one, I felt the eyes of the shrimp on me. I don’t know if it freaked me out or if it made me just sad. The fries were on the salty side. The corn was super bland. Our daughter seemed to like the popcorn chicken. Service(less than 1 star) — Our server was absolutely awful. We waited so long to get our food and she didn’t bring us water until we were half way done. To top it off, searching for her was harder than finding Waldo. When we were finally successful to find her, we ordered beer, and while seeing how disgustingly dirty our hands were she still asked for ID. Really? That got her some serious eye rolls. She then didn’t bring the beer until we were almost done eating. Apart from that, this place gets crazy packed and a lot of people were getting frustrated while waiting for a table. The seats are pretty close together so you almost feel like you are about to fling a piece of crab on to the next table. Even though the service was terrible, hence the server getting a 1 cent tip(literally), the food wasn’t too bad. Will we go there again? I don’t know. We would need to be in a serious crab, smelly hands and bad breath type of mood.
