When it comes to doctors who specialize in treating children and adolescents, it takes more than knowledge and expertise in the field. One must be able to put them at ease discussing topics that might be described as personal and sensitive: no easy task with any 13-​year old girl. My daughter is generally shy and even reticent, but within a few minutes of talking to Dr. Kumar about her situation (being slightly underweight) she was comfortable and forthcoming. He is kind without being condescending, and there was never a feeling of being rushed or commanding anything less than his full attention (in fact, he spent a full hour with us). His combination of seriousness and humor resonated with her immediately, and she has had no difficulty remembering what he told her and following his advice. I’m so glad we found him.

We highly recommend Dr. Kumar, he is kind, approachable, and extremely knowledgeable about medicine, children’s stresses and needs, and working with families. He was the one name that continued to surface when we asked around for medical help with pharmaceutical needs, and nonetheless we were greatly impressed. The office is helpful, kind and efficient.

Dr. Kumar was a refreshing change from my previous visit to a psychiatrist! Dr. Kumar listened, paid attention, asked helpful questions, and had helpful answers as well. I will be going back to him in the future if I need a psychiatrist.
