I’ve been seeing Dr. Halpert for over a decade and believe him to be the best at what he does.(I am engineer, picky about my doctors.) Years ago he took me through contacts and Wavefront LASIK(via a partnership). More recently he’s set me up with reading glasses due to the presbyopia age brings. Throughout, Dr. Halpert has distinguished himself. He noted a subtle issue from my childhood no other eye doctor had noticed in my adulthood. He saw another small issue, discussed options, and monitored it to ensure it was not a growing concern. His exams seem particularly thorough. Last week I noticed an unusual change(unrelated to the above) and called. He opened up a spot within two hours, told me what he knew, and then told me what he didn’t know. He actually said«I need to research this and get back to you.» It is rare to find a doctor with that level of self confidence. Two days later, after following his interim treatment, he saw me again, and explained the issue, with potential causes, in detail. He had clearly done his homework, and the issue is now resolved. I can back up what others have stated – Dr. Halpert and his staff are savvy about the best ways to save money with vision plans. Their suggestions about when to upgrade, how to upgrade, and whether to change frames have resulted in me having the pairs of glasses I need for various tasks handy without having overspent. One final note. I mention this at the end because it is not really a factor when choosing a doctor. The staff(and Dr. Halpert) are unusually pleasant and upbeat. I’ve never left without a smile.

I’ve been going to Dr. Halpert for years and frankly, he’s one of the few medical professionals I trust is honest with his clients. I visit him at his offices in Agoura Hills– the entire staff here is professional, friendly, and detailed with their explanations. They make sure that you leave with no questions unanswered and will provide you with any information that you request. When I thought there was a possibility that my insurance wasn’t accepted here, I literally stopped going to any optometrist. When my vision started to get a little worse, I did more research and found out that they DO take my new insurance… Woo hoo! I scheduled an appointment right there and then. I have both contacts and glasses and Dr. Halpert made sure to thoroughly check my eyes with both. A few check-ups ago, he mentioned my vision improved slightly, so I could revert back to my old glasses(instead of prescribing something totally different and having me buy a new set). This past time, I inquired about switching my contacts to dailies or weeklies and he mentioned that with my prescription, it would be too costly. I appreciate that Dr. Halpert is honest and efficient with his exams. I trust him in providing thorough care and attention to each of his patients and the staff here is so knowledgable and friendly. If you’re in limbo about choosing an optometrist, I would definitely give Dr. Halpert and his team a try!

What can you say about an OD that could possibly be different form the next OD? There is something to be said about a human being that goes beyond their call or service they are required to perform. I visited this establishment a little over a year and a half ago for your basic run of the mill eye exam. Unlike previous experiences with other Optometrists there was something different about David. He didn’t approach me with the run of the mill questions, instead we shared a good conversation as he thoroughly examined my eyes. It should be noted I did go in to get glasses to assist with distance. Dr Halpert was so thorough with his examination he was able to spot a tear in my retina. My first thought was how many other OD’s missed this? Based on my family’s history of vision he continued to be thorough with his examination to make sure he didn’t miss a thing. After a myriad of insurance issues(not related to this office), I finally received the proper attention and had my retina repaired by another office. Fast forward to just a few weeks ago on my second visit to Dr. Halpert — Again being thorough, David was sure to look for any possible signs of vision problems, even the slightest potential for future problems. He spotted something he didn’t like(AGAIN!). Through a referral he sent me over to an MD for further analysis. There is something to be said about finding a person in their profession who is still in it because of their passion. If you want the find your last OD. Here he is.
