Specialties

Camp Kinneret is a caring community where children have fun, make friends, learn, grow and are inspired to be the best person they can be!

Nestled in the rolling hills of Agoura, we offer campers 4 – 14 a summer of sports, arts and outdoor activities in an environment that’s uniquely suited to encourage their growth. Because here at Camp Kinneret, our campers experience all the fun and friendship of camp life, plus the support of a community that’s committed to providing skills for life. This is the way summer is supposed to be.

We are focused on helping each child grow into his or her best self by combining excellent staff, quality training, small camp groups, and a philosophy that puts campers first. Our focus on relationships and providing children with opportunities to learn, grow and discover themselves is at the heart of the Camp Kinneret philosophy. Our approach to everything we do at camp focuses on creating a warm, welcoming environment in which kids can be themselves without fear of judgment and in which each child belongs. With Archery, a high and low Ropes Course, Rock Wall, Arts & Crafts, Music & Drama, the Wilderness, Ponies and team sports, all campers are able to find their passion. Our child centered philosophy creates a supportive atmosphere where campers develop skills and values to last a lifetime.

We call it a child centered program, the campers call it the best summer ever!

History

Established in 1954.

Founded by Sam and Rochelle Hoffman, Camp Kinneret continues today in the tradition of excellence that they created. Harold Gordon took over ownership in 1982 and under his direction, Camp Kinneret remained committed to its founding principle of putting campers first.

Today, under the ownership of Ryan Rosen, the focus of providing children with opportunities to learn and grow through a well developed, fun, structured program is the foundation for everything that we do and remains at the heart of the Camp Kinneret philosophy. Our special «child centered» (rather than the more common «activity centered») philosophy is the reason that so many campers return year after year and that so many of today’s campers are the children (and grandchildren) of former Camp Kinneret campers and staff members.

With 24 different bus stops along the 101 corridor we have one nearby in Studio City, Encino, Tarzana, West Hills, Woodland Hills, Calabasas, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park.

Business Owner

Personally placing each camper in the correct group; finding, recruiting, interviewing and hiring staff who understand the importance of their work at Camp Kinneret and creating special camp experiences all require extensive time and planning throughout the year. That is why we have a director and office staff who work full time year round on nothing but camp and are always available to parents.

Camp Director Ryan Rosen is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and has years of camp experience dating back to his early days as a junior counselor & lifeguard. After 3 years as the Camp Kinneret Pool Director followed by 3 years as the lead Assistant Camp Director, Ryan spent two summers as co-director of Sunny Skies Day Camp. He returned to Camp Kinneret as a director following the 2007 camp season. Ryan is active in professional camp directing circles, serving on the board of the Western Association of Independent Camps, Friends of Oak Park Schools, and Heschel Day School.
