History
Established in 1998.
Our history begins in 1991 with the opening of the first Mi Cocina. The four original partners: Michael ‘Mico’ Rodriguez, Ray Washburne, Dick Washburne, and Bob McNutt opened Mi Cocina, a modest 12-table restaurant in the Preston Forest neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. From day one, the company focused on serving families the highest-quality ingredients in every recipe complemented with warm familiar service. The result? People lined up outside the door. Success and expansion soon followed. The second Mi Cocina opened in 1993 in Highland Park Village, Dallas, Texas and a Mexican food restaurant star was born.
In 1998, they developed our second Mexican food concept, Taco Diner, emphasizing the bold flavors found in traditional Mexico City Taquerias. Taco Diner presents a lighter approach to authentic Mexican cooking in a bustling, high-energy atmosphere. Our commitment to serving the highest quality food and giving warm, sincere service has never changed.
