John and his guys are the most caring, quick and straight to the point kind of mechanics! They don’t try and tell you something just to get money out of you… High Tech in Addison is the only place I’ll take my car! I can call John and ask about something that doesn’t seem right, and he will give me an answer or he will tell me to get it to the shop and they take my car right away!
It helps that they have the most adorable shop dog to make your visit more entertaining!

Great job. I’ve only recently discovered them, but in the 6 months or so I’ve been using them, the work has been done quickly, with quality parts, and great workmanship. John is willing to go above and beyond to make things easy and understandable.

Outstanding service! Our minivan started smoking under the hood around Rt. 64 and Rt. 53, and I was referred to Hi-​Tech, which was a short drive away. John and the guys (even though they were very busy!) immediately brought the van in, diagnosed a small leak, had a hose delivered within 30 minutes, and we were out the door in about an hour total — and the price was GREAT! No hassle… and amazing, honest, friendly people. We will be back, John!

God bless this owner. These guys are truly unbelievable and one of a kind. I was driving cross state during a typical Chicago Storm when my car started acting funny on the highway… The car kept vibrating and it felt like a tire was going to fall off any second now.
I found this shop randomly on Unilocal.I got off the highway and headed to the shop.
They looked at it immediately because I was in a hurry… I mean they literally dropped what they were doing to check out my car even though the shop was very busy.
My car was in such bad shape that I thought I would have needed over $ 1000 worth of repairs. Turns out I had ice accumulation on my tires and shocks, which was causing the problem.
They told me that this was nothing to worry about and that the problem was rectified itself shortly. They sent me on my merry way and didn’t even charge me. God bless these guys.

I feel bad as this review is a long time coming and this shop deserves the best reviews possible. I HATE dealing with my car because I’m somewhat of a moron and I do the bear minimum to keep my 99 Honda Civic running. With 155,000 miles and going on this car, something is bound to go wrong. That being said, a couple months ago, smoke started emerging from the hood of my car at 8:00 am on northbound 355. No bueno. Got off at Lake St and went to Unilocal to see what was in the area. HiTech had the best reviews and I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Destroyed radiator still smoking, I coasted my car to HiTech. I will sum up my experience with bullet points.
* First 5 minutes the car was inspected and determined that the radiator was indeed shot.
* bit the bullet and ordered the new one
* radiator was ordered and installed in just over an hour
* I was actually charged LESS money because the guys in the back installed the radiator in less time. YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT. I WAS CHARGED LESS MONEY AND HAD GREAT SERVICE.
* I was at work only 2 hours late because these guys worked their ass off for me to get my car fixed.
Let me know where you can find a better scenario. I highly doubt you can. I don’t write many reviews but this shop deserved it. I was actually feeling guilty because it took me so long to do this. That’s how great this place is. I will never take my car anywhere else for major work. Thanks again guys!

I have been going to Hi-​tech since I started driving; and my family has been going even longer! John and his crew are very professional and have a extensive knowledge on all makes and models. Anyone that has asked me for car help I have always sent them to Hi-​Tech and that will never change. I used to live 10 minutes away and now I live over an hour away but still give them all the business I can.

The guys at Hi-​Tech are highly professional and do their best to keep the customer’s cost down. I was very pleased with the cost of the repairs and towing. Very reasonable! The communication and speed of work was the best I have ever experienced in nearly 40 years of driving and repairs.
Honest mechanics combined with quality work makes them my number one pick!

Great guys! They are always very honest.
The first time I came in here it was because one of their sales reps had come to my job with a special on oil changes. I just so happened to need one so I took my car there and they did it really quick. They also did a full diagnostic inspection on my car and let me know a few other services I needed.
I actually already knew I needed the transmission service, but it ended up being less expensive than my dealer had quoted me before, so I got that done and a nail removed and my tire repaired. It was a good thing they found it, or I wouldn’t have known until it was too late!
The next time I came was because my drivers side mirror was missing. They gave me a good price, but I couldn’t quite afford it at the time. I came back a few months later and they honored the price they quoted before.
Most recently, I came back because I thought I had a brake problem due to a squealing sound. Any other place would have just taken me at my word and replaced the brakes to get as much money out of me as they could, but these guys were honest, telling me I still had about 50% life on my brakes and it was something else that could be fixed easily. So I got some other minor work done and I’m satisfied.
Their prices probably aren’t the CHEAPEST around, but you get what you pay for when it comes to cars… and a lot of the time you actually pay a lot more than what you got is worth. But these guys will tell it to you straight and give you the best price they can for the good quality parts and great service they offer.
Though all of my work has been minor, I’ve never had to leave my car overnight here. I love that I can drop my car off, get a ride to work (I work very close by) and by the end of my day, I can pretty much be sure that my car is ready for me.
Plus, they have a really friendly dog, Sonny Boy, who greets me every time I come, so that’s always a bonus!

I have been a Hi-​Tech customer for over 20 years which should tell you something about their level of service. An honest mechanic is a treasure and you can always count on John and his crew to back up their work and treat you with courtesy. They are also honest enough to tell you when it’s time to stop throwing money into a car that is too far past it’s prime. I have referred everyone I know to their shop and will continue to do so.

I have lived in many places and had many mechanics. The guys at Hi-​Tech are wonderful! Helpful, honest, efficient, friendly, and sympathetic. I moved to Berwyn and have had friends tell me, «You should find a mechanic closer to home.» Heck no! A good mechanic is hard to find, one who I can trust completely as a single woman is even harder… Hi-​Tech will get my business as long as I live anywhere in the Chicagoland area.

If you want an honest mechanic look no further than Hi-​Tech! John is great! They are honest and don’t try to add on items that don’t need repair. He will explain each and every repair, and you just know that he isn’t handing you a line of bs. Would recommend Hi-​Tech to anyone. Don’t hesitate taking your car there!

I was referred to John at Hi-​Tech Auto in Addison by my friend whose husband is in the truck repair industry (Great Lakes Auto in Addison). I asked her if he worked with any honest mechanics who do a good job. Right away she told me about John at Hi Tech Auto. I called John for an car inspection and he was able to have me come in as soon as I wanted. I am planning to drive from Chicago to LA so I wanted to have my car checked before making the big drive out there.
When I arrived, a young man got to work right away inspecting my car. While I waited, I was able to see how professional and friendly John was to his customers. While I waited (only 20min) 3 customers came and went and seemed like they had been going to John for years. Now I know why. Once the inspection was finished, John went through everything with me making sure I understood exactly what was going on with my car. The inpection was free (!) and all I need to do is bring it back for a tire alignment and coolant when I am ready to take my road trip to LA. I felt his prices for those future services were very fair. He didn’t pressure me to do anything now and made me feel completely at ease. He even gave me his card in case anything does happen out in LA so he can talk to the mechanic and make sure I don’t get taken advantage of out there. I will DEFINITELY take my car to John at Hi-​Tech Auto from now on. I highly recommend that you do too!
