I’m so torn about how to review this place. The massage was excellent, but the facility and remaining parts of my visit left much to be desired.
So let’s take it from the top: I had a groupon for a one-​hour massage. It was at 2 p.m. the day after my first marathon. I showed up at 1:50 and the lights were all off and the doctor there seemed quite startled to see me. He checked the book and confirmed that I did, in fact, have an appointment at 2. He fumbled with paperwork for five minutes while I waited. I filled it out, and the massage therapist showed up at 2:03 … and still needed to set up.
So the chiropractor gave me a free health assessment. I told him I ran a marathon the day before and was quite sore. He kept urging me to recall any accidents I might have been in in the past or as a child, I’m sure so he could tell me that they were the source of my marathon-​related soreness? He also retold a story that I found mildly offensive and when the phone rang during our consultation, he looked at the called ID, then let it continue to ring as I was forced to talk over it.
Finally, at the ripe hour of 2:30, my gloriously amazing massage began. Sasha started with some reflexology on my feet, which had taken quite a beating. The remaining massage was rather fantastic — the perfect combination of muscle manipulation and soothing relaxation.
What wasn’t great, however, was the fact that the rooms were semi-​private, like at a tanning salon. There were walls and doors, but the walls didn’t reach the ceiling, so I could hear the phone ringing, the chiropractor talking to other patients, people coming and going, etc. Not great for finding my zen.
When it was all over, there wasn’t even a person at the front desk. I just left and lamented that it’s too bad the massage was so great, I’ll miss never coming here again.
