Disappointing that a company of this size has so many issues with customer service. My issues over the last 4 years are too many to list including the latest of my meter not being able to load new money on it for postage, Calling and being told that my meter is no longer eligible to be used and now I have to upgrade. I was upset that no one from FP would have called or emailed to inform me of the issue before my meter ran out. The customer service rep said «I see a note from 2014» where we mentioned it to you and you declined… 2 years ago??? now I am being told that I have to upgrade to a more expensive postage meter, sign a new contract and if I want to take my business to another company they will charge me a early termination fee? Wait. What? There are other postage company options who I hope have better business practices.

Like others who have written, I had no problems with my postage machine. The problem is their customer service dept. They just don’t care. The billing department started to send me statements for additional charges AFTER I told them I was not renewing my contract and AFTER the machine had been returned to them. Hey, anybody can make a mistake, right? I finally reached someone in customer service who said he’d take care of it. But the bills have continued. I’ve written messages and letters to them and the bills continue. Morons.

My postage machine didn’t update with the new postal rates from last week. I tried calling and was on hold forever with customer service. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one with the problem so the wait was understandable. I sent our rep Jennifer an email explaining the situation and within minutes I was speaking with a customer service rep. A couple of more minutes, I was up and running! Excellent customer service! Thank you!

PROBABLY ONE OF THE WORST COMPANIES I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!! Below is a legal letter I had to write to Mike Hannon of FP Mailing because of the TERRIBLE service this company provides:
Due to the fact that you have yet to return a single one of my phone calls or emails over the past several weeks I’m left to assume that my case and account with FP Mailing in now closed due to your silence. I want this email to also be a legal record of my final attempt to reach you. Let me also remind you of the timeline and issues I’ve had with FP over the past few months:
At the end of August I signed with FP to have a My Mail postage meter delivered to my office in Algonquin, IL
Since then I’ve had 3 of those meters changed out due to «internal errors» with the units software.
I was actually without a working meter during this time more than I was with a working meter.
After the 3 meter broke down on me I called FP customer service on October 30^th to let them know I wanted out of my contract since this was not the kind of service I was promised. I was then connect to the Cancellations Department and spoke with Stephanie Martin. She told me FP was having in issues with that type of postage meter and she would upgrade me to a different postage meter, an Optimail 30 meter, for the same price I was paying.
After a couple of days I called back and spoke with Stephanie Martin and asked her why I hadn’t received the new meter yet. She told me it could take up to 2 weeks to receive. I then told her in an email I was at the height of my busy season and can’t wait 2 weeks for a meter to arrive. It was also in this email I told her to cancel the deliver of the new meter, to pick up the broken meter and to cancel my contract. Since that time she stopped emailing me back. I have the email records of me emailing her without any response.
In the meantime I started doing some research online about FP through sites like Unilocal,Better Business Bureau,
and
to name a few. It seems like FP has a disturbing culture of terrible customer service to say the least. Deceptive practices seem to be prevalent within your company. So at this point started to put the pieces together of why I wasn’t getting any kind of response from the Cancellation Dept. at FP.
On November 6^th I spoke to another person in the Cancellation Dept. who told me the ONLY way to solve this issue was to speak with you. She then connected me to your voice mail and I left you my contact information and a brief description of my issue on your voice mail. You never returned that call.
On about November 9^th the Optimail 30 postage meter I told Stephanie Martin to cancel arrive at my office (remember I have documentation telling her not to ship this). To add insult to injury I also received a shipping invoice from FP for the amount of $ 32.33 for the meter.
On November 18^th I drove to the FP offices in Addison and was met with a person by the name of Joe Tram. I had with me both meters, the broken MyMini and the Optimail 30. I told him that no one at FP was returning my emails or calls and that I decided to make the hour drive to return these meters. Joe told me he was in service but that he could receive back the meters for me. He took me back into his office and gave me a signed receipt for the 2 postage meters. Once again, as far as closing my account he told me I would have to speak with you.
On November 19^th I called FP and was lucky enough to get Stephanie Marin on the phone, she of course told me she had no memory of my issue with my meters of FP in general. In fact her demeanor became very cold and short with me when I presented her with the facts including my correspondence with her. I was once again told by her that I would have to have to speak with you and she would give you the message since you were «in a meeting.»
On November 20^th I called you directly and left you yet another voice mail to contact me to resolve this issue. As of today I’m still waiting for your call back.
Finally, yesterday I received an invoice (attached) for $ 462.32 for billing on the Optimail 30 meter which I returned (actually cancelled before it was shipped).
Let me make this crystal clear, I don’t know what that invoice if for but I will not be paying that or for the other shipping bill of $ 32.33 for a meter which I never wanted shipped to me. I also want to make it clear that I no longer have possession of any FP postage meters. Thirdly, I have been without a working postage meter longer than I was with a working meter. This was not the service I was promised, in fact, I believe FP to be responsible for their fraudulent actions (or lack of action). I will still extend to you one final offer to call me to resolve this issue, but if history is an indicator, I’m not holding my breath that will ever happen. I’m also copying my attorney, Joe Agnello, on this email so that he is made fully aware of the facts of this case.”

Would you rather have $ 12 added to your bill every time you reset your postage meter or be charged a finance charge that was hidden? So maybe Research that first! This Company never charges late Fees. You know what your bill is .No Surprises! Customer Care has been Vamped up and Inside Sales have stepped in. But Honestly a lot of your issues can be trouble shoot on their web site when high volume occurs, So this 90 Day Cancellation prior to contract end date before automatic renewal is written so abide. Honor your contract and stop to think how many people you affect before you start yelling and writing reviews. GOD Bless.

BEWARE — THIS COMPANY MAKES MISREPRESENTATIONS TO GET YOUR BUSINESS. If I could give this company zero stars I would. The salesperson represented to me that I could cancel the contract anytime after one year. When I just tried to cancel the contract, I was told that I was obligated for the next 15 months because I did not cancel 90 days before the annual renewal date. Apparently I was supposed to cancel on Christmas Day and it is now the first business day after that date. I was completely shocked that I had to give any notice at all because I have nothing in the documents that I signed that talks about this provision and such provision is obviously completely contrary to the solicitation materials and the representations of the salespeople. In addition, there is no «service» in their customer service. They promise to send things and do not fulfill any of the promises. When I asked for a manager to contact, they said no such persons exist.

Never had an issue with the postage machine we had through another company. Hard to believe that with all these negative reviews people do business with this company… sorta wish my employer would have choose someone else as I am experiencing less that desirable attitudes (I would love to put their names but that would just cause me more drama).
Love the recording «we are currently experiencing high call volume»…yea, with all the negative comments I find it hard to believe that they have that many customers. Was just told that «I have to be patient and that it could take a day for my problem to be fixed». Okay, well they need to explain that to my boss and why I cannot load something as simple as postage onto the machine… very poor customer service.

Never had an issue with our PostBase machine, but the customer service leaves something to be desired. When we ran out of ink this week with a stack of mail to send out, I called to see if I could come by their office and pick up some cartridges. I was informed in a deadpan, unapologetic tone that the warehouse was closed and I would not be able to pick up the cartridges until tomorrow morning. This was repeated to me while explaining our urgent situation. I would understand if I was ordering a whole pallet of something but we are talking about TWO ink cartridges no bigger than the palm of your hand.
I work in distribution, and if a customer needs some items in a rush, we’ll pick them. Yes, EVEN IF THE WAREHOUSE IS CLOSED.
So here I am, furiously rushing to CVS to overpay for forever stamps so we can mail our invoices on time. Thanks a lot, FP. You left me up a creek without a paddle today.

Currently on hold with FP, our postage meter hasn’t worked for about 3 months now. Everytime it stops working I call in and sit on hold for up to an hour and a half because they are ALWAYS «experiencing high call volume». I understand there isn’t anything they can do about that. But they surely could send us a machine that works! They sent us a new machine, and again, we get error codes and the machine doesn’t work. We’re paying for the service to use the machine, and we have $ 200 of postage sitting on the machine right now that we can’t use except for once in a blue moon. So of course, we would like to just return the machine and continue on with our happy lives.
Here’s the catch though, they have these tricky tricky contracts where you CAN’T return it and you HAVE to keep up your contract. Customer service said, and I quote, «according to our terms of service, we can send you a new machine (this would be our second new machine) but you can’t cancel your contract.»
So after being transferred to 4 different people and being laughed at by the final for being so frustrated with their crappy service and crappy postage meters, we are stuck with the damn machine and con worthy contract. Thank god I checked the reviews, because at least we won’t be scammed into their «but you have to cancel 90 days prior to the contract being up or it auto renews» thing.

Seriously, you’re more likely to get out of a contract with the devil, and at least then you would know to expect to be screwed.

Quite possibly the WORST experience I’ve ever had with any company in any industry. I signed a 12 month agreement for a postage meter which I set up with no issues. I had a couple of technical issues over the next few months, but found their customer service to be adequate and fixed my issues right away.
When I returned the postage meter is when everything came unraveled. After my experience with them, I am stunned as to why the federal government can consider this company an authorized postage provider with what I consider deceptive practices.
Here is my experience:
I called prior to the end of the 12 months and said I wanted to return it. The person I talked to said there was a 90 day period prior to the end of the 12 months otherwise it would auto-​renew for another 12 months.
I pulled out my contract and said, nope. Thats not on my contract, I’m looking right at it. It says «Term of Contract: 12 months». NOTHING about an auto-​renewal. They sent me instructions on sending it back which I did. Then we get a bill for 12 more months of payments because we didn’t cancel prior to the 90 days. I called back and said again, I’m looking at my Contract we signed and nothing on it says there is an auto-​renewal. This is when customer service got really NASTY. Oh my gawd, the way these people starting talking to me, and even one of the managers was so nasty, condescending, yelling… every description you can think of talking down to you are the tactics they used.
Apparently, on my contract there is a little box that is checked that we looked at the terms and conditions online. Because we checked the box, thats where the lovely auto-​renewal was. ONLINE. BURIED on Page 5 of a 6 page terms and conditions that you have to go online to go see!!! Are you kidding me!?! We’ve signed contracts before with an auto-​renewal, and it is ON. YOUR. SIGNED. CONTRACT. I argued back and forth through the Better Business Bureau and even with a manager at FP who got nastier and nastier.
After my experience and seeing other similar reviews, I am extremely suspicious as to how they have such a high rating with the Better Business Bureau. Why do they have an A+ rating with so many complaints?!? The BBB says it sets «high ethical standards for business conduct.» If you read their business partner code of conduct standards, they talk about «trust» and «integrity».
In my opinion, not being up front on a contract about an auto-​renewal and putting it on page 5 of a terms and conditions you need to go online to see does not meet the BBB’s «high ethical standards». If there was an auto-​renewal, why not put it on the signed contract like other companies do? I have my suspicions why…

Every aspect of the company is absolutely terrible; the awful products that do not work, the horrendous customer service who try to blame the customer for everything, not to mention what seems to be the most sleazy way of doing business by deceiving the customer every step of the way.
I filed a complaint with the BBB, and now after reading all of the Unilocal reviews as well as the 60+ complaints already filed on the BBB, I fail to understand how this company is still in business. Giving this company a one star rating is about five stars too many.
Similar to every other review on here, below is my BBB complaint:
In May 2014 we agreed to a proposal for a one year term for the MyMail Max machine. After issues with delivery and having to pay delivery fees twice, we finally received our machine in July 2014. Upon receipt of that machine, we discovered that we had not been provided with any cables, power cords, ink, etc. in order to use the machine. After contacting customer service, they told us they would mail these things to us. We didn’t get anything from them until late October 2014, and what we did receive was only one cable that wasn’t compatible with our machine. Because of these long delays, in the interim, we found a new company to use for our mail and postage needs. When we received a bill in September, we contacted customer service and spoke with Dave Hanson. I told Dave that we would not pay for a product that we can not use and that we would like to cancel our business. I was yelled at, told it was our fault for «being on vacation» (our office works non­traditional hours and no one was here to sign for the machine on first delivery), and told that we had entered into a binding one year contract. I asked Dave to send a copy of said contract, which to this day (2÷4÷2015) I have yet to receive. During this phone call, I also learned that the machine we had received was not even compatible with our office and wouldn’t even work had we gotten all the power cords and cables needed. The brochure for the machine states that it works on an analog phone line (which we don’t have) or through the internet (which we do have). Dave informed me that the machine only runs on Windows operating systems, however, our office runs entirely on Macs. Dave continued to say that we can’t cancel our service, but that he would look into a newer machine that would work on our systems and get back to me. Having not received a single call/​e­mail/​fax back from Dave, when I received another bill from December 3, 2014, I was shocked and called back and asked to speak directly to Dave’s supervisor, Mike Hannon. I left a message for Mike and never received a return phone call until Dave called back on January 19, 2015. Being that I was out of town on business, not vacation mind you, I didn’t return Dave’s phone call until February 4, 2015. At this time, Dave was again extremely rude and condescending. He began stating that it was our fault that we can’t use our machine, that the contract states that the machine has to have an analog phone line (to reiterate, I don’t have a copy of any contract which I am not sure even exists since they won’t forward a copy, and the brochure for the machine states the postage downloads require analog phone line OR internet but do not specify the internet must be on a Windows OS). After about 5 minutes of back and forth banter, Dave told me that his supervisor, Mike, agreed to split the difference with what we owe and let us out of our contract. I explained that they have breached their side of the contract by not providing to us the product and service we agreed to, and as such, we will not pay them anything. I asked to speak to Mike, and after much refusal, I was finally transferred to his voicemail. Had I known what I was getting into with the combination of a bad product and the worst customer service I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing, I would never had used this company in the first place. After reading multiple BBB complaints describing very similar issues, it appears that this is just a company with terrible business practices and I can relate to the frustration of every person who has made a complaint before me.

The customer service with this company is absolutely terrible. It took over 2 months for me to get a working meter and they still tried charging me for it while it wasn’t working.

Do NOT use FP Mailing.
Terrible customer service with terrible system to store customer activity. They will also constantly accuse you of losing meters and not returning them. They lock accounts without warning delaying business operations

BUYER BEWARE!!! FP requires 90 days before ea 12 mo auto renew to cancel your acct. Do you know what your business needs are 90 days out? Did you read all of your terms for all your products and know them all 24 months ago

How do I give 0 stars?! Be very careful if you decide to engage with this company. If you choose to lease a meter from them, there is a statement in the contract (written in about 6 point type) that states that a cancellation must be received 90 days before the contract term ends. If the cancellation is not received 90 days in advance, the contract automatically renews for an additional year. I had given a verbal cancellation notice to them nearly 4 months in advance, they refused to honor it. This is not proper. This is not good business. I am now on the hook for an additional year on a machine that I don’t want. Their website promises excellent customer service, empowerment of employees, yada, yada, yada. I experienced none of it.
