It’s a hole in the wall but service is super sweet and friendly and they offer so many kinds of refreshing or fruit filled snacks. I walked in not knowing what to expect and was kind of overwhelmed with all the possibilities to order. So I chatted with the lady behind the counter who told me she owns the place with their husband and took over ownership pretty recently. She was so nice and I just asked her what their top sellers are. After she ran down the list, I opted for their mango something or other. Which is basically fresh mango, fresh mango pulp, and a spicy sweet tamarind-like spice they mix in. It was really really good! I opted for the small size and it was still too much for me and I would have loved more fresh mango over the mango pulp. Like I said, there is so much to choose from and I have my eye on the slices of fresh jicama with the sweet spice the owner said she mixes on her own. There were also many different juices and mixed juice blends available. And their elotes – that sounded so good too. This place just made me think of good street food, just all available in one location.

6÷22÷2015 SADLYTHISPLACEHASCLOSED! *************************************** This place has been under new management so everything was redone. My BF and I would come here after feeling guilty binging on fast food and ice cream and were craving«healthy alternatives». I usually got the carrot/celery/cilantro/lemon juice and he usually got that with some elote(hey it’s not healthy but we can’t help it!). They sell Mexican themed snacks here(i.e. said elote) and also juices among other things. It seems family owned since I always see the same couple there. There is one younger girl that is on the quiet side when she works but it could just be a language barrier. I love this place because I was able to get a choice of 25 – 26 different mixed smoothies or juices along with Mexican candy and fruit snacks(i.e. sliced cucumber and jamaica). That is SO hard to find in the suburbs. So that made this place an extra special gem. The price for the drinks is what you would pay for a Naked smoothie at Target but it tastes a lot better. This place is good for a pick me up when you’re next door to it being overwhelmed with dirty clothes at the laundrymat. The guy that owns this place is also SUPER nice and has a lot of information on healthy drinking and what benefits what ailment etc.

Customer service needs MAJOOOOR improvement! Not a hello, not a good bye, not even acknowledged the fact I walked into their business. I am a huuge sweets fan and would have loved to not get so upset after being completely ignored. But I cannot help but tell everyone I know about my horrible experience. I hope they use this comment as constructive criticism and work on their costumer service because I hear good things about their desserts. PS: this is the first review I have ever done. Therefore this is how much this bugged me.

I discovered El Frutazo by chance one day and to my surprise it was awsome. Everything was fresh and home made. I had never experienced the authentic Raspado(snow cone) i was used to the colored sugar water as a kid. This was all natural and the flavors seemed endless. They also had various fresh made cakes and fruit parfaits that looked delicious. Since my first visit I try to stop there at least once per week to sample the other great offerings… Elotes. Fresh fruit smoothies. and my new favorite Bionicos, fresh fruit topped with sweet cream and granola… keep it healthy and fresh!

Lake-Mill Plaza is home to Caputo’s, so we visit this strip mall quite a lot. Not long ago, we spotted El Frutazo opening, and we’re both big fans of frozen treats, so without really knowing 100% what we were in for, we stopped in on a VERY warm Saturday afternoon. I am under the impression that this is a family-run business without a lot of money to pour into it, because it was stinking HOT in there. Hotter than outside, these poor folks didn’t seem to have even a fan. When you’re selling delicious frozen treats, your shop should probably be under 80 degrees if at all possible. But I digress. This is essentially a sno-cone/elotes cart in a storefront. They have Mexican sno-cones made with fresh shaved ice and real fruit syrups, everything from strawberry to pineapple to jamaica, plus elotes, fruit salad and some other tasty-looking treats. We got strawberry and pineapple and the fruit was super-fresh and really good. Unfortunately as tends to be the case with sno-cones the ice all got melted and clumped together and I tossed a big chunk of just-ice out at the end after I’d fished my strawberries out. But this is an essential failing of sno-cones and not their fault. The shop itself is pretty minimalistic right now, with TVs showing univision and a few chairs. I hope they’ll add more tables and at least put a few fans in. The people behind the counter were friendly, but I think they cater more to the Latino families that tend to congregate in this area. Still, I’d come back for some fruity frozen goodness, especially if there were some air moving in there…
