Corky’s Catering

First time using these folks and found several areas requiring improvement:
— Catering coordinator was not prepared on day of event (125 people). Layout of venue was provided, but she was attempting to organize tables/​seating/​serving stations at the last minute.
— Guests were arriving and the catering coordinator and staff were arguing.
— Food was just so-​so. Served warm, but got cold quickly since chaffing dishes were not maintained.
— Pricing was very high. You need to really push these people to get them to provide better pricing. They only relent after you threaten to go to another caterer.
— Catering coordinator seems to stall early on in the planning process. Took almost 2 weeks to get an initial proposal.
— Overall the service staff was good, which is what earned the 2 stars. Go elsewhere if you have other choices.

Had the opportunity to use their service two times in one week. Both orders were placed on short notice. I could not be more pleased with this company. From the person taking the order to the delivery of food, I was extremely pleased. The orders were received on time and complete. And by the way the food was excellent!

We had a wedding last week and Corky’s did our catering. The food was excellent! We did a buffet style and everyone loved it. I have been to many weddings and usually the food is not on the top of the lists of compliments, but this time it was. The way they did the buffet was very organized one of the employees would go table to table to have people come up so they did not have to wait in line. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was kept well stocked and there was more than enough. We also had two bartenders that were very friendly and made sure that my groom and I had drinks. There was one time when I went up there and didn’t know what to order so they made me a drink, and I don’t remember what was in it but it was very good! The event planner was great the whole time leading up to the wedding. She kept in contact with me and made sure all of my needs were met. Great service, excellent food, and a decent price. I would recommend Corky’s to anyone who is planning an event and needs a caterer.

We had a large party at our home 10−03−15 for 80 guests.
We were very happy with the food.

This review is only in regards to their lack of communication. I emailed them via their online contact us now feature. I received a response back about 3 days later asking some questions. I responded with details about what I am looking for. my budget, the amount of people. No response, nothing, total radio silence. It has been over a week. I think I will be moving on.

David Hicks and the fools he hired to run my party have zero professionalism, treat customers poorly, and are first class liars.
Going to keep it brief, as I really don’t want to waste any more breath on these morons:

They threw away ALL of my leftovers then gave me a BS excuse that it is standard for them to throw away leftovers. Excuse me, what? I spend hundreds of dollars on food and you are trying to convince me its standard practice to toss food? That should have been my choice.
When the head gal saw how upset I was, she went into «cover her butt» mode and reported back to her boss that there were hardly any leftovers anyways. David Hicks chose to believe her, not me. Really? Am I really getting this angry over table scraps? I think not.
Many things went wrong on their end during my party. One thing particularly upset me:
They broke my brand new chocolate fountain. As they were running it, I saw it didn’t look right. So instead of emptying it out to see the problem, they went ahead and melted two more bags ($ 25 each) of the special fountain chocolate, then added it to the machine. So now there are 4 bags of melted chocolate in a non working fountain that’s meant to hold only two bags.
It’s special chocolate that doesn’t need anything added but I know that dummy added oil or milk or something. That’s probably why the machine broke. Of course when I brought that up no one fessed up. Liars!
David sent me an email stating I would get reimbursed for certain things that went wrong. I’m still waiting for that refund today. But I’m no fool. That refund is never going to show up.
RUN RUN RUN AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE BUSINESS!

I’ve not had their food, but I’m rating them on service.
I was referred several times to Corky’s because they were a supposedly affordable option.
In the course of a couple of weeks, I was shuffled around to 3 different sales people, who asked me all the same questions and it was like starting from scratch with 3 separate catering companies. Each one was more clueless than the last!
They couldn’t answer simple questions or explain why their pricing was structured in some very weird ways (family style starting at $ 120 pp when buffet starts at a third of that… doesn’t make a whole lot of sense). I’ve worked in the food industry and have done some catering myself, and so I know when prices are gorged, and when there’s no explanation for why costs are disproportionate, that’s a good clue.
If you do decide to work with corky’s, they were insistent that they «Work with any budget» but would then give me strong ranges, like «blah buffet service starts at minimum 40pp» so if i were you i would negotiate the crap out of them since it’s clear they don’t have transparent pricing structures anyways.

I had Corky’s cater for my wedding. It was a buffet style with beef, chicken, mostaccioli, corn & potato wedges. Everyone loved the food. I even got a compliment from someone who went to a wedding in the Willis Tower the weekend before, they said that our food was better than theirs.
The only thing that bothered me, was that I had A LOT of food left over, almost half. I told the catering company that my count went down about 50 people, but they insisted that I kept the count at 150 people instead of 100. This caused me to have a ton of food left over & having to divide it up among families at the end of the wedding. Wish they would have calculated better, especially since my biggest cost was the food.

Finding catering for my wedding has been a nightmare. I am so glad I came across Corky’s! The prices are very reasonable and the food at our tasting was fantastic! I hope that everything is the same for the wedding!
So far so good!

I’ve ordered from Corky’s several times and they literally deliver all over the city! They show up on time and the food is delicious. They have breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner options. Great for picnics, meetings, family reunions etc because they do all the cooking! They even give you utensils, plates, napkins and warmers. Set up is easy, just take the food out of boxes and set up as you’d like.

It’s traditional to have a corned beef and cabbage lunch on St Pat’s for our office. Corky’s is easy to work with, reasonably priced, tasty food and generous portions. We are always happy with the food and service they provide.
Their potato salad and fried chicken are office favorites.

Corky’s caters the kind of food that you can’t eat everyday, but then again why would you want to eat a holiday spread everyday, right? It’s good enough to make you wish you could. The turkey separates from the bone like it was cut with a high powered laser! The sides — mashed potatos, green beans, macoroni and cheese are fit for a king!
The staff is courteous, responsive, and very organized.
Corky’s delivers to my job every holiday and when it’s lunch time the employees say,“It’s time to get Corky’s!” ;)

I had them cater 2 parties for me this weekend. I had the best experience. They delivered the food but I chose not to pay the $ 40 set up fee and do it myself. The delivery drivers (a different one on each day) were so helpful in telling me how to set it up. I highly recommend the chicken quesadillas if you like spicy. For the dinner I purchased a variety of chicken, sausage, pasta and beef. I was excited for the beef but Italian sausage was the best I ever had. It was so juicy still the next day even in the microwave. I would pass on the pasta next time but everything else was so much better than expected after reading other reviews!!!

I attended a birthday party for my niece’s daughter Saturday and of course, was skeptical when I saw they had it catered. Boy was I wrong — Corky’s had the best chicken I’ve had from a catering company in a very long time. It was tender and juicy and not dried out how most catering places chicken is. Their mostaccioli had a little bit too much sauce but was still very good. I would recommend these guys any day!

The company I work for had a corporate picnic last weekend and we decided to use Corky’s for our event. Everything was great! Jennifer was very helpful and easy to work with, extremely responsive, cooperative and flexible. They arranged for and handled pretty much everything — food, tents, seating, a moonbounce, games coordinators, porta-​potties, everything (some of which through outside vendors, but nonetheless…) and took a lot of the stress of planning off of us.
They were extremely professional and punctual. I was impressed with the efficient way they set everything up and the courteousness and professionalism of the staff. The servers were great, the bartenders were great, and everyone was very friendly and eager to make us happy.
We ordered a whole pig as the main attraction as well as some of your more basic picnic items — hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, etc. The pig was fantastic and a huge hit, and the signature orange sauce they brought was delicious. My only complaint in that area is that the tray of back-​up pork they brought was already coated in BBQ sauce, which not everyone likes. And even for a BBQ sauce lover like myself, I thought it was a bit too smothered. I also thought the hamburgers were a bit sub-​par but the potato salad was absolutely delicious and I heard the coleslaw was good. They also brought an ice cream cart but it seemed to me that some of the ice cream wasn’t very fresh… regardless, the kids loved it. So overall I’d say the food wasn’t unbelievably amazing but definitely good enough for a picnic.
We had one minor snafu in that the staff was planning on leaving half an hour earlier than what it said in the contract. But after taking a second look at the contract, they agreed to stay the full time with no complaint, so it wasn’t that big of a deal aside from causing a little confusion. In the future I’d probably make sure, going into it, that things were more clear regarding timing — exactly what time the food would be broken down, what time the bar would be broken down, etc.
So, overall we were quite pleased and we will probably be using them again for our corporate picnic next summer.

Amazing is all i can say… I own an entertainment business and i work with tons of caterers especially for high end events such as Weddings and I cant say enough about the staff and especially P.J. over at Corky’s. We worked together on a VERY stressful event just recently and the way they conducted themselves, i mean they were practically insulted by the venue staff and kept their cool. The food was terrific and service along with professioinalism was outstanding. If looking for a caterer, i would definitely check them out. As I work with tons of caterers, this is definitely on the top 3!

In our search for a wedding caterer, we were given a list by the venue of a few different places. After making appointments with several of these places, and having a food tasting, my parents decided to pick Corky’s Catering. I was a little skeptical about this company, because I had my sights set on a company that worked with local food, which was important to me. But, my parents were paying for the food, so they had a big say in the matter.
My first experience with the company was when they had an open house at our venue so we could come and taste the food. It was wonderful! The appetizers were cooked just right, delicious, and beautiful. Then… we found out that all the food on display was from Cork’s catering, the sister company, not CorkY’s catering. I was really disappointed because I had no idea what the food was going to taste like at our wedding (my parents went to the original tasting without me)!
We had a final meeting with Jennifer (very nice and easy to work with) about a week before the wedding to determine linen colors (I honestly didn’t really care what color they were), table placements, head count, etc. I’m an easy going person but at the same time, I’m a little bit of a control-​freak, so it was hard for me to let someone else handle everything!
Fortunately, I was really impressed at how they managed to set everything up at the wedding! The centerpieces were just how I wanted them, the buffet table looked great, the staff was great, and the bartender was a hit (open bar)! Our menu was: butternut squash ravioli, Italian beef, lemon herb chicken, roasted red potatoes, roasted vegetables (or something like that), a garden salad, and some bread. Everyone raved about the butternut squash ravioli, veggies, and potatoes. People also said the chicken was excellent. The only complaint that we had about the food was the Italian beef was really hard to cut and not good at all.
One other thing: if you’re a catering company, PLEASE make sure the couple has cut the cake before you start serving it! We came in after a mid-​dinner photo shoot and saw the cake slices on the table, and people eating some of it before we even had a chance to do our cake-​cutting!!! I was upset about this! Who serves the cake before the couple cuts it?! By the time we cut it, half the guests were already eating cake and it just felt rushed and forced.
Other than that little snafu, we were overall pleased with this company!

Had a family reunion for 90 people over the Labor Day weekend and used Corky’s for a full service BBQ. Served dogs, burgers, chicken and all the sides. Everything was delicious, service was great, timely, did their best to accommodate all our needs and changes right up to the day of the event. I would easily use them again for a party!

We’ve been having catering from Corky’s for ever since I was a little boy. Every New Years, there was Corky’s at the rescue. They are VERY consistent, always on time for delivery, super helpful, and make ordering a breeze. The food is tasty, not drop-​dead-​blow-​off-​your-​socks amazing, but good food nonetheless.
When you order food for 60 people, they give you enough for at least 100! Good value for your money for sure.

Just ok.
We hired a bartender and server for a 50 person party. They were nice but one had to leave for 20 minutes to «feed the meter». The invoice they sent ahead of the party listed the order for 1 bartender and 1 server from 7 – 12, however they left at 11.
Apparently there is an internal policy they do not share with their clients that states that the client pays for one half hour of commute time to and from the city.
I wish that somewhere in their Estimated Summary of Costs or Catering Contract it was mentioned.
It seems unrealistic for your client to be familiar with internal policy or expect something besides ‘Blank employee from 7 – 12′ when it seems pretty straightforward.
If I have to pay for the commute from the suburbs and «feed the meter» time then I will just hire from inside the city next time.
