Anime Pop

What a great store, just visited the new location and was amazed by the selection of Bandai robot kits. Pricing seems very aggressive or compared to Amazon. The store manager helped me a lot and They have a great selection of books and DVDs to. The only thing I wish they had was more robot action figures LOL.

I could spend all day here. They have a wide variety on animé products. The pricing is pretty decent. They have sailor moon stuff which is part of my aww in walking in lol. It’s hard to come by most of the time. Definitely will be back.

As a hardcore raging otaku, I will basically hunt down animé stores. While on my search I noticed a little store, aka animé pop. It is definitely a lot smaller than I expected but it wasn’t so small I couldn’t move around aisles in half a step. The majority of things they had were figurines… Lots and lots of figurines. They were a lot cheaper than those at a convention but then again, most are. They also had little doo-​dads here and there like key chains, puzzles, a little section for t shirts, food (yes food, like pocky and such), and stuff like that. It was definitely an interesting experience, and I may visit there a bit more just in case they update their stock. :)

HIGHLY recommend! Very clean, good music that isn’t blaring extremely loud, tons of manga and quite a buy of animé to buy. The guy working there was extremely friendly and quirky. Knowledgable and helpful. They have tons of animé figures, keychains, plushes, cups/​glasses, phone cases, blind boxes, cell phone straps and chibi figures. Some stuff can be pricey but some stuff is a real steal! Absolutely love it. A must for any animé fans in Dallas. Will go again and again! Only downside is most of the things they sell can be found $ 20-​$ 40 cheaper on Amazon and Ebay, price check before you go in :)

I visit AnimePop about two months ago with friends, this place was awesome. I saw a lot of Sailor Moon items I’d definitely go back to buy, there were a lot of other neat things like Pokemon, and Dragon Ball Z. It is a little bit pricey but I believe it’s worth it.

I’m not going to pretend to be any kind of authority on Animé or the products surrounding the culture. While I enjoyed many shows from Japan when I was younger, we didn’t even have the word «animé» at the time. They were just cartoons like any other to us. Star Blazers could sit right alongside Inspector Gadget and there was no distinction.
Now though, there is a whole subculture based around animé and the collection of products designed to appeal to those who enjoy it. If you find yourself in need of some animé gear or a collectible, you can likely find it at Animé Pop in Addison, TX.
It’s a pretty long drive for us as we live in Fort Worth. But once or twice a year my daughter asks me to take her over to Animé Pop. Usually on her birthday. And she always has a good time with it. She always finds a bunch of good stuff that she wants. And it always costs me a bunch of money, but I can’t complain about that. Heaven knows that when I find western comics collectibles that I want I buy them, so I don’t mind doing the same when she finds animé goodies she’d like to have.
This is a good store with helpful courteous staff who are happy to talk about what they have, what’s coming, and the animé culture. They are always eager to approach customers and help out. And they recently moved a few blocks up the street to a bigger location, so there’s even more stuff you’re likely to want to buy.

Neato! Have been visiting this shop since they were stuck in the corner down the way a bit. Always friendly and helpful staff, but new storefront directly on Beltline is so much better, newer, cleaner, and has more inventory.
Neither my husband or I are really into animé; however, after a stint in Tokyo are infatuated (that would be a word I would use to describe my husband’s feelings; I’m more just re
interested) with Japenese stuff.
Animé Pop has a great assortment of items including collectible figurines and cards, graphic Ts, videos and games, of course comics, and even some imported edible treats that can’t be found many other places. Something for everyone!
So, when we’re in Addison, we enjoy stopping by to see what’s new… and it’s a great time to allow the hubster to geek out for a bit with the employees. He especially loves to tell them «in passing» he IS the voice over guy on the Japanese version of the video game Guilty Gear Izuka. ;) True story — when we were in Tokyo he was invited and paid 200 American bucks to go into the studio for a couple of hours. By far one of the geekdom highlights of his life — he would have paid them! «Are you reeeaady?! 1, 2, 3… let’s fight!» (#humblebrag) LOL!
Overall great store. Yes, prices can be rather high… but hey… it’s a small specialty niche, most people are willing to pay, and AP can sometimes find items that are impossible otherwise.
Don’t forget to recipricate the Vulcan waive as you leave the store. Live long and prosper…

If your looking for dvds 5 stars but on blur rays I’d give it a 2 star so overall a 3. The blue rays were very pricy. They did have an awesome collection of animé collectables. however their price is high. Overall you want a great selection of animé memorabilia and money isn’t an issue then this is your place.

Animé Pop in Addison is the areas #1 Animé and Japanese Pop Culture store. Their new location is awesome, leagues better than the old one that was around the corner. Dual projectors show movies or episodes on the wall as you shop this boutique business.
The selection here is unique and diverse, includes magazines, books, manga, dvd’s, figurines, apparel, wall-​art, keychains, phone cases, toys and even Japanese candies and sodas. The owner here normally looks busy, determined or upset, but he is kind. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, they know exactly what is in the store.
The reason for me to give this place 5 stars out of 4 is the pricing. Nearly everything in this store can be found cheaper on amazon or ebay. To me, I do not mind paying a little more to have it «today» and also to support a local business owner, but in some cases a DVD at Animé Pop was $ 34.99 and the same one was $ 19.99 on Amazon. It’s not just a little more: its a LOT more in many cases.
Despite this, you wont find a cleaner or more organized store, and even just looking around at all of the rare and odd foreign items is a treat for the eyes. Well worth a visit, and I will continue to give them my business.

Neat and Clean with a clever touch of modern. A weeaboos dream hangout… *RECORD SCRATCHES* hangout?! What hangout? There is no place to chillax here. Just buy and bah bye. Not a place for weeaboos or otakus, but more of a place for pretentious pedantic hipsters to spend money on very over-​priced plastic statues.

While on vacation in Dallas I decided to stop in here because there aren’t any stores like this in my area. If I want animé related goods I have to order them online.
The store is small, but packed with stuff. Lot of figures, a decent selection of posters and wall scrolls, phone charms, keychains, manga, animé dvds, Japanese snacks, and magazines. Basically lots of stuff for animé and manga fans.
If you live in the area I recommend checking here before purchasing any animé related stuff online. It might be cheaper here, especially since a lot of this kind of stuff has to be imported.

Most definitely a mini-​mecca for me. I honestly just checked online for a place where I could possibly find some Gundam Model kits while I was in town and found much more. The employees are great. One of the guys and I chopped it up for while and helped me with some suggestions on shows to check out. I walked out with more than I intended on buying, but I’m still happy with all of my purchases (Including a bunch of japanese snacks). They have a web store, but I’ll definitely be swinging by here again next time I’m in Dallas anyway.
Side note: It’s a small store front and almost hidden behind the surrounding stores, so GPS helps.

Super cute little store with all sorts of things. Most of the store is figurines and collectibles, but they also have your typical animes, posters, and mangas. There were also several other things, but I didn’t know what they were (haha). I’m not a huge fan of this genre, but I thought this store would be a neat place to check out. I also saw a lot of Attack on Titan gear near the front of the store. Super cool, and prices were on par with online prices, minus the shipping and wait time. Was very impressed with the selection of mangas as well.
The employees are extremely friendly and willing to help. They’re also very knowledgeable about the items that they sell and what they show/​game represent. I loved how there were hundreds of key chains and phone charms. Will be back to pick up some cute key chains.
On a side note, I saw a flyer stating that they were going to move locations sometime this summer. So if you have a hard time finding this location, no worries. They’re going to move to the complex behind them so that you can see the store better from Belt Line. Definitely a great move; hope they have more items to display the next time I come to visit the new location.

they seemed to never have taken the rental wall down, i think this was for the better. because their purchases are pretty pricey, visiting with a figure in mind and paying that figure to rent any animé on the wall will keep loyal customers returning.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I did not even know that an animé shop existed in the DFW area until last week. There were tons of DVDs, posters, wall scrolls, and figurines in here! It was expensive though ($ 20 for a poster, eek!), but totally understandable because they import stuff from Japan. We were not greeted immediately by the cashier but she hunted us down about 5 minutes later and apologized for not doing so earlier. She also said that she would be more than happy to answer any questions we had. I was totally impressed by this great customer service.
I have no idea why, but some of their DVDs were in bad condition. The plastic on the outside of the cases were torn and peeling away. Only some of them were that way though (the YuYu Hakusho ones in particular). They have tons of box sets from Clannad+AS (watch this people, please!!) to Ano Natsu de Matteru to Oreimo. It was standard price, what you would expect to pay for online. This place has a lot of Madoka Magica stuff. I think they have a soul gem in the display case! It was SO cool looking in real life! I wanted it but it cost too much for me! They have green tea kitkat too! I wish I knew that before ($ 10)! I wasted money having it shipped from Japan for $ 13 only for it to completely melt by the time it got here.
I overheard the cashier saying that if you wanted something, you could tell them and they would try to see if they could get it for you, which was totally cool of them to do in my opinion. I ended up getting 2 keychains for $ 11 and I looked on the back and what do you know? They actually do sell authentic stuff from Japan, no lie, it said on the back of the Kuroko no Basuke button package: made in Japan, for sale in Japan only.
The cashier is a little inattentive or maybe she thinks you’re looking at stuff on the back wall so you have to get her attention at the register and she’ll check you out. I felt totally comfortable here and will be back again!

Tons and tons and tons of anima, manga, figurines, models, toys, etc. But that’s about it. There is a handful of transformers/​gundam stuff that I like, everything else is a little out there. It wouldn’t be fair to give a rating based on them selling things I’m not into, but the reason I go with 3 stars is because the things they do sell that I’m into seem to be a little over priced. The staff is great though, very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for something specific in this space they either have it or they can get it for you. Stop by and check it out but don’t go too far out of your way to make it over here.

Been years since I’ve visited Animé Pop, so I thought it was time to drag my man to visit one of my old haunts to witness my erstwhile (secretly spendy) animé passion.
Maybe it’s because I’m older, wiser, and better acquainted with my checkbook that I didn’t grab the first manga, dvd/​bluray or action figure/​collectible that tempted me. (Then again it may have been because I’ve been saddled with managing several bills and financial obligations over the years.) But I have to say that Animé Pop’s recent location (not so obscured now by the gas station facing Belt Line) did a great job with the layout and merchandising. It didn’t feel as seedy or cluttered as I last remembered it; display cases were dusted clean and fingerprint-​free, books and manga were organized and pristine, toy and model boxes were in good-​to-​mint shape, and the vast rental dvd selection was alphabetized and well-​protected. I felt compelled to buy something, even though it may have been a box of Pocky Sticks or a keychain.
Most of their products are imported, and this fact is reflected in the astonishing sticker prices. But mind you, it’s not often I visit an animé convention or travel to places where animé products are easy to come by; Animé Pop has outlasted most competitors that have tried to break into the DFW market, and I’m thankful for their staying power.
My recent visit at AP has reawakened fond memories of my animé hunting days; I now have to go home and dig out my action figures and dvds and see where I left off and what holes need filling in my collection.

The prices are pretty high to be honest but they have a lot of interesting things that you pretty much cannot find anywhere else locally! Their stuff is all from Japan they say. And all I have to say is, I found GREEN TEA FLAVORED KITKATS here. I have never ever ever ever seen them anywhere else. They also have drinks and other snacks that are actually not easy to find in a regular Asian market. It is not a big location nor is it in the middle of downtown or uptown but if you are just driving by and extremely bored then hehehehe, no offense to anyone!

I ordered like…7 mangas at once from this store. Hoped I would get a discount. WRONG. How disappointing! I am a huge otaku… like seriously, I own more than 100 animé titles/​mangas. I go to cons. I cosplay. I want to support this store but I just can’t get behind it. Don’t charge me full price when I’m dropping nearly $ 100 at your store! Gimme something – freebies, promos, ANYTHING!
I just can’t rationalize shelling out so much money when I can get just about everything in their inventory for cheaper online.

Cool and cute little place TOTALLY hidden behind a Shell gas station.
Lots of merchandise displayed beautifully and a knowledgeable, sweet manager (also named Jen) to help you find things.
Yeah, the prices seem a little shocking but even if you find it cheaper online, it ends up costing about the same or more after having it shipped.
Being in this shop took me back to my fun high school days and I felt very happy looking at everything they have.
It’s definitely a place to check out if you like animé even a little bit. I’m sure Jen can suggest something more than what they show on Cartoon Network.
