Description

Specialties

The Learning Brook Academy is a unique, in-home preschool program located in Cobb County, offering flexible enrollment in hourly increments (drop-in), full time, or half day plans. View planned activities in advance and choose your child’s level of participation. Whether your child is with us for one hour or forty, each child shapes and influences the learning environment and is a very special part of our classroom community.

From lovely indoor learning spaces to an outdoor classroom and garden, children have many incredible opportunities to explore their world through play and natural interactions with the environment, all while forming skills and confidence that will develop or augment their preparedness for kindergarten.

The program at The Learning Brook Academy is designed to foster confidence, self-esteem and excitement for learning which shapes how children approach academics, relationships with others, and the world of opportunities before them for the rest of their lives.

Engaging activities include: daily sign language enrichment, journaling across disciplines, learning in our outdoor classroom and garden, cultivation and harvesting of foods grown by our own hands, logging observations while excavating and exploring fossils, and so much more.

Childhood is a time for freedom, expression, and discovery. At The Learning Brook Academy, children are nurtured from intellect to spirit and provided with the opportunities to follow their hearts and grow their minds.

History

Established in 2014.

My experiences teaching in the public school system were immeasurably valuable to me. In addition to the incredible wealth of opportunities working with a variety of students in unique circumstances, I gleaned a rich understanding of the expectations that face today’s children as they move from preschool into their academic careers. Without an already established joy of learning, these expectations can stifle creativity and impose obstacles to self-expression and confidence. My experiences taught me that free-thinking and confident students are the most successful students. Fostering an early discovery of interests and talents can be both powerful and life-changing. Since most children encounter formal schooling for the first time in preschool, the importance of the quality and nature of that experience as a foundation of learning cannot be overstated. That is why I founded The Learning Brook Academy.
