Description

Specialties

We offer a variety of math tutoring services including supervised study sessions, test prep, and review classes. We also offer a variety of homebound and homeschool services along with research assistance for magnet program projects. ~~

Unlike other tutoring companies and some private tutors our tutors are certified math teachers with actual experience and success teaching math. All tutors hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Mathematics (6 – 12). Students will not be tutored by someone who is merely ‘good at math’. Having the ability to ‘do math’ does not necessarily mean one has the ability to ‘teach math’. ~~

Our structured classroom environment is free from the distractions of many other locations such as home, libraries, and large tutoring centers.

History

Established in 2010.

I began teaching math over twenty years ago because I have a passion for mathematics and I enjoy helping students learn and understand math. ~~

However, with the 2010 budget crisis, increased demands on teacher time, a possible shortened school year, increased furlough days for teachers, and potential reduction in force of 500 or more teachers, it became increasingly evident that the 2010-11 school year was going to be a difficult one for all, most of all the students! ~~

With such a shortage of qualified high school math tutors, I decided that I could offer more to students if I removed the constraints imposed by the system and help students learn math individually, in small groups, or in whole class instruction ~ ~

Tammy U.

Business Owner

I began teaching math twenty years ago and have experience teaching all levels of high school mathematics, from remedial through Advanced Placement®. I am College Board trained for AP® Statistics and Calculus and worked for the Educational Testing Service for 6 years grading the free response section of the AP® Statistics exam. ~~

I was awarded the Radio Shack Tandy Scholars Outstanding Teacher Award, Georgia Roundtable Outstanding Mathematics Teacher of Excellence, and nominated by a Student for ‘Who’s Who among High School Teachers’ ~~

I also completed Teacher Research Fellowships at the Cardiovascular Fluids Laboratory and the Micro Electronics Research Center (MiRC) at Georgia Tech as well as the Astrophysics and Radiation Measurements Lab at Los Alamos National Laboratory ~~

I have a passion for mathematics and I enjoy helping students learn and understand math. There is nothing more exciting than students having those ‘aha’ moments when a concept finally ‘clicks’.
