This place was a great spot for late night grub. Food was tasty but nothing to write home about. Our group enjoyed burgers, salads, sandwiches and a few beers. We had never been there and I didn’t know if we needed to be seated by a hostess and approached a woman behind the counter and it seemed an inconvenience so maybe it’s self seating… Sorry for not being a local :-/

Stick with food that comes in a glass or pizza. The dinners were not good. Service was rushed and it wasn’t busy? I like hanging here at the bar and having some bar food but it was not a good dining experience.

Completely remodeled inside with a beautiful dining room to have a nice family gathering! The pizza is great, thin crust different then most other places. Scallops wrapped in bacon r to die for! The menu is huge as everything from fish, steaks, pizza, hoagies, burgers and much much more! A lot of times they have live music on the weekends which is a nice treat while eating dinner. Also if I need something to go home with they have a full package goods store right there with a huge selection of wine!

Oh my gosh! I haven’t been treated so poorly in I cannot remember WHEN? Not sure what we could have possibly said to be treated so badly? I felt we should have left the minute we walked in… when the bar became so hushed! Guess we were not the? «locals». Our barmaid more like bar wench had an attitude the minute we asked about happy hour. Just a few items with maybe .25 cents off she said? Obviously she was not into any Happy Hour. When asked if I could have an orange slice she grimaced and said nope, even though the Wine station offered pies, desserts, FRUIT? She could have offered something else such as lemon? We proceeded to ck out the menu which stated Specials Thursday ½ off appetizers please see menu. We decided on, nachos, wings, and tails. We asked our wonderfully pleasant blondie barmaid for another round of beers but this time yuengling s, the husband notice she was pouring Stella’s again and asked? Oh my she lost it! What? She said I never heard you say Yuengling so I guess You want me to pour these out? Geez Louise ! What service? She offered for us to keep the stellas, I will give you these for the price of Yueglings 2.50 I mentioned no the menu said the special for the Yuengling is 2.25. What a mistake! The looks she gave and sharp tongue of this woman!, stating ?“Well I will just correct! ” …25 cents Again… we should have LEFT! If it hadn’t been for the saving grace of another waitress who had the knowledge of customer service and that we had placed our order. Wings were poor, nachos were better and the tails were really good! End of story you guessed it! Still ripped off with the Happy Hour pricing, come to find out it was only on certain items? Clearly placed on the menu ½ off appetizers. No one seemed to care? Customer service not a thing to worry about… oh and to top it off we did get a giggle that there was one of the huge sports screen that focused on just viewing the security camera of the parking lot? We decided this was their camera to watch a) for the suckers(non-locals) coming in or b) the suckers that were back to raise hell for being treated so poorly? Just a heads up unless you are Cliff, Norm or Goober DO Not Enter!!!

Total aholes! Sorry, we try never to use that language but we were treated like 3rd class citizens. Barmaid was more than rude but food server(new) was very polite. Totally misrepresented happy hour prices. We ARE disputing the bill with our cc company. Too bad, seemed like a nice local bar …

3.5 Stars. I would easily classify this Bar & Grill as a «local hangout» spot, with many people visiting during Happy Hour, primarily hanging out around the large bar inside the main entrance. There is also an adjoining liquor store if you just want to grab and go. After snagging a spot at the bar, I looked over their fairly limited draft selections while waiting for the bartender to finish her conversation with some gents at the other end. I quickly learned she’s probably never won any customer service awards while working here, even despite the blond hair and a tramp stamp. I had to repeat my order a couple of times and then remind her what I was drinking when she eventually offered up a second round. The same thing soon happened to the guy next to me, which I found amusing. Like other spots around the Jersey shore, you have to order your food from a separate waitress, so stand your menu up on the bar when you’re ready. Speaking of the menu, it is surprisingly extensive with many options to choose from. I decided on the French Dip sandwich with fries, which was excellent. I could have used a bit more Au Jus in a slightly bigger cup, but it was very good otherwise. The efficient waitress, not the bartender(of course), eventually consolidated my food and bar bill, I paid and was on my way. BCK could easily be upgraded to four stars with a successful return visit.

Great food here! My family and I have been passing by this restaurant for years and we finally decided to give it a shot! I had a French dip sandwich, it was delicious! The au jus was simply wonderful and the French fries that came with it was delicious. I only give this four stars because the atmosphere was a little sketchy. When we walked in, the bar is right there and we were given weird looks from everyone at the bar as if we shouldn’t have been there. It just made my family and I feel a little uneasy. Other than that, come check it out!

I hate to lower the overall rating and almost didn’t write a review because I couldn’t give one as excellent as the previous reviews. It might be because we aren’t local, and maybe standards here are different than what we are used to. We ordered two pizzas, one with sausage and mushroom, and one with sausage, mushroom, pepperoni, onion and green pepper. The deal breaker for me is the fact that the mushrooms on the pizzas were canned. Yuck! The sauce and crust were good. The cut up pieces of sausage were different but okay. We’d like to come again and try a few more items on the menul

The previous reviews for Black Cat’s are dead on. Probably one of the best restaurants in the state, and definitely in south jersey. I would highly recommend others to come here, especially if they want to escape the casino restaurant traps of shit food. I would recommend trying Cat’s chicken sandwich. I have this one every time and refuse to try anything else. The chicken is grilled and served with a FRESH roll, lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard. FRESH sweet potato fries to die for. FRESH lettuce with a homemade ranch dressing for my salad. The best part is when you get the bill, everything is reasonable. This place is awesome!

Hey, If you can’t write about the place you hang out what do all the other reviews mean. I hang out here for the people, food and very low cost beer — It’s locals place that welcomes visitors. The owner Jimmy has an excellent eye for what works in the bar/restaurant business. Constantly upgrading and repairing ‘The Cat’ has been through a remarkable transformation in the last few years. New dining areas, remodeled and upgraded rest rooms, new bar stools and countless menu changes. Constant raves about the pizza. The recipe comes from another famous Plesantville Pizzeria that was in business during the 60’s and 70s’. A pizzeria known as Pasquinis that closed many years ago as the owners got older and the area they were in changed. Try a slice first since it is different. You will order a whole pie after the taste. PS I know the secret and it is not Rabbit as rumored in my Plesantville High School days. Black Cat menu is extensive and contains every type of bar food you can imagine. They always joke that ‘if it’s not fried, I won’t eat it”. Well that’s partially true, but I can attest that you will not get a better Chefs, Tuna, or Antipasti salad anywhere. Daily specials are a steal. Check out their Facebook Page at
