Established in 2014.

Mathnasium began in Los Angeles, CA as a dream between a father and son. through years of teaching the father refined an approach to help students learn math in different ways than a traditional school may be teaching. Mathnasium now has over 600 franchises (and growing.) The Abilene location was opened by Abilenian, Mac Leavell, in August of 2014. We have served over 100 students and look forward to helping many more!

Mac Was born and raised in Abilene. He graduated from Abilene High in 2002 and ACU in 2006. After working at Big Brothers Big Sisters for 1 year, he moved to Dallas. He taught and coached at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, TX for 6 years. After seeing an opportunity to move back and help more students with math, he returned in 2014 to open Mathnasium of Abilene.

My son has been attending Mathnasium for over a year now when he was in the 5th grade. The school he was attending did not have a strong math program and I began to see how behind he was. I took him to be evaluated the first week of November and he tested out at about halfway through the 3rd grade. We attended 3 – 4 times per week until the end of May. At his reevaluation he was at the end of 4th grade in 7 months. Math will always be a struggle for him because of multiple learning disabilities but the way Mac and his team teach really opens their eyes to seeing math in a whole new light. We are now in public school in the 6th grade, attend at least three times a week, and making B’s overall. I can’t praise the crew at Mathnasium enough for making our homework life so much easier.
