Hendrick Health System

Great hospital. We are from another town and my boyfriend was having heart problems. This is the best place ever. The staff went above and beyond. Dr. Armour the cardiologist that treated my boyfriend is a fantastic doctor! We probably won’t come back only because we don’t live in the area but for those that do live near there I would highly recommend.

Best hospital in a 2 hour radius. Despite its small town values, Hendrick strives for improvement.
Constantly having new doctors and technology! The only downside I would say is the wait time in the ER.
Need to build more rooms and have more staff

This is the worst hospital in terms of management. The employees are encouraged by the higher staff to be hateful, petty, and downright brutal. The lead staff are clearly following the footsteps of the predecessors before them with fake smiles and mean words spoken as you walk away. I used to work here as clerical and I can promise you the nurses AND DRS talk about people freely. Chances are your nurse has spoke to the admitting staff, cleaning staff and anyone else regardless of federal laws. You can dismiss this as an angry review but pay attention to the people around you. All you have to do is look around. Hendrick medical center is one big social mess up. From high up all the way down.

Hendricks Medical Center is where I gave birth to 3out of 4 of my children. Need less to say I am no rookie to this and no newcomer to Hendricks. Let me say that 2 of my experiences were great in 04′&14′. This time in May of 2015 I am so angry and left feeling so uncomfortable I want to leave, take my baby and husband to another hospital that will help my family and myself feel comfortable. Since our arrival this trip 19 hours have passed and we have been put in 5 rooms never making it to Mother care. There are 3 new parents here now including myself. This is not enough patients for the mother care so they close the doors and leave us behind to bare the ldr’s small uncomfortable rooms. The part that makes me feel so bad is that the tiny couch is to small for my husband to sleep in. I want him here with his son and myself but he will not be able to stay:-(The thing is I told you we have been here and done this before so I know they have a cot he can sleep on because the last 2 times they offered it to him, we did not have to ask! This time, when no one offered I ask for one. Answering my request with a sigh the nurse said the hospital does not have one. What… I want my husband here with his family. This is not cool. Further more the security and staff are doing such a poor job at keeping smokers at least away from in front of the main entrance. Nasty! You can smell the smoke as you are leaving the elevator, that is about 70 ft. From the door. Poor policy enforcement. Also allowed a person to carry a small dog around inside the hospital. Wow, Never again.

As a travel nurse, I have worked many places. You wouldn’t expect a small town to have like this. This hospital is more advanced than the other facilities I’ve worked in, even big cities. The people who work here are genuinely good people for the most part. I love working here! The only thing I’ve noticed here is the lateral violence amongst some staff. day vs night nurses, cath lab vs floor nurses. Let’s all be friends y’all ;)

Very nice folks, Joint School explains the whole process. People at Pre-​Op are incredible! Now, after surgery and Rehab, I can thank the Joint School for preparation of my mind for what was before me. I keep getting asked by folks suffering with Knee pain, YES! This has improved my quality of life.

My review is based on being a visitor, thank goodness. Half of the hospital is newer and very updated. the other half is older and shows it, but is well kept. The food is what you would expect, its a hospital.

My father has been in Hendrick Medical Center for about 3 months, one complication after another. Overall, I think his care has been pretty good. Nothing is ever perfect. But there were a couple of issues that I cannot ignore.
First, the whole campus is supposed to be tobacco-​free. Signs everywhere indicate this. Yet, everytime I walked in or out of the hospital to visit my dad, I had to walk through a cloud of smoke because at least one and often several people were smoking. This was not only in the parking lot but on the sidewalk not even 50 yards from the entrance!
This is not acceptable!
Hendrick should not allow ANY smoking on campus. If the hospital administrators are going to allow such blatant violation, then they might as well take down the signs proudly declaring the campus as «tobacco-​free.» With second-​hand smoke being so harmful, I prefer that they stop being so lenient with smokers. If EVERY staff member– not just security — would tactfully tell smokers that it is for the health of everyone that this is a regulation, and if security would reinforce this, then it would not take long for people to stop. But the hospital has got to stop turning a blind eye.
Second, my dad has been moved into several different rooms during his stay. In the process of one of these moves, I witnessed an aide and two nurses coughing and sneezing without using the recommended precautions (not covering their mouths with their sleeves). One nurse said she felt so miserable that she should be home. I wanted to tell her that she should go home! Don’t healthcare workers know that if they are sick, they should not be caring for patients?
If the employee does not know enough to go home when he or she is sick, then it should fall on the manager/​supervisor to tell the person to go home. It is ridiculous for them to be in the hospital infecting patients who already have health problems; they don’t need the staff getting them sicker.
Please, Hendrick, start providing a safer, healthier place for your patients and visitors! Pay attention to staff and visitors who are exposing others to germs and second-​hand smoke.
