Livoti’s Old World Market

We hosted Christmas this year, and we had most of the food catered by Livoti’s. Everything was absolutely delicious. There was no drama or wait when we had to pick up our large Christmas dinner order. The filet of sole with crab meat was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. Everyone was complementing that fish. I recommend Livoti’s for your catering needs.

I go here on a weekly basis. Last week I ordered sandwiches and was charged $ 6.99 for the same exact sandwiches this week I was charged $ 11.99. When I questioned them I didn’t really get why answers. Not happy with the service .
My husband forgot I told him didn’t want to go back there and just came home with sandwiches for us for lunch. He ordered boars head turkey and the guy didn’t give us board head. I was on the phone with my mother who said they just got bad burrata from them and when called them they didn’t do anything about it. I decided I was calling anyway the man they put on the phone insisted they only have board head turkey I said really your store made turkey is on sake this week. Oh oh is that what you got bring it back. Rude not apologetic. Livotis Needs to learn better business. My parents probably spend $ 200 a week in there and I spent about $ 100 a week until a few weeks ago. They just lost us as customers. Should have 0 star review

Shopping here feels like I’m back in Europe. It’s beautiful. Everything is so fresh.

This is my go to for fresh vegetables, meats and fish. They have good quality produce and meats that last and the prices are reasonable. The staff is helpful and friendly. Great little

Been going to livotis since they came to Nj. Used to have great sales but since they opened a second store in Marlboro there is no sales like they used to have. they ask for regular prices or more, livotis if you are reading this you know what I’m talking about.

I absolutely love this little market. They make these awesome chicken, spinach, and artichoke burgers that I buy every week and their fresh seafood doesn’t disappoint! I go there for any specialty food items I need and rant and rave to anyone I know in the area about this place. The only downside is it is a little small and the checkout area is cramped. Livoti’s is the crown jewel in Aberdeen/​Matawan!

Picked up a $ 500 catering order which was loaded into my car by an employee. When I got home and brought everything into the house I realized everything was ice cold out of the fridge. So here we are with a house full of people and we had to heat everything up defeating the whole purpose of getting food catered. Called the store, asked for a manager and was told they had left for the day and we were supposed to specify that we wanted it hot when placing the order because they have so many orders. How is customer supposed to know this? How about asking if we wanted it hot or cold when taking the order. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! POOR COMMUNICATION! Can’t express the frustration and aggravation my family went through today. I’ll never do business there again!

I bought Italian pastires. I wasn’t happy with them. Some were stale and some we not real custard but the white sugar cream instead. I bought 5 pastries to try. The price was $ 1.99 each. The ones that I liked were the rum yellow custard and the yellow custard cream puffs. Those will be the ones I buy again. Not the white sugar cream ones. I bought their veggies, sausage, chop meat & meat loaf mix today. Will cook tomorrow. They do have a large selection of everything. Trying something different each time we go there.

I loved this store when I first moved here, but now I realize that it’s just an over priced market with staff that is unprofessional and extremely rude. I have had multiple times that I’ve been to this location and left in shock at the lack of customer service skills their employees have. Very dissatisfied.

Great place to pick up some fresh and unique items. They have delicious pre-​made food (e.g. zucchini cakes and rice balls), as well as a seafood section. My husband purchased some lobsters last weekend. They will take the live lobsters and steam them for you if you want, which is what he did. We made homemade lobster rolls. Delicious.

Great place to get quality food. The price reflects what you’re getting however. True to the «Old World» label.

This place is amazing whether you are just shopping for fresh food, having a party or Giants tailgate. We have been going here since it opened. They have the best homemade mozzarella around. Made fresh daily. Their produce is wonderful. Prepared foods are fantastic. Meat is exceptional. Price’s are competitive to other places, even supermarkets in the area.

I used to love this store but it has gone down hill. Used to have decent sales but now it is a joke they advertise a price with coupons and then when you go to use them they tell you only one allowed. So their prices are the same or higher and the quality is not as good.
I recommended this place to so many now I won’t waste my time.

Pardon my language but this place fucking rules. There’s no other way to put it. Rather than write some Long winded critique like I always do, I’ll just say this. Screw shop rite, Wegmans, stop & shop and every other grocery store that’s ever existed (except trader joes). Lavotis prices are totally reasonable (although they did misprint my cauliflower today). The place is very clean with beautiful looking fruits and veggies. But the prepared foods and butchered meats are the real highlight. When I saw the mammoth meatballs, cilantro chicken salad and seven different kinds of homemade sausages on display, the carnivore in me went ape wall. Also, the bakery was insane. I didn’t buy anything buy it all looked orgasmic. The employees here were friendly and helpful. Plus there’s ample parking. My one gripe was the spacing in here… The isles were narrower than a catheter and the shelves were so jam packed with items that it was sometimes hard to see things. But alas these are minor faults. If this place were closer to home I just wouldn’t go anywhere else for groceries. From cereal to ice

I just stumbled on this place after visiting Denino’s and Ralphs. I had wanted to pick up some fresh fruit for home and my wife noticed the fresh fruit in the front of the store.
This is a small bakery on one side and grocery store on the other, everything looked very fresh and there were many Italian items you wouldn’t find in the regular supermarket. Their prices are very reasonable.
If you live in the area it is a definite go-​to place for everything Italian. The only thing we missed was the fresh mozzarella guy (sort of glad about that since fresh mozzarella is one of my weaknesses), I think the mozzarella guy might have been the one chasing me away when I took a picture of the storefront lol.

Carrrrrrrrrrrunch! That was the sound of my sfogliatelle six hours after bringing it home from the bakery at Livoti’s. The fact that is was still perfectly crispy was so amazing. That was one darn good sfogliatelle. The cream inside was lemon curd, not pastry cream. Nice spin on things Livoti!
I also got a mini Napoleon and a mini cherry pie. The cherry pie was not so Italian but hey, it’s Memorial Day weekend. I needed something as American as apple pie. The verdict? All good! Perfect in my book. Now all I need are the little Hello Kitty cookies. Yes, they have Hello Kitty cookies in their cookie selection.
I must mention though, that their pignoli prices are through the roof. At about $ 20 per pound, it almost makes traveling to Staten Island justifiable.
But while you’re there at Livoti’s, take a gander at their super Italian grocery store. They have a lot of house made goods from pastas to everything at the deli your heart and stomach could ever want. Their homemade potato foccacias looked delicious. Sadly, we didn’t buy one. Instead we went for a $ 12 foot long sub. We chose our own bread and settled for the Livoti classic– chicken cutlet with fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers. You’re basically paying for the ingredients because they give you a whole ball of mozzarella and four cutlets. The sandwich weighed 2.5 pounds.
The sandwich was just okay. They give it to you cold and it tasted much better warm. We salvaged the leftovers by heating it up in the oven the next day.
Overall, I’d call our visit to Livoti’s a success. It’s a must stop when in Aberdeen. They even have an Aberdeen sandwich. That, actually, looked more exciting than the chicken cutlet one. *Smacks self in the face. Should have got that one.

Oh my… is this place great or what? Great prices, meats, Italian and just about every other kind of cuisine they have. Some of it is really spectacular. Always a treat when I’m in NJ to come here. They’ve got some of the best sausage, cold cuts, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Plus, they have some wonderful bakery items that only remind you of Brooklyn.
Seriously, if I lived in Matawan/​Aberdeen, I’d probably be well over 300 pounds, considering the things they have here. It is always busy there, no matter what, plus they have a fabulous Frank Sinatra impressionist who sings while you are shopping so that makes the atmosphere already make you feel like you are home.
I highly recommend going there, because sometimes, you need a place that tastes just like home.

Despite the proximity of both Stop & Shop and Shop Rite, I still enjoy shopping at Livoti’s for specific items. Their prepared foods are delicious. Give them a roll and they’ll freshly prepare a sandwich for you a the deli.
I like that they also make a great deal of their food — wraps, sandwiches, mozzarella, pastas (huge variety, including squid ink). And I have to say, their seafood quality is very good. (Wraps are delicious, however they lack in sauce; I often get their eggplant wrap — delicious and I’m not vegetarian — but is in need of some balsamic glaze.)
They do tend to stock a variety of produce — lychees, figs, shiitake mushrooms, fresh fava beans. However, even when these items are in season, they tend to be a bit inconsistent with stocking them. Still, every once in a while it’s fun to see new items on the shelves. Nothing is ever the same day to day. And most of their prices are fairly decent. I do come here for produce over the other two local grocery stores.
One con that sometimes turns me away — insane parking. Although that may be a good thing. Otherwise I may spend too much money there everyday.
