Artist Mark Braithwaite can be found on sunny days painting ‘on location’ in the city. A favourite spot is alongside St Michael le Belfrey Chruch, adjacent to York Minster.

The Gallery is proud to be a member of The Fine Art Trade Guild and York Tourism Bureau.

Business Owner

Artist Mark Braithwaite, Resident Artist at York’s Braithwaite Gallery.

Mark began his career as an artist as a pavement artist outside York Minster during summer holidays from University. He went on to paint pictures of his native York, which he published as prints, eventually opening his own Gallery in York city centre in 2000.

His work has gone from strength to strength, with a wide portfolio spanning many genres. His work has been published nationally by leading Fine Art Publishers, and also as greetings cards.

Mark’s prestigious commissions include the Signals Regiment and the Royal Artillery of British Army, Deloitte, Ampleforth College, Nestle UK and GMB Union, as well as in private houses all over the world.

His recent «Rosebud» series featuring a little girl wearing a pink tutu and red wellies has been published as prints and greetings cards.

A favourite project is a collection of dance drawings, in collaboration with several professional ballet and contemporary dancers.
