Bistro du Vin

I came here for a romantic date with my girlfriend recently. Let’s cut to the chase, I wasn’t impressed. The pork belly was my girls choice and mine was the catch of the day, for that night, it was the salmon.
When ordering in any restaurant I’m already going to be a bit pissy when I order the catch of the day and get asked: «The fish comes by itself, would you like something with it?»
This was a main course order so you’d expect either some salad or rice or something… I was mistaken, there was nothing apart from half a lemon I could suck on. To compensate I ordered some chips, believe me it wasn’t what I wanted.
The food came in its timely manner, lets say 45 min later, and the laughter ensued. The pork belly was delicious and substantial according to my girl but mine was just a joke, I’m not even saying it in a bad way. Btw the funny part is we were going to a comedy night straight after dinner. No pun required.
I’m sorry the portion of the salmon was ideal if you were any of the following:
–A small person
–A child
–If you’d already eaten and wanted a snack.
The salmon itself was definitely fresh and tasted good, but was jut not anywhere close to being a main meal size.
Overall disappointing for me and average for my girls food. She said it would have been great with some salad or veg or something. Meat is good, really it is, but there is only so much in my opinion you can eat by itself.
If you order the salmon ask for a few as £13 for a kids size main meal is a joke.
