I agree with pagtemp’s review. As a local and after countless curry’s from here, it’s a great everyday curry. Always good quality and service there is fantastic. The owner really does try hard to make you happy.

Café Saffron serves Indian food that doesn’t reinvent the traditional balti, but for that reason it makes for a relaxed evening out. The staff are very welcoming and I have to drive past every night at about 7pm and the smell alone tempts me. In terms of pricing, it’s what you’d expect from an Indian — about £6−7 per dish. Recommended, particularly if you are living locally.

Had to wait a while before we had our order taken, although it was very busy. Good portions of rice and curry dishes were served hot. The price was reasonable although I think the staff could have provided a better service. Will visit again during a weekday when it is not busy and maybe it might just be a better service.

Woah! MASSIVE disagreement from the last review here! I’ve recently moved to Codsall and when we tried this place, WOW! The food is fantastic! I’ve taken out a couple of times and been impressed, but when I ate in — every time — I’ve been far more than impressed! Cooked exactly to your requirements, super-fresh ingrediants. Attentive, efficient, polite staff. The wait for the food was more than I’d like, though however it was VERY busy & we hadn’t booked. Massive portions too! Prices are great considering the quality of food! Complimentary drink at the end of the meal & decent sweet selection to choose from too. Quite small restaurant area, but that didn’t bother me in the slighest. Very lively atmosphere on the busier days.

After living just of Manchester’s famous curry mile I have had quite a few curries in my time. I was really disappointed in café saffron. It was a welcome addition to the village, which has plenty of chinese takeaways and fish and chips shops, but not much else. The prices are reasonable enough for curry, but both myself and my partner were disappointed in the quality of the curry itself — it was greasy and oily, and a little bit lacking in taste. The naan was nice, and poppadums are included. Handily it does offer a takeaway service. Unfortunately I won’t be returning.
