I was very worried about the move but this building does seem much lighter and the choice of books hasn’t worsened so all in all a good move I think. Staff are very helpful but I am not too keen on the self service aspect but that is a sign of the times I guess.

After the controversy of moving the Library, and the continued controversy over what happens to the old site the New Knaphill library is really rather good for a small facility. The fact that it is now set back from the road in a pedestrianised area provides protection for pensioners and toddlers alike. Like most of Surrey’s libraries the facility has moved over to self-service as much as possible. This seems to free up staff to asisst. There are a handful of computers available(free of charge although printing is charged) and these can be booked. The children’s section is particularly well stocked and far better stocked than the larger section in the main Woking library. There are a few chairs and tables around but the library is not really big enough to sit down and read in. The whole building is modern, light and airy and a credit to the system.
