Stopped in with a group of new friends after a visit to Windsor Castle to top up our tummies before heading back to London. I highly recommend their lunch special. It is affordable, HUGE and quite delicious. You pick your burger, beverage and the meal is served with fries/chips. I opted for the brie and caramelized onions to top my enormous juicy beef burger and was very pleased with the whole drippy messy yum-tastic affair. I think this might be an upscale steakhouse chain and the décor supports that impression. The hostess/waitress was very pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. I asked for all kinds of little extras like mayo on the side and a pot of tea and all requests were met wtih a smile and quick service. We really enjoyed being able to spread out and dig in without worrying about any fussiness. Come and get your grub on! Students and tourists will appreciate the reasonable lunch deal and the opportunity to feast on some hearty burgers.

My medium rib eye was tough as old boots! Very disappointing! Stick to Miller & Carter far better!

The manager. Rude would be an understatement. Five in the party. We asked for some drinks that they either did not have or they said they ran out. So we asked the waiter if we could go across the way to get ONE freaken daiquiri. He said yes. So we get it come back and plan to order their food. That’s when the nasty and rude manager comes out and tells us we have to leave. She says if we brought the drinks with us it wouldn’t be a problem but because we went across the way to bring one back that was unacceptable. Yeah that makes no sense. Bring ur own fine, walk 75 feet to get one, no. We planned on ordering a lot of food from there. Before we could ask questions she grabbed our menus and said leave. We sat for two minutes when she comes back outside and shouts I want you to leave. Before I can ask a question or at least finish my drink, she turns her back away and walks away. Rude? Yes. Treated us as less than humans? yes. Coming back? Not one of us, three of which are Windsor residents. By the way, she told them she didn’t care if they ever came back.

A friend and I wanted beef, and not being spoilt for choice for steakhouses in the local area we decided to give Cattle Grid a try. We rocked up around 9pm with no reservation and there was only one free table in the whole place, luckily we only wanted one so we were off to a good start. The choice of beers was uninspiring. Becks, Budweiser and Brooklyn were the choices. I went for the Brooklyn out of curiosity and because the other two were about as exciting as spending a day across the way at the railway station looking at trains. The Brooklyn was ok, but a little hoppier than I like my beer, your mileage may vary. I started with«Hot! Buffalo wings with blue cheese sauce». They were pretty good but if you put an exclamation mark after the word hot then you had better not be writing cheques which your chef can’t cash. They weren’t hot enough to justify the exclamation mark in my eyes. For my main I went for the 16oz T bone. It was tasty but not the best cut I’ve ever had. I asked for it rare and I got it rare, and the presentation of it was good. The chips were skin on and had a good flavour to them. There isn’t much greenery in sight, but you come here for the meat, right? All in it was a decent meal, just nothing that amazing. It doesn’t deserve the ££££ price rating. My starter was £7, mains are £15/£22. Stop by if you are in town and you should enjoy it. If you travel from further afield just to try it out you might feel a little disappointed.

The Steak is good, unfortinately some members of staff are unfriendly and also the service isn’t very good.

Cowgirls and cowboys of London Town. Let me tell you ’bout the Wild West – No spurs or tumbleweed rolling ’round. This ain’t ’bout Dude Ranch, no Eastwood or Billy the Kid, Unilocaler this quip is about Cattle Grid. Friday night I met a friend in Windsor for din. After a drink or two we were ready to tuck in. Downtown Cattle Grid where we RSVP’d. The wait was an hour, hungry yes, but we weren’t peeved. Finally sat down at a table, perused the menu. Divided into three sections of meats you could chew. Cow, Pig and Burgers – a carnivorous paradise. Though I did balk a bit at the accompanying prices. After a bottle of 2010 Malbec(very good, btw) and a wait. The mains were brought out: chips, watercress and two steaks. I ordered the sirloin, Friend the fillet* Friend had medium rare, while well done is my way. *Nota Bene: (And in case you say Fillet the proper British, not American way: I ordered the sirloin, Friend the fillet I was terribly hungry so I inhaled it.) My sirloin was well-done, but a bit fatty, tough and not the best cut. While Friend pined about the fillet, I thought it best to keep my mouth shut. The chips were okay, but lacked golden crispiness. The dressing atop the watercress was pure bliss! Salad-Dodger, Friend is no fan of anything green. So imagine my surprise after the meal when it was nowhere to be seen! Paltry portion for the price, I also ordered spinach. And Dear Unilocaler, while I hate to be a Grinch. Wish it were sauteed longer with more seasoning. Though Friend’s in-house made green peppercorn sauce was reason to sing. They also offer guac, bone marrow gravy, blue cheese, herb and garlic butter. And a myriad of palatable-sounding others. But I’ve got to give the Grid credit where credit is due. Because I believe in highlighting positives too. The service was fantastic, waiters amiable, attentive and kind. One even put together an extra table for more space while we dined. The staff is well trained, so perfectly good cause, To thank them and grant a hearty round of applause. Also it seems that most diners went for the ribs. Probably a good percentage, I’m not telling fibs! Peri-peri or baby back are what they offer their clientele. Looked messy but had a delicious smell. At the Grid, one seems truly spoilt for choice. Meat lovers and vegetarians can relax and rejoice. Though, I have a suggestion for them. Their menu is much too expansive and they need to trim. Cut down your offerings and perfect the rest. But regardless, I wish the Grid the best of success. Dear Unilocaler, the Grid was far too slow in this gun draw for my taste. Not sure I would go out of my way to return, but it is a nice place.

This is my absolute favorite place to eat. The food is impeccable and the staff are friendly and helpful. It is a bit on the expensive side but as a treat you can’t go wrong. Thanks guys, 5 stars!

Service was dire, staff were rude, waited 10 mins to have my drinks order taken, then another 15 mins to get them and drink them! Only ordered 4 drinks! Three of which were in bottles! Food was average. Nothing special. Waiter was rude, got two of the orders wrong and then when I complained to have them changed actually used the word ‘awkward’!! Considering I had asked for the changes 45 mins beforehand(!) I didn’t think I was being awkward. Waited over 15 minutes for someone to take our money, in hindsight we should have just walked out as it was getting embarrasing waiting! I would not recommend this chain to anybody! Their milkshakes however, are fantastic, so maybe that is the only good thing and they should re brand themselves to a milkshake bar!

BEEEEF! I have found my saving grace. Praise the heavens they serve guacamole with steak. And it’s damn good! All a Paleo chick wants in her travels is a good hearty juicy steak and some healthy avacado. Sure, it’s not California avacado but 5000 miles away form home I have found my sanctuary. Cattle Grid is a chain steakhouse, their menu isn’t extensive but it makes for quick and easy choices. They are located at the far end of Jubilee near the Travelodge and Waitrose. You can definitley find good drub here. My co workers came on a different day than I and they loved the burgers. I love the steak. Big, juicy and flavorful! The price was about right. My steak was served with a spicy leafy salad which complimnented my meal very nicely. I will be back to check out the desserts. Updates to come soon.

Ate in restaurant recently with family for lunch, staff were friendly and polite. Burgers ordered were very good and good location of restaurant in windsor. Child friendly with good loos. Good range of wine as i prefer red. Staff knowledgeable and ready to help, little accident with food. would definetly recommend this restaurant for lunch and early dinner. Have tried GBK before across the way but the food is better quality here. I was asked how i wanted my burger, unlike GBK. All Bar One is also close with good food but if you are looking for authentic steakhouse then this baby is the one. I am a regular customer everytime i am in windsor. I have heard that the other outlets in clapham and balham are also good. Popular place to visit when meeting up with friends.

simple formula– good quality steaks/ribs/burgers, with appropriate sides. take a seat, make your choice then order at the front. nice atmosphere and good wine list. perhaps not a place for a lingering romantic meal– but great for a quick bite on your way out elsewhere.
