Saffron Indian Cuisine Restaurant

We rang the Saffron and booked, we arrived and were not seated, merely scowled at, the place was empty aside from people in the bar waiting for the rest of their large, well 6, party. It was obvious they were the sole focus of the 2 staff. The staff were surly and hostile, they finally seated us, eventually brought our drinks and took our order, after an age brought the so-​so food, the Stone Grill is a rip-​off gimmick btw, then left the plates et al on our table til we eventually had to go and seek them out to request our bill. When I eventually found the staff they were sat on their arses playing with their phones, and these weren’t ‘kids’ they were oldish guys who should know better! We never even managed to get a second drink as they just left us to our own devices. To sum up: the worst service I have ever experienced, never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant in our life, so no tip for these lacklustre chaps! We have never had a worse dining experience! So avoid, unless you are a masochist, the place may look pretty but all that glisters is most definitely NOT gold! Only rated a 1 as there was no –5!

Really top place to eat, food is great, service is great, a little exspensive, but you do get what you pay for wich is top quality service, my bad points are not much parking space outside (hardly a bad point) but must be mentioned also not well lit at night, this may have been sorted already, as you get out your car and cant see a bloody thing in the car park. All in though well recomended a definate must try.

I have eaten at Saffron a number of times, mainly due to it being walking distance from where I live. The food has been nice most of the time, I wouldn’t say it was outstanding but I have only had one meal that I would say was not nice.
The reason I have only given 3 stars is the fact that the staff are not particularly friendly, helpful or polite and the service is usually slow. On one occasion the waiter did not even come to our table to take the order, he practically called over to ask what we wanted, now for a sit down meal in a restaurant that is not the sort of service I expect.
If the service was better I would definitely eat at this restaurant a lot more often.

I went here as it was recommended by work collegues after booking into the local best Western Hotel. On first impressions I would say it had a smartly presented interior with the furniture looking well looked after. They have a block pricing structure so worrying about the cost is abit pointless though I would say the bill was a little more than i felt it deserved. The service was prompt and polite and I wasn’t kept waiting at all even though the 2 staff were busy watching the wall mounted TV, mind you, so was I (left just in time to miss East Enders). The food was hot and as expected, the salad looked freshly chopped and the tomatoes were still wet from the knife. The waiters could have been a little more friendly and some spoons would have been nice for the curry dishes. In conclusion it is an average curry house and that’s not a bad thing these days. I’d be happy to go back but might try another Qype recommendation next time i’m in the area.

Had takeaway New Years Eve food very nice and tasty, but had to wait 1 hour for takeaway.

I typed in to find this place and although situated on Derby road, I wouldn’t quite say this place is a ‘take-​away’ but more of a restaurant, so I’m reviewing it as a restaurant (but it does also do take-​away!
The food is superb and the service 1^st class, great ambience and great décor, basically a great way to spend an evening.

I’ve always liked Saffron; it’s a bit classier than your average Indian. Whether eating in or taking out I’ve never had a bad meal. They score top top marks in my books as last time I ordered I asked for them to make sure they don’t use any nuts or nut oils in any of the food we were ordering and although a common ingredient in most Indian food they where more than happy to oblige. So not only did I get to enjoy some tasty Indian food, my (nut allergy) boyfriend got some too! And he loves curry but hadn’t had any in ages as everywhere he went he seemed to get bad reactions.
Ok so that might not apply to you but it shows how accommodating the staff are which goes along way in the eating out experience for me.
