History
Established in 2009.
Whats Up Cupcake? was opened by Sarah in a whirlwind in June 2009… following a trial weekend at a stall in the Whitstable Harbour Village that was a huge success… Sarah and her Mum thought they would have a look around Harbour Street to perhaps make a plan to open a shop the following year, when they saw a dark blue house front with curtains drawn and a crack in the window… Sarah marched across to Franks next door got the owners number and 2 weeks later was open for business in a pastel green shop front called ‘Whats Up Cupcake?’ Two years on we haven’t looked back! Its been incredibly hard work but we have all loved every high and low. Sarah has had the back up of her amazing team, her Mum Sue, Auntie Hills, Aunt Jayne, Cousin Claire & Best Friends Clare & Nicola.
All cupcakes are baked in Sarah’s parents Annex she has turned lovingly into her bakery, and then they are iced and decorated in a small area at the back of the shop @ 64 Harbour Street.
Meet the Business Owner
Sarah C.
Business Owner
I’m 28, and was born and raised in Whitstable. I have worked as a Restaurant Manager, Estate Agent, PA & Event Host and have lived in Australia & Dubai. I am now happy and settled in Whitstable with my partner who works on the Wind Farm off the Whitstable Coast, and volunteers for the Whitstable Life Boat. Owning my own business is both exhilirating and exhausting, I can’t imagine doing anything else and I hope it continues for many years to come.
