Sorry to disagree, but very disappointed at todays effort. wasted £7 on really small amount of curry sauce on an overcooked & dried out 4″ piece of sausage, plus two dried up remnants that might have been cod originally. mushy peas that were like the peter kay sketch nowt moist. Apart from half a dozen chips, it hit the bin. suspect it was end of the lunchtime close to closing, so try & hit it mid session. This place used to be good but its a while since ive ben due to the roadworks wont bother again.

Cracking Fish and Chip Shop. Best fresh and tasty battered fish in the area. Worth travelling to Monkseaton from the North Shields fish quay for!

I only get fish and chips here occassionally, the food is ok but for the best fish and chips it is worth making the journey to the Fish Quay in Shields or Marshalls in Tynemouth. Having said that they do a good line in extras here including a fried marsa bar for our Northern friends!

If you want the best fish and chips go to Seashells. They offer a wide range of other fried goods as well as salads and burgers, pizzas, kebabs, sauces ect. What I like about them is that they fry regularly and will fry freshly just for you if you ask them for something in particular when you first enter the shop, so everything is always fresh and crisp. They don’t scimp on the portion size either. Be prepared for a bit of a queue sometimes as they are so popular that they are sometimes long queues but the cheery staff are used to that and are quick so its worth a visit beleive me.

top top top chippy honest the best ever, my lord the fish and chips are gorgeous, im not sure if they use good quality food and oil, they must because it tastes so good, local run it is definitely the best down the coast. good prices, lovely friendly staff, big portions you will be stuffed, just my opinion but it is nice the chips and dripping with grease really tasty and fresh. There is a car park right next to it for your convenience it’s a must if your close by and fancy a bag of chips yum.

Seashells is definitely one of the best fish and chip shops around. Seashells 1 just off front street became so popular they opened another shop(Seashells 2) less than a mile away on Seatonville Road. Both of these shops are popular, it’s not often you can pass by and there isn’t a queue(unless they are closed!!). The prices are about what you’d expect of a fish and chip shop anywhere and the portion sizes are generous. They offer quite an extensive range of things on the menu(fish, pies, sausage, fritters etc) and also a large range of soft drinks. Yum yum!

Seashells is by far the best fish and chip shop in the area, which is evident by the fact that there always seems to be a long queue out of the door. Famous for it’s chip buttys which come with either gravy or curry sauce for the bargain price of 99p and stocks a wide selection of fish, the more obscure varieties that can be cooked on request when you enter the shops. The food is crisp and delicious, unlike the greesy chips that you often find these days. Highly recommended.
